Summary
In the heat of summer, Clive and Joshua read in bed.
“Do you want to keep reading?”
“Yes,” Joshua tilted his head forward and Clive felt the tremble of him stretching his arms. He then pushed his book to the side of the bed.
“Just—let me get comfortable.”
Joshua lifted himself from where he was mostly seated on the bed, to into Clive’s lap proper. He maneuvered Clive’s legs around himself until he got the hint to cross them, allowing Joshua to no longer have to cross his own and to stretch his legs out. He pressed back against Clive until he was flush against his chest, his rear right on Clive’s crotch. Clive stilled for a moment, and cleared his throat. Joshua didn’t seem to realize something was amiss.Bookmarked by silencetrick

Summary
What needed did he have for finely-seasoned meals, for hearty feasts? He had simply been too blind to see it. His mother’s disgust was the rich herbs and spices to flavor his vegetables. Every shred of meat was marinated in her disappointment, her hatred a heaping pile of sweets visible only to his knowing eyes.
It was so simple. What beautiful feasts you’ve made for me, mother.
This fic is not about recovery. Read with discretion.

Bookmarker's Notes
"It’s as if his hand were being cradled by the beast as he dug a small hole in the dirt, heart racing with a sense of inevitability, of danger. He was a reckless child at the edge of a cliff, lifting a foot and letting it dangle over the edge. A child daring the gods to claim him before his time.
Do it. Refuse your mother her gift.
He let himself fall into the waters below"
LOVE. Genius fic, wonderfully written, everything I've ever wanted.

Summary
In the wake of Phoenix Gate, Clive fights to keep his brother's throne. For Joshua, it's a trial of loss he cannot keep from repeating. But he will find a way.
“I know,” Joshua repeats, as Clive’s fingers settle deeper in his hair, carding out the apology he can’t make. “I know you have to go. If we lose Rosalith, we lose—” Rosaria, he means to say, but Clive interrupts him.
“—I lose you. There isn’t a place I could send you on Storm safer than this city.” He smiles. “Allow me to do my duty, lord marquess.” The title sounds funny on his lips.
Joshua rises and sorts himself. “I can order you to stay.” He won’t, and he wouldn’t.
Clive’s smile tugs to one side. “You can try.”

Bookmarker's Notes
Every now and then, you come across a fic so brilliant it's life-changing. I love this one beyond words.
Due for a reread in a few months time so I can expereience it all again with fairly fresh eyes. For now, I'll leave myself in quiet awe. 1000000x recommend. Edit: Somehow even better on reread?!?! Breathtaking story. Perfect.
