Summary
The bathroom is anything but silent with his music still playing and the water still going, but it’s like Zanka has gone deaf with how quiet his head is. There’s only one thing on his mind.
It should be him. It will be him. Zanka has worked too hard, gone too far, for Jabber to put another barrier between them. Zanka can accept that he’s smarter than him. Stronger than him. Better than him. But he won’t accept him acting like they’re not meant to be. Like they don’t need each other.
The water stops at the same time his speaker dies, leaving Zanka in an almost opaque silence as he dries off.
Zanka will have Jabber. Whether Jabber likes it or not.
Or; Zanka needs Jabber. Jabber needs Zanka, even if he's acting like he doesn't. That's okay. He'll learn.

He’ll smile and wave and defend his plate from Rudo and gossip with Enjin and let Riyo brush his hair into whatever hairstyle she needs to practice for cosmetology school. Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow, he’ll be upright and well-adjusted.
Tonight, he calls Jabber.
Or: If Zanka could figure out how to rid himself of his want, he would. Luckily for Jabber, he can't.

Zanka seemed to perk up at his voice.
“No,” he said quietly.
“Yer just really pretty.”
Jabber’s brain stalled. What.
“Like yer so pretty, it’s hard to not keep lookin’.” Zanka mumbled, a dopey grin spreading across his face.
Huh.
or: All Jabber wanted to do was test out a new toxin. So what if it doesn't have the intended affect? So what if Zanka is alarmingly affectionate and sweet on him. He's not handling it well - but it doesn't hurt to keep experimenting...right?
