He watched, in horror, as Lance remained there. Unmoving. Seemingly, not breathing. The darkness of space enveloped the scene, and Keith felt like he was being swallowed whole by the goddamn space whale itself.
Then, his feet phased through the bottom of the cockpit, and, with the memory of Lance’s piercing, shattering scream ringing through his eardrums, Keith fell.

Keith looks between the children and the hat, too confused to glare, sweaty and horrid from pulling weeds beneath the scorching sun. “What?”
“That’s wrong,” Nadia complains, and yanks her brother down to her level to whisper the correction in his ear.
“Ooh,” Silvio amends. “Tía Veronica said you have a pale ass. My Abuela said you’re gonna die.”
OR
When Lance is fatally wounded during their final battle, the blue lion enters a deep hibernation with Lance inside. Unsure when or if he’ll wake, Keith is forced to wait and watch over him in the company of the people he fears most: Lance’s family.
