Summary
Wanderer could not understand how Aether could find desire in this constructed body. It is smooth to the touch vs the soft flesh of the traveler. Up close one can hear the mechanization of artificial joints click differently to an adventure weary bone pop. His cold touches make Aether shudder and what were nerves but electrical signals, anyway? The artificially-made lifeform's softest part of his body was not his hair but his tongue that could taste. They shared that much, experienced differently.
Wanderer tries to be a bitter know it all, but with touches like this...and words too consistently kind to be lies, his mind begins to feel different about it.

Anaxa thought they were just wolves.
Despite having an encounter that permanently blinded his left eye, he remained on their side. Telling himself that they were just mysterious, whimsical shadows in his backyard. Cold, watchful eyes in the forests. Graceful creatures that ran with the wind and played with the snow and howled at the moon.
But that strange blue eyed wolf never left him alone after what had happened. It watched him, hiding just at the edge of his yard, unmoving, careful, and silent. He and the wolf were two separate lifeforms, living in a state of wariness and curiosity. But strangely disappeared when the snow melted in the spring.
Everything was normal to him, an unchanging cycle as the years went by.
Until one of Anaxa's students was killed; that he realised that not everything in these woods was what they seemed.
