Summary
Rin never had any lovers. To love is to be vulnerable and that was something Rin never let himself be. The closest thing to a lover Rin had was Julian, but they never touched or kissed. Can you call yourselves lovers if there wasn’t physical intimacy? Or are lovers companions? If so, Isagi was Rin’s lover. It was the longest time he spent alone with someone other than his brother. However, time with Isagi was always spent competing with each other and going at each other’s throats. It was a race to see who could outsmart the other, never a moment of peace. Isn’t love supposed to be patient and gentle?
Who could ever love a monster like Rin?
All Rin wanted, desperately, was to not be alone. It was something he never admitted to himself. He wanted a family, somewhere to belong. Rin wanted a love that didn’t hurt. Oh, so that was why they called him. Come to think of it, they just went back to school – of course, Rin’s birthday wouldn’t be that far away. Sae looked at the tablet and scrolled down, observing every toy displayed there and shook his head. That his parents didn’t know what Rin would want was far from surprising – it was no wonder that they needed Sae’s help.
“Is there something he likes that we don’t know about?”
Plenty. In the first place, Rin didn’t talk to anyone that wasn’t Sae so, of course, they wouldn’t know anything.
Or: Sae gets asked to chose a birthday present for Rin.
