Summary
Beginning in 1976, on the day her brother dies, Kathy Goren’s life becomes anchored to a single date: August 15th. Each year we return to her on that same day, following her from childhood into adulthood through grief, addiction, recovery, and the long process of building a life in the aftermath.
Inspired in structure by One Day, reframing the premise around the before and after of a sibling’s suicide, and the way lives are divided into pre- and post-loss.
This is an OC-centric character study that gradually expands into the Hazy Shade of Winter universe after 1991, as Kathy’s life begins to overlap with characters from Stranger Things. This is a chronological vignette series spanning 1976–1999. This work is intended to be read alongside the original fic.

Summary
It is the winter of 1991. Robin is reeling from a breakup and throwing herself into a documentary about New Yorkers, inspired by Gus the Polar Bear. Will is trying to carve out his independence in a boarding house on Bleecker Street, dating Tom Farkas even as Mike Wheeler begins to make his way back to him. Meanwhile, Mike has abandoned his trip across America to move in with Jonathan, whose already threadbare life begins to fray around the edges.
As their lives overlap once more, old habits, new relationships, and unresolved feelings make it harder to tell who is moving forward and who keeps pacing in circles.

Summary
Gothic Mike Wheeler is a notorious player in college in 1991. He’s not hard to get, just very hard to keep. Art student Will Byers, new boy and miles from home, separated from all he knows and loves, does not listen to copious amounts of advice to stay away from Mike.
A powerful flirtation begins, one that envelops both of them instantly - like a spell.
It becomes something neither of them could have predicted.

How college heartbreaker, Mike Wheeler, falls in love with inexperienced Will Byers, and subsequently himself in the process.
“Mike, I can’t do this, you have to talk to me. This hurts too much.” Will almost shook him, “What’s wrong? Why are you so upset?”
Mike didn’t respond. Will pulled Mike’s face close to his.
“Why don’t you want what’s right in front of you?”
Mike closed his eyes and tears spilled down his cheeks and over Will’s hands.

Summary
Mike is burning up, inside and out.
Externally, there’s a bubbling burn wound carved across his shoulder— but, to be honest, a simple injury is the least of his worries. He’s more concerned with the aggravating, endlessly-perplexing internal dilemma that’s been plaguing his mind for God knows how long; why is he completely incapable of acting normal around Will?
Every time he sees Will— or even dares to look him in the eye— Mike feels this sort of fire burning deep in his chest, hot and all-consuming and completely inexplicable. And, no matter how hard he tries, Mike just can’t figure it out;

Having sold their house in Hawkins a year and a half prior and moved to California, when they came back, and the town got put in lockdown, they didn’t have a place to go.
Mike had kindly offered up their place during dinner.

The 18-month gap between s4 and s5 told from Mike's POV with minor other POV's as the story progresses. The gap has been lengthened to encapsulate more time passing. They start at 16, but by chapter 6 they're 17 1/2 with them turning 18 chapter 32/34.
