Flins sees the ghosts behind those pleading eyes, the shadows he tries to bathe in light, to pretend his lantern could drown them out rather than push them further into the corners of his mind. And he knows the stories, knows the haunted past that Illuga doesn’t like to talk about, the reason Flins’ answer matters.
He settles on a simple, yet vague truth.
“I am… not so easily killed,” he admits.
“If you’re lying to me,” Illuga says. “I will summon you from the grave and kill you myself.”

“I drank the wine.” Varka cannot lie to Flins. He doesn’t think it’d help him much. “Just a touch to the mouth. A drop, really.”
“A drop is enough to have mildly adverse affects, Varka.”
- Undercover, Flins and Varka attend the Järvinen family’s ball to gather intel on the black market trade of Kuuvahki imbued ore. Unfortunately, Varka forgets that the food of the Fae is never to be dined on, leading to debased consequences.

Summary
Alhaitham knows Kaveh cares, he knows he loves him, but he only knows. He has the concept, but not the materialization in the real world, something tangible. Or at least, not as enough empirical experience as Alhaitham would like. Kaveh has a peculiar way of showing affection, surprisingly for Alhaitham, who thought he was the one like that (in fact, he thought Kaveh would be troubled with what Alhaitham is now, following the endless accusations Alhaitham has heard all his life, labeled as cold and incapable to give affection, but here they are).
Maybe it was because he has been loving Kaveh for so long in silence that now he can’t content himself without screaming it. Without letting everyone know that Kaveh reciprocates his feelings, that the Light of Kshahrewar chose the Scribe of the Akademiya. That Kaveh loves him, and Alhaitham does too.
And so, Alhaitham decided to make a list of things he can do to make Kaveh subtly get the hint about what they can do in order to improve their romantic relationship.

Summary
"How did you even learn to draw?" Kaveh asks another day, observing another drawing closely (one where he seemed to be passionately talking about something again).
"Hm? I just flipped through a book on anatomy and got the hang of it."
. . . Why did Kaveh even bother? Alhaitham was probably the kind of monster who could draw a perfect side profile without lifting the pencil from the sheet even once.
Kaveh learns that Alhaitham liked to draw.
Or . . . he resorted to it, for reasons Kaveh would have to piece together over pages and pages of works created with the cost of a fraction of his dignity. Hopefully, he gets his answers, before the humiliation gets to him.
