After discovering Geralt fooled them both with his love confessions, Yennefer stormed out of Kaer Morhen to look for an artifact that could help them fight the Wild Hunt. Curious, Triss followed her, even if her company was not welcome. They found the artifact's location without trouble but none of them expected a powerful entity to watch over it. One touch was all it took to send Yennefer into a world where all her fears came true. As an unwanted passenger, it was now up to Triss to help her friend.

Yennefer decides to ask Triss for help deciphering the artifact. Unfortunately for Yennefer, they end up releasing the curse of the artifact, and it binds her to Triss. Now, they can feel each other's emotions. The closer they are, the stronger it is. The farther away they are, they can't feel each other's emotions, but they are stricken with pain like no other. Yennefer's first instinct is to run far, far away. Triss's first instinct is to chase after her.
