Summary
In a world where vampires threaten the freedom of all things living, humans are confined to scattered city state havens and small kingdoms. Humanity lives in fear of the monsters lurking past their protective walls, few seeing the wilderness beyond.
Chise, the sheltered daughter of a Lord, is sent to burn at the stake for witchcraft when she is saved by Elias, a mysterious recluse and feared vampire. His actions and intentions, however, turn out to be quite contrary to everything she knows vampires stand for, and he has made one vow: to protect her.
A guest at his castle, she slowly begins to uncover the truth of the world she lives in, and its history. Amongst the creatures of the night and the threat of humanity which has turned its back on her, she must choose what life she wants to live, and how to keep herself safe.

Summary
Chise Hatori, now nineteen, is living the dream life with her family. Long past are the horrors of her past, yet she's plagued by dreams of a radically different kind than what she's used to. Dreams of Elias, now her husband, dreams that stir up desires in her she's never known before.
The challenges of navigating a whole new aspect to being human lay before her, but it's not just her mind that needs to be made up, she has to decide whether her feelings are worth pursuing. Elias' thoughts and desires can still be as much of a mystery to her as the day she met him, and perhaps this particular problem can not resolve the way she wants. Can she hide her need from Elias, or more precisely, resist it long enough to figure out what to do with it? Or is her distant silence pushing him away? Meanwhile, the Thorn Child struggles with his own demons.

Summary
“Come here,” Kiryu says, without thinking. God—Komaki would fucking kill him if he found out.
Or he’d at least try, Kiryu thinks, a little smugly. Komaki’s best student checking out his grandson. But there’s a strange heat in his blood. Kiryu wants him, suddenly, all-encompassingly, desperately. This hot-headed, host-looking brat who likes to hit him. Why’s that so comforting? There’s nothing to question about Sosuke.

Summary
He smells more than sees Majima for approximately a second before he’s shoved against the wall with considerable strength. Majima’s mouth, pressed to his hard enough to bruise, is so cold. He’s soaked, and shivering in spasms against Kiryu’s chest.

Summary
“What’s your kyoudai like?”
Kiryu’s voice is so deep. It’s like a glass marble rolling on velvet.
Saejima doesn’t know what to say. Majima seems as distant as the slotted sky through bars right now, made of smoke he can’t grasp, broken images of a manic grin and brilliant eyes and clever hands that never stopped moving, faded like old photographs.
“The strongest person I’ve ever known,” he says finally, his voice weird and unnatural. He hasn’t talked so much in so long. “Burning so bright, all the time.”

Summary
“First time with a man?”
Kiryu’s cheeks burned. He could lie. And maybe if it had been anybody else, if it were a pretty hostess or that Poppo cashier with the nose ring that always gave him an extra hot bun, he would have. But this was Majima. He hated being lied to. It felt wrong to lie to him.
“First time, period,” he muttered.
