Summary
Lynn’s wrapping her arms around her torso, and resting her head against Amanda’s shoulder blade. Lynn says it, says I love you, and Amanda’s sure it’s true. She’s sure she should believe Lynn, but even still the anxious knot in her stomach makes her feel sick.
“Why?” Amanda asks. Her voice is stiff and flat, and it’s short because she fears that if she talks too long then her voice might get too weak, too close to a sob for her liking.

“Ugh,” Amanda moans and takes another hit. Her cheeks hollow prettily as she draws in smoke, and then her mouth parts to allow a plume of smoke out a second later. It’s a good look on her. She makes smoking look good, like stars in those old grey movies – satisfying, sexy.
Lynn itches, squeezes her hand around Amanda’s thigh slightly. “Give me some of that."
