He's relieved that he was able to convince Matt against more hamburgers, narrowly escaping a pickle-flavored kiss. Speaking of, Jay watches the couple on the big screen smile and wave goodbye, replaced by a bright advertisement for concessions.
"We might be next!" Matt says, turning his head close to yell in Jay's ear.

For a second he'd wondered if everything else had been a dream. If he was finally waking up now, after all these years. That Never Come Down had never been a hit, that he'd never been famous at all. That it was him and Matt who were going on tour.
That was something they used to talk about. After booking the Rivoli, they'd tour Canada and the U.S. as Nirvanna the Band. A road trip adventure. Jay had such a clear image in his mind of Matt coming up with some crazy promotional stunt for them, something like jumping into the Grand Canyon.
“You with me, Bird?”
But no, that couldn't be right. Jay was the same Jay he'd always been. He was still in his Hawaiian shirt from the concert. He was in restraints.
“Did you—" He blinked at Matt in front of him. "You kidnapped me?”
Matt stood up, a little taken back. “How else would I be able to talk to you?"
