Summary
Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov didn’t plan on becoming fathers. Especially not together, and especially not so publicly. But somehow, they end up with a four-year-old daughter, a pair of borrowed skates, and a life that asks them to be braver than either of them has ever learned how to be.
Teaching her to skate is the easy part. Learning how to stand side by side in the rink lobby, how to answer questions about her dads, how to feel safe being seen… that’s harder. With scraped knees, too big of sweaters, and quiet moments of help from friends who show up without hesitation, they begin to understand that love doesn’t arrive fully formed. It’s built slowly, in routine and care.
Sometimes it looks like holding her steady on the ice.
