“Can I, hm, show you something?”
She agrees earlier than he thought she would, so now he has no choice but to carry on.
Bob goes to the back of the room, where the light almost doesn't reach and the sound dies off, and shares a look with her. Yelena understands and follows him. Facing her, like that, cornered, it took him some time to organize the thoughts inside his head, but Yelena doesn't rush him, she waits, patiently.
But when he does reach for her hand, she flinches and steps back.
“Bob…” The fear in her eyes breaks his heart. He knows what it feels like — remembering it’s one thing, reliving it’s so much worse. But now he is confident enough not only in his abilities, but in himself too.
“Trust me.”
And that, Yelena does.
