Everyone knows that there are certain rules you must follow in order to survive a slasher film. You must not get inebriated, you must not make foolish decisions, and you must never break off from the group to go argue with your enemy in the woods only for you two to end up fornicating against a tree.
Of course, it's rather hard to follow the rules when you don't actually know you're in a slasher film.
