Summary
Ilya Rozanov believes he is at good at noticing things about Shane Hollander. It's hard for him not to; he's gorgeous and Ilya finds it difficult to look anywhere else but where Shane is. Not a particularly good look for hockey team rivals, but Ilya stopped giving a fuck a long time ago. He would rather stare at Shane and count all of his beautiful freckles that cover his nose and cheeks than look at all the non-Shanes everywhere else. Ilya notices all the little things about Shane like the way his nose scrunches when he laughs, and how literal he is sometimes, and that he gets anxious about things, but also that Ilya can calm him down, because Ilya is never not thinking about Shane.
He's been haunted by Shane in the best possible way for years at this point, and he never wants it to stop.

“Or Mexico,” Ilya says. “So you can be so boring and not drink tequila.” He expects Shane to maybe laugh, or get bossy and tell Ilya to get on with it. He does not expect him to go stock-still in his arms and fall completely silent.
“Shane?”
“I – I,” Shane stammers. “I don’t want to go there.” He doesn’t sound happy any more, at all. He sounds scared and confused.
Ilya’s mind has started to race but he forces his voice to stay calm. He has only heard Shane mention Mexico twice, once to say his parents were going there on holiday.
Once when Ilya asked about other men Shane’s been with.---
Ilya and Shane talk about Shane's encounter with another guy that time in Mexico. Shane doesn't have good memories. Ilya takes care of him.

“My father is a piece of shit,” Rozanov murmured, his breath warm against Shane’s mouth. “He will make changes. This sale is for him, to show Russian power.” He applied more pressure with his thumb. “But for my favorite player… maybe I can stop him.”
Shane knew he shouldn’t do it. He knew it was a line, crossed and gone. But his lips parted. He let Rozanov’s thumb slide into his mouth. He closed his lips around it He swirled his tongue over the pad of Rozanov’s thumb.
Above him, Rozanov’s composure shattered.
(or, Ilya's father is buying Montreal Metros so he requests the captain and his long-time one-sided crush to give him a tour. It ends just like we expect it to.)
