Summary
He walks carefully until he sees smoke rising in the distance, curling up through the trees. When he gets closer, there’s a small cabin half-buried under a mound of earth and roots, swallowed by the weight of the forest.
The door is open, and he can’t stop himself from stepping inside.
It’s pitch dark, except for the fire burning in the chimney. In the middle of the room stands a tall table with a dark wooden box.
It opens easily. He only has to lift the lid.
Inside, there’s a beating heart.
Arms curl around his waist, a body pressing close against his back. He doesn’t even flinch.
“It’s all yours, Hanbin,” a low voice breathes against his ear. “Take it.”

Summary
One of Hanbin's eyes snaps open. A slight smile unfurls on his lips. "Were you looking for me in class yesterday?"
The raspiness in his voice makes the hairs on Zhang Hao's arm stand on end. "I was just doing what the Principal asked," he defends, but his face burns. Caught.
"I get it," Hanbin says. The covers slide off his shoulders when he stretches, showing a white tank top and bare, square shoulders. A sleepy smile tugs on his lips as he puts his hands on the mattress to push his body to a sitting position. "A good boy like you follows the rules and does what he's told, right?"
Zhang Hao is a church boy. Hanbin is not.

Summary
The lights danced on his face, and Hanbin’s Adam’s apple bobbed up and down with a heavy swallow. He extended a hand.
“I’m Hanbin.”
The man regarded him cautiously. There was a hint of curiosity in him, and Hanbin felt studied, but he didn’t mind the close scrutiny. He liked the feeling of having this man sizing him up, as if testing if he was worth talking to, spending time with. And Hanbin truly wanted to be worth his appraisal.
Hanbin had never truly known love, but he was content with his girlfriend and the life they shared. When she suggested going to a sex club, even though he wasn't too pleased with the idea, Hanbin agreed to go with her. He didn't plan to meet the love of his life while he was there.
Or: they swing and fall in love.

Summary
Hanbin’s head is craned upwards, the sharp angle of his chin the only detail Zhang Hao can see clearly in the dark. His racing heart stops suddenly in his chest, his stomach dropping at the sight of Hanbin's figure—the man he would have been able to recognize in any crowd. It is not Hanbin.
A dark shadow, an unknowable figure, the blurring of his vision. There is something inside Hanbin, and Zhang Hao knows it is not his husband.

Summary
“If only everyone else saw how deranged their Prince was. Joseon would fold itself in half if they saw you the same way I do.” Zhang Hao reaches his hands from Hanbin’s shoulders to begin unpinning the topknot from the top of his head.
”I’ll fold you in half,” Hanbin lewdly suggests as his long hair falls to his shoulders as Zhang Hao’s fingers run through it.
“I’d rather be the one doing the folding, Your Highness. Joseon would really burn to the ground if they knew their future king was spreading his legs for a Qing man, wouldn’t they?”
Or: Hanbin is the Crown Prince of the kingdom of Joseon and Hao is his Royal Tutor.
