Summary
Samira didn’t speak. Couldn’t, really. She just stood there in the doorway, mouth parted, brain failing to keep up with her pulse.
Emery arched an eyebrow. “What?”
“You—” Samira gestured vaguely. “Your hair.”
or: Emery gets a haircut. Samira has some feelings about that.

Summary
PTMC's board of directors declares the animosity between the surgery and emergency medicine departments has gone too far after their inability to work together causes them to lose a patient. To fix this, they decide to make every emergency medicine resident shadow a surgeon for a twenty-four-hour shift, and vice versa, in hopes they’ll learn to better coexist.
Unfortunately for Samira, she gets paired with Doctor Walsh.
Or: Samira, Emery, and the forty-eight hours they're forced to spend together.

Summary
She shakes her head again. “I don’t know. I’d rather spend my time helping other people find love. It’s never been important to me.”
Samira Mohan is a good matchmaker. An excellent one. She loves studying people, getting to know them, figuring out what makes them work well with a partner. She loves her job, she loves watching other people get happy endings. She never needed a happy ending of her own. That is, until she meets Emery Walsh at a wedding.

Summary
Samira’s eyes drift to Emery, and she smiles, and Emery knows it’s over for her. It doesn’t matter what Samira says or does when she sits down across from her. Emery knows she’ll never be able to stop loving her. Loving Samira is just too easy. She feels the tension inside her uncoil for the first time in two months, and it’s the most painful relief she’s ever felt.
Things with Samira were good, or so Emery had thought, but she came home one night, and suddenly Samira didn’t want to be with her anymore. Two months later and she’s still trying to put herself back together when Samira texts her out of the blue.

Summary
“I think you’re reckless,” Emery growled, stepping forward until there was barely space between them. “You take too many risks.”
Samira’s mouth parted, but whatever she was going to say disappeared somewhere between the thrum of her pulse and the heat radiating off both of them.
And then Emery kissed her.
Maybe Robby was right. Maybe this arguing thing was a form of foreplay.
