"You'll be good for me, won't you?" II asks, but Vessel knows it's not really a question; it's an expectation.
Vessel nods, unable to find his voice for some time until II fixes a lethal fucking glare on him. "Y-yeah. Uhm, yes. Yes, sir." He stumbles out, shrinking beneath the weight of II's intensity.
"Good. Good boy." II murmurs—quick, short, and in a way that makes pure heat blossom in Vessel's stomach. There's a soft wince from III as II slowly drags the rope trapped beneath his shoe closer to him, forcing III's arms to lift off of the ground with how taut II is making the rope to be. "Well? Go on, then. Bite."

Well, at least, that's what he assumes that Vessel must think of him: 'dead'. He hasn't responded to his childhood friend in almost ten years, even forced his mother to never speak of him to Vessel, because they both knew that the man would come running when II suddenly disappeared.
(As far as II was concerned, he really did die that day—whoever he was before dropped dead as soon as the car crashed into his right side with a brutal kiss of metal teeth and the sweet tease of death.
He might as well be deceased.)

"Of course I did, my love." Vessel willingly admits with a lazy grin, not even bothering to deny anything. "Would you believe me if I said I even helped?"
"Oh my god!" II cries, incredulously. "I'm fucking surrounded by bastard wolves." All of them laugh at II, but there's a warm feeling blooming that quickly overshadows whatever feelings of light annoyance had been nestled deep in his chest.

“I keep telling you to stop looking at me like that,” II huffs, pushing his weight back against the riverbank until he can feel the filthy hands of the earth curl around his neck and shoulders.
“An’ I keep tellin’ you that ya look like fuckin’ shit,” III snarks back, inching his way closer as though he were trying to approach a wounded animal, “but I guess we both can’t take a goddamn hint, huh?”
Despite his better judgment, II does laugh at his fellow vessel’s jab. To be fair, it was a little funny, and more than a little true, but II’s also lost quite a bit of blood; he’s allowed to make some silly decisions.
