    Summary

He never wanted to kill himself—at least not any more than a normal person did—and if he didn't use tools, it didn't count as self-harm.

James Wilson is completely normal and he's doing fine, until he isn't. A patient unwillingly drags up Wilson's childhood trauma and now he's overwhelmed, overstimulated, and scratching himself again for the first time in years—but he isn't cutting himself, so it's not really self-harm, right? He's fine.

OR: James Wilson is gay, autistic, traumatised and highly repressed about all of the above.

    Summary

It was a major misconception that House was incapable of experiencing positive empathetic emotions. He certainly felt them. Frequently, in fact. But they just weren’t as comfortable for him as the almost routine misery and chaos that he felt most often.  When he was feeling one of these positive emotions, he would occasionally feel the urge to do something kind, but it rarely worked out well for him.  People weren’t receptive to a brief moment of kindness after being subjected to hours of his sarcastic put downs.

Somewhere along the way one person became an exception to this deeply ingrained habit.

    Summary

'He just takes in the sight of House, loose and pliant and beautiful despite the pain he’s in - the glazed look in his eyes, the way his mouth drops open, the way he presses his nose into Wilson’s palm. The way he digs his teeth into Wilson’s skin.

“Ow!” he yelps, quickly withdrawing his hand as the tender mood vanishes without a trace. “What the hell was that for?”'

    or:

Sometimes, when House gets too overwhelmed by his emotions, he gets a little bitey. This is five times House bites Wilson, and one time Wilson finally bites him back.

    Summary

"House has read every paper on it from early publications in 100-year-old books, to recent things in Nature and other prestigious journals. It is understood that humans in love have a physical manifestation of that, though the “love organ” or whatever that is has never been found. The only time it is found is when it’s necrotic, infected, and dying from the flowers and plants taking root in there. It’s not in healthy individual lungs, so no one knows where it hides if it’s there at all. Secondly, not all unrequited love or a perception of unrequited love triggers Hanahaki. Psychiatric journals publish every day conflicting evidence on what the psychological trigger is. It’s really hard to say, and then there’s the groups of people who talk about destiny, fate, and soulmates and it gets a thousand times more convoluted.

A take on House MD in which Gregory House has had a chronic form of Hanahaki Disease for 18 years that is now going into relapse while he lives with Wilson in the Condo (set during season 6-ish).

    Summary

Wilson could play along, act like this was any other evening. He dropped his keys in the bowl, slipped out of his shoes, stared at the back of House's head and tried to guess how hard he would have to grovel before House would forgive him. "How was your date?"

"If by date, you mean a kidnapping orchestrated by the man who claims to be my best friend, then it was fine." House paused, he still hadn't turned to face the door but Wilson could picture the look of betrayal on his face. The question was how much of it was being played up for the drama, and how much was real. "Where fine means worse than the time those frat boys convinced me to drink beer out of a shoe." So fifty-fifty.

    ----

An alternative ending to Bait and Switch by ORiley42. What if Wilson couldn't win House in the bachelor auction? How would that conversation play out in the aftermath?
