He sounded more nasally than he did on the norm’. Shane walked over to the bed, stepping over some crunched up tissues to get to it. “Hey, hey… how are you?”
“I am dead.” He grunted, pushing himself up against the headboard, just slightly. He reached out and took Shane’s hand, bringing it to his face that was molten to the touch.
Or: Ilya Rozanov bails out on going to one of his home games… that’s how you know it’s bad. Shane takes up the duty of taking care of him.

He fixed his tie in the mirror, brushing his hair out of his face. His hand lingered in his hair for a second, before he pulled it out and audibly said, “What the fuck am I doing?!”
Shane Hollander was putting on formal attire to have sex with his arch rival. That’s what he was doing.
This is fucking stupid, he thought, and started loosening the tie.
And then he heard a knock on the door.
Shane’s blood ran cool. It was Rozanov.
Or: Rozanov shows up a few minutes early, and Shane has to open the door wearing his suit.

Rozanov leaned against one of the racks, giving Shane a look that riveted him. “Two options. You strip to under clothes and measurements are good. Or, wear this and costume is bad and review to me is bad.”
Shane swallowed. Neither of those were good options. He was never going to see Rozanov, so he ventured toward the first option. But his dignity was barely intact, and the second option would destroy it completely. Rozanov didn’t mean his words in a malevolent way, but he seemed exasperated with Shane already.
So he took his clothes off, not knowing what it would lead to.
