Summary
Eddie’s gaze drop to Buck’s lips—pink, like his birthmark. Eddie wants to taste those lips, and he wants it with a fierceness so sudden it shocks him.
“I’m, uh,” Buck stammers. “Last night. When you saw me and Tommy…we—we were on a date.”
Everything inside Eddie goes still. If his heart is a kite, then this is the moment it plummets back to earth.
or, Buck tells Eddie some news. Eddie has a realization and breaks up with his girlfriend. Not necessarily in that order.

Summary
Evan Buckley’s undying and unconditional friendship has kept him going. Through thick and thin. “I’d know,” he whispers, trying to get a hold of himself, “If Buck was… If Buck was, you know, on a date, I'd know.”
Marisol sounds very careful when she speaks next, “He tells you about every single date he goes on to?”
“No! Of course he doesn’t.”
“So why would you know about this one?”
“Because!” He says, feeling dizzy by how his stomach swirls painfully, “If Buck was,” Eddie swallows around the world, unable to say them out loud just yet,“If Buck was on a date, with a-”
He doesn’t finish his sentence. Marisol understands nonetheless.
“Oh,” her voice is soft, kind. She sounds genuinely sorry,“Oh, you didn't know.”
OR : Eddie finds out that Buck is dating men, is brutally confronted with the idea of losing what they share and forced to look inward into his own heart and own desires.
