Summary
Draco Malfoy was a coward and he couldn't do it: he couldn't bring himself to kill Dumbledore even to save his parents. So he confessed everything to the Headmaster and awaited his sentence.
Hermione Granger could never love a coward: she valued courage too much for this. But even though Ron was the most courageous person she ever met, she couldn't bring herself to love him as well. And she knows she'll break his heart.
Honestly, Harry and Ginny were just along for the jokes and the revolution (and Ron is having an existencial crisis).

“I’ll admit. I’m impressed, though I do have about a million questions. First and foremost, how have I never seen you at St. Mungo’s while you’re testing and developing this stuff? Do I even want to know?”
Fred uncrossed his arms and smiled.
“Ha. Easy. We’ve developed our own remedies or mastered Healing spells for most standard burns, bruises, black eyes, hair regrowing emergencies, you name it.”
He was casual about it. This extraordinary show of magic from product ideation, to creation, to Healing - it was all remarkable. He shrugged it off as if it was another Friday evening for him. Maybe it was.
Hermione shifted on her feet. The tingling she felt in her chest as she looked up at Fred was back. It was a pesky sensation - fleeting over the years as she found herself in close proximity to this confident, buoyant, firecracker of a Weasley. Similar to George but miles apart at the same time. He made her catch her breath outright at times with his brilliance, his heart, and his ability to get under her skin.

Summary
“Are you alright?” Hermione asked Fred once she’d found a better arrangement in his lap. Trying not to interrupt a dare that had George and Angelina swapping clothing across the room, she added under her breath, “I'm sorry if I’m crushing you.”
“You’re definitely not crushing me,” Fred replied with a quiet, if slightly rueful laugh. There was a trace of tension in his voice as he spoke, and she glanced up to make sure it wasn’t a lie – because hang the game, she would get off of him if he was uncomfortable.
He didn't appear outwardly upset, but he certainly seemed jittery about something.
“Here, I can just say that I need to use the loo-“ she swung her legs sideways so her back was to his chest and made to move off of the chair when his grip around her waist tightened abruptly and she was pulled back into him.
Warm breath ghosted over the back of her neck as Fred said in a low voice that shot straight down her spine, “Hermione, I really need you not to get up right now.”
