In the dark of the cabin, in the closeness of the small, crammed cot they share, Rey squints. For a moment. And then her eyes blow open. Her whole body tenses against his. She feels her breath catch tight in her throat. But she has to ask him.
“K—Kylo?”
He tilts his brow, til it taps softly against hers. Close enough the Rey can feel the shape of his breath. Just enough distance to see the soft glint of snow shining in his eyes.
“Hi, Kira.”
They meet again on a Nordic train.
