Angel, he just hoped that it was just cats fighting–even though it sounded nothing like a cat– and not an animal that he ran over.

Noelle was used to this. She really was. She didn't know why it felt so weird tonight. She had always been afraid of interrupting their fight in fear of accidentally getting involved in it, but for some reason, tonight, she wanted nothing more than to tell them to just stop already. To go to sleep. Talk about whatever it was in the morning after calming down. Maybe it was the fact that she had a presentation due tomorrow and needed some sleep, or the fact that their argument was louder than usual this time. Whatever it was, the worry of it was eating her inside out.

Chara paused, and something in them loosened. Their shoulders fell. "Don't you ever think, Azzy, about… how much simpler it would be? If everyone just went away?"
Asriel's stomach lurched. "What do you mean?"
"I mean..." Their voice drew unusually low and almost dreamy. Even when falling asleep, Chara was totally precise with their words, like the air was waiting to hear them. "If it was just us. You and me. Nobody else in the world."
"That sounds..." Asriel didn't want to say. "Lonely?"
"I'd like it." Chara's eyes caught his from under a fringe of brown hair. "I wouldn't have to pretend anymore. I wouldn't have to think about how to talk with anyone, or do the right things at the right times. Not if it was just us. And. And. Nobody would be able to hurt anyone anymore. Nobody would get hurt again."
What happened between the Dreemurr children after the buttercups, but before the tragedy.
Asriel makes a promise to himself that he hopes he never has to keep.

Summary
Susie was never someone they thought they’d have to worry about. Initially, she and them had somewhat kept their distance from one another. Susie had been a bully; they had been a victim.
It had been a pretty ideal role for someone like them to play out. They wouldn’t have to worry about making mistakes – wouldn’t have to open up, or cram themselves into a box trying to escape their own deceit.
But then, suddenly, she wasn’t a bully.
And, therefore, they were no longer a victim either.
Kris agonises over the entanglement of lies that they've trapped themselves within. Susie is partially the cause.
written for day twenty two of krusietober, following the prompt 'lies' !!!!
