He doesn’t get the chance, however, because Victor scoops him in for a group photo, throwing one arm around Otabek’s shoulders and settling his free hand over Katsudon’s, who gingerly cradles his stomach from where Yuri elbowed him earlier. Victor shares it online along with the caption “new addition to the family!” and social media promptly explodes as people try to decide whether he means Katsudon is knocked up or whether Yuri and Otabek have come to Japan to elope.

“Have we met these people before?”
“Don’t be mean, Victor,” chides Yuuri. “You know who JJ and Isabella are. Our wedding completely overshadowed theirs, remember?”
“I have no recollection of that happening,” says Victor.
“You mean you weren’t paying any attention.”
JJ wilts at the lack of acknowledgement, so Yuuri takes pity on him with a hug and a kiss.
“Good luck to you too,” he says, but JJ, frozen in panic, doesn’t hear it.
He also never really recovers for his short programme, and Yuuri’s support ends up having the opposite of its intended effect. He’s completely distracted, flubbing one jump after another. Yurio can barely contain his glee.
“Hug him again for the free skate,” he says, but JJ flees in terror before Yuuri can even open his arms.

“How on earth did he manage to reach that conclusion?” Yuuri asks in disbelief.
“I dunno, maybe because you’re holed up here instead of fucking *talking* to him.” Yurio makes a face. “Also, he says he’s going bald from stress. He measures his hairline at least fifteen times a day to see how much it’s receding. The rest of the time he spends googling stuff like ‘why doesn’t my husband love me anymore’ and ‘am I dying or am I just sad’.”

“See you in five days!” Victor says brightly.
Then the line goes dead.
Yakov hurls his phone at the window in impotent rage, and it actually makes a bigger dent than Yurio’s did.
“I wish people would stop doing that,” Georgi sighs.

Summary
Yuuri Katsuki has been betrothed to the High King's son, Victor, since he was just a child; furthermore, as an omega, he's forbidden from practicing magic in combat. For years, he's been able to put off the former because the Prince was traveling abroad, and gotten around the latter by practicing with his mentor in secret.
Now Victor Nikiforov has finally returned home, and Yuuri is being summoned to the capital for their wedding. He needs a plan to put off marriage long enough to find a way to break the betrothal, while keeping his practicing from being discovered.
If only the Prince didn't have other ideas.
