“Are you ok?” The man asked, his eyes scanning Shane up and down.
“Yeah, I’m good.” Shane responded breathlessly. The man stood up, and offered Shane a hand, which Shane took. Touching him made his skin tingle where it had contact, and he dropped the hand as soon as he was standing again. He wondered if the man noticed how nervous Shane was in his presence, the way he was staring at Shane so intensely.
“I’m Ilya.” He said.
“Shane.”
The man nodded.
“Did they hurt you?” Ilya asked.

Summary
“My- my name is Shane Hollander. Today is May 5th, 2026. Uh- I was at the ball earlier today?” His eyes shift off screen, and he gulps. Ilya watches his Adam’s apple bobbing like it’s the most precious thing on Earth. Shane looks back at the camera. His eyes start shifting, like he’s reading off cue cards. “I’m- I’m asking the MLH to provide… 100 million?” Shane looks surprised, his voice cracking on the ‘million’, and he looks up from where his eyes are fixed. The video cuts to black for a moment, and then Shane is back on the screen. His hair looks different than before, messier. The cut on the side of his temple is streaming blood, a wound re opened, and one of his eyes is half shut. “I am asking the MLH to provide 100 million dollars for my safe return home.” He says, his voice trembling. Ilya feels weak.
He stumbles back into the precinct, lit cigarette still hanging off his fingers, but paying it no mind.

Summary
"You can’t be serious,” he says, but his voice lacks conviction, because everything about this situation suggests that the man is very serious.
Hands push him forward, downward toward the opening.
“Get the fuck in there,” the man says.
Shane resists for a second, instinct flaring. He turns around to give the man a piece of his mind, but the fucking gun is there, right in his face, and Shane is back to breathing manually again. The man is wearing a balaclava, worst of all, which means Shane could’ve looked at him at any point, have tried to escape at any point, and his fear about seeing the man’s face wouldn’t have mattered at all.
“Okay, okay,” He says breathlessly, and he turns around once more, looking appraisingly down at the crate. So he’d go in there. He’d be alright. He’d comply with the man with a gun, and everything would be fine. There probably wasn’t anything this man wanted that Shane couldn’t figure out.

Summary
“Fuck, wait-” Shane barely had time to gasp out before he was losing his footing too, and he had just enough time to shove Ilya toward the rock wall, back to a safe position, and by doing so flinging himself away. He stumbled, feet searching for purchase against the ground but finding nothing but open air and he tumbled backwards into freefall.
It was as though he was falling forever, staring up as Ilya became distant. It couldn’t have been this far up, but the fall was taking years. At some point there was going to be a landing.

Chapter 1 - The metros bus crashes, they are kidnapped by mysterious organ harvesters, angst ensues. Metros are not evil in this one.
Chapter 2 - Shane and Ilya go for a hike, Shane takes a tumble, Ilya will never let him live this down.
Chapter 3- Shane has finished his last season with the Metros and is feeling angsty and gets drunk. Metros are evil in this one.

Summary
One man grabs his shoulder, spinning him around, and you could chalk it up to exhaustion, surprise, or just stupidity, but he doesn’t react immediately. A fist collides with his cheekbone and stars burst in front of his eyes, the force of the hit sending him careening to his right. He catches himself, doubled over, and before he can go down he swings his fist upwards, feeling it connect with fabric and a body. Whoever is in front of him backs up and Shane stands up right. He's surrounded by 3 guys in ski masks now circling him, one of them bent over double.
“The fuck?” He says, his voice a higher register than normal. He's not nearly fast enough to break away before a hand fists around the back of his jacket, jerking him backwards against the car. His skull cracks against the metal and he grunts involuntarily, hearing a sharp ringing in his ears. His hands come up and cradle his head as he feels warmth cascading down his head. Suddenly he feels like he's on a boat, swaying side to side, and before he can stop himself he’s sliding towards the ground.

Summary
“You are planning to rob me or what?” He hears Rozanov call, and he can’t help but smile slightly even as he rolls his eyes, closing the door to the linen closet and feeling strangely lighter than when he opened it, reassured that he’s just trying to read into a blank page, that today doesn’t mean anything more than Rozanov doesn’t mind him being around, which is strangely flattering.
“I don’t know,” he calls back. “Don’t Russians like diamonds and fur and stuff? Where should I start looking if I want to know what my options are?”
He hears Rozanov laugh, and it makes him smile.
When he joins him in the living room once more, Rozanov tugs him down to lean against him again. Shane goes easier this time, settling into it, knowing it doesn’t mean anything other than the fact that he just happens to be the closest warm body, the person on Rozanov’s roster who filled today’s slot.

“Is there a catastrophe with the spreadsheet or—?” David trailed off, waiting for Patrick to respond.
“David, I just don’t feel well,” Patrick finally answered, his voice thin and drawn. “I am alright.”
His pursed lips turned into a deep frown as he pushed off the door jamb and moved closer to Patrick. His voice had taken on a distinctly bitchy tone as he pointed out, “Umm, not feeling well and being alright are too very different things.”
