Summary
Days in January are short, nights long, weather bleak, roads slippery, the excitement from holidays worn off, winter depression at its peak...and all in all just way too long.
Not to mention the unsung pleasures of living in a hundred year old building with badly installed insulation and heating that barely works. Or the neighbours. God, the neighbours. You'd know.
Or
The three times you (unintentionally) run into your new neighbour and the one time he (intentionally) finds you. -

I’m sorry. Have I ever told you that? If I did, did you even believe it? I’m not sure if I would believe it if I were you, but I’m still sorry. I didn’t mean for everything to turn out the way it did with Javi, then Ben, then everybody else, but it’s still my fault. I don’t expect you to forgive me, but I want you to know that I’m sorry.
Out there, I thought that I was fearless. Here, I don’t think I’ve ever been so afraid. They claim that they’re making me feel better, but I feel like I get worse with every passing day. I don’t know when they’ll let me out, or if they even will. I don’t know if I should even be allowed to go out. Nothing feels real anymore.
OR: A series of letters sent between Lottie Matthews and Natalie Scatorccio over the course of several months, the moments in between, and what happens after.

Summary
Joel rarely gets calls from unfamiliar numbers, so his tone is gruff and cautious when he answers.
“Is this Joel Miller?” Asks the girl on the other end.
“Who’s this?” He demands.
“Oh, right. My name is Ellie Williams. I’m a criminal justice student at the university. I was calling to see-“
“Don’t call me again,” his voice is a growl, rage seeping into his veins as he puts together the purpose of this call.
“Mr. Miller, please just give me a minute. I run a true crime podcast about unsolved cases. We’ve already solved two-“
“Don’t call me again, do you hear?”
“Listen, there’s some evidence in your daughter's case that was overl-“
Joel hangs up the phone. For good measure, he blocks the number like Tommy showed him how to do.
(Joel's daughter was murdered 20 years ago, and it's still unsolved. Ellie runs a true crime podcast. - AKA finding eachother in every universe- true crime AU)

Summary
After becoming District 12's escort at the age of twenty-two, Effie Trinket is forced to work alongside Haymitch Abernathy, the embittered sole survivor of the Second Quarter Quell. Both fractured by hidden traumas, their resentment of each other becomes complicated by their mutual longing for human connection.
Content: Most pivotal to this story is the theme of trauma. One significant plot point is Effie's backstory as a victim of childhood sexual abuse. This will never be shown graphically - however, allusions will be made to the nature of her abuse & how it continually affects her as an adult. There will be canon-typical violence, substance abuse, disordered eating, self harm, & dystopian atrocities. There will also be sexual content.
I also post about this fic on my Tumblr (incubationformadness).

Summary
Nat slows, hands in her jacket pockets and brows slightly raised because she’s never exactly been close with Lottie.
Yet there she is, peeling a menacing gaze away from the group of boys and settling a soft one upon Natalie once she spots her, all long brown hair and tan skin and god, Nat is always fucking winded at how tall she is.

—Do you have any weapons on you?
—I have a longing that's killing me.

Summary
“Who better to stand in my stead, to stand as the Crown,” Viserys raises his hands, like he’s about to shock them all with his wisdom, “Than its trueborn heir.”
Rhaenyra preens at the praise, the recognition. “Thank you, Father.”
“And the Queen.”
The smile drops from her face.
OR
[Post-1x06] The King sends Rhaenyra and Alicent to strengthen ties with the North. Alicent lasts two days with a chill that reaches her bones; and then she finds a solution.
