Baby fever, the Internet read, but it didn't quite match what he was feeling. Sure, he craved something youthful and loud, but it ran deeper than that, right into something wrong.
It's been a while since Vessel had felt small, but now he could still sense the warmth of IV's body behind him, and the itch to pull at his hair had subsided now that he could feel the air on his scalp. It lulled him securely into that feeling of warmth and happiness. That feeling of being little

Summary
He remembers, eyes squeezed shut against the swell of nausea and vertigo that claws through him, being not-quite-thirteen, and listening eagerly to Mr. Clarke explain the science behind dreams.
“Dreams,” he’d said, “are often seen as these sacred experiences, something that has to have a deeper meaning. We have centuries of examples of dream interpretation, the art of examining commonalities between different dreams to find a single interpretation.”
“The thing is,” he’d continued, “dreams are just your brain’s way of processing and regurgitating information; a fruit-salad of information, so-to-speak. Sure, it can mean something, but it’s more likely to be a random grab-bag of facts and feelings that you’ve come across in life.”
A fruit-salad of information. Here, in the dark bathroom at a little past three in the morning, Mike breathes carefully, and tries to dissect where the supposed ingredients of his fucked-up dream salad actually came from.
Or:
Vecna is weak. Injured. He's still strong enough to hit the Party where it hurts.

Summary
“N-No! You can’t c-call the kids, ok-kay?! They’re not responsible f-for me. I’m an adult, B-Billy. I c-can handle it. I probably just g-got the flu, like you t-told Coach.”
“Princess, this is not the flu. I don’t want to freak you out or scare you or anything, but unfortunately I’ve seen some horrible shit in my life, and I can say for damn sure that you’re suffering from either Major Touch Withdrawal or the early stages of Acute Isolation Syndrome.”
Steve huffed and flopped back onto the couch, pretending the move was intentional and not because his legs suddenly gave out from under him.
---
Steve, suddenly cut off from the people he considered pack, notices his body starting to shut down. Billy, an aggressive new Alpha at Hawkins High, understands exactly what's going on: Steve is showing the early symptoms of Acute Isolation Syndrome, which can be fatal if left untreated. Shockingly, Billy offers to help Steve out in secret - for Max's sake, of course.

Summary
The omega was collapsed in a heap on the ground, tan sheets tangled messily around his bare legs.
He was also very naked.
“Holy shit, are you-“
Will’s eyes met his, and they were feral.
“Mike, that was a mistake.”

Summary
Was…was Mike’s heart reacting to Will?
Mike isn’t looking at him. He’s staring hard at his cards as if he hasn’t seen them before, biting his inner cheek, and accentuating his dimple. As Will looks closer, he notices the pink shade spreading over the shell of Mike’s ear, the red emerging from the black curls like a rose sprouting from the earth.
Was Mike still nervous around him? Hadn’t they resolved that?
Will decides to test it. He leans onto the bed and rests a hand on Mike’s uninjured thigh, his thumb swiping side to side over the covers, and waits.
Mike's leg twitches into his hand, and barely a moment passes before the beeps speed up again, a rapid climb from steady to sprinting, and when Will looks, the blush has spread to Mike’s cheeks, his eyes unmoving and glued to his cards.
Oh. Will gapes at the monitor, the green spiking line. That's not discomfort.
Oh. He can have some fun with this.
Or: Mike, while protecting Will, gets attacked by a demogorgon. Guilt-ridden, Will stays with him in the hospital, forcing them to resolve the awkward air that has surrounded them for months, and, along the way, uncover some truths.
