    Recently, crew members have gone down for silly stuff that has become increasingly important. He has a habit of ending checkups in “If you need anything, you know where to find me” in the polite professional way, but now he’s really being taken up on the offer.

    It began with Martinez. You hadn’t been there at the time, but you heard that he just spontaneously decided to go down to Beck’s office, make a show of claiming to need medical treatment, and then simply request a hug.

    Which was provided.

    Chris then made a joke in the common area that day, announcing that he was offering his skills in “love and affection” as an over-the-counter pharmacy treatment to anyone starting to feel bad. It had been done with an air of sarcasm and playfulness.

    You had piped up from a game of Poker with Vogel and Johannson. “Did they cover that in med school?”

    To which he firmly nodded and said, “Absolutely. Top of my class.”

    Or: Crew Morale is terrible. Everyone is feeling it. So, the Ship Surgeon starts offering his emotional comfort and support. Everyone is grateful. But for some reason, you're the only one who seems severely against it.

You pay your bills, you keep your head down, and you find whatever lost people or items you're hired to sniff out.

    Then the Devil of Hell's Kitchen tags along on a job, and your plan falls apart.

     

    Starts prior to Into the Ring, and loosely follows the canon timeline. There is eventually smut, so enter at your peril. Reader is never physically described but uses a false name and may be treated as an OC.
