“Do you remember what you told me before that battle?”
Henry’s eyes search his. Hans knows that he knows although he says, “Remind me.”
“You told me that courage in the face of fear is a knightly virtue,” Hans says, kicking at a loose pebble at his feet. It skitters between them, settling just shy of Henry’s boots. “And that being brave is something that you have to learn.”
Henry kicks the stone back. “Are you afraid now?”
Opportunities present themselves at the siege of Suchdol, and love makes Hans brave.

“Is this any good?”
Hans’s breath has a stuttering quality to it. He says, “I honestly don’t know. You’re making me rethink my entire life.”
“Christ,” Henry says, his breath huffing against Hans in a tiny laugh, and Hans shivers again as the heat of his breath meets the relative coolness of the evening air, both touching him at the same time. “I don’t think it’s supposed to be like that.”
“You don’t think? Hasn’t a girl ever sucked you off before?”
Henry purses his lips for a moment, pressing them together. When he relaxes his mouth again, blood rushes back to his lips and paints them a darker shade of pink. “Um. No.”
At the Devil’s Den, two beginners teach themselves and each other something new.
