Well, He is but He is an abstraction and things aren't the same. Pomni can't sleep and wanders to the abstraction tank to talk to him for a bit and confess some feelings she can't let go of.

Summary
The circus had changed.
With Caine granting the cast more freedom—and revealing what their real lives held outside of the circus—life inside the Digital Circus has become strangely peaceful. But for Pomni, peace feels incomplete. Jax has been asleep for six months. Ever since their last encounter in his mindscape, he hasn’t moved, spoken, or opened his eyes. Pomni becomes the new ringmaster of the circus, with Caine seemingly gone missing. She has to keep everyone safe and stop them from asking questions before all is lost.

She blinks again—once, twice—waiting for him to burst into a sea of light or envelop in darkness the way her dreams always ended with. But he stays, watching over her with so much unabashed hope that it makes her stomach drop.
The realization comes with the force of a slow, rising wave.
"You're not real," she says, still uncomprehending, still waiting for the crash.
Jax laughs, the kind that sounds broken and elated all the while.
"And you still think this is a dream."
