He’s kneeling in front of her, gentle fingers coaxing the clasp of her heel open on one foot. Then the other. He takes his time sliding the heels off her feet, supporting the back of her calf with his free hand. When he looks up at her, his lips are parted, as if he wants to say something. But neither of them are willing to shatter this haze with something as trivial as words.
