Yes he had to resist it, because to feel like Hermione Granger was the sole person in the world who seemed to understand him - to want to understand him - to feel that and be even a little desiring of it, was unacceptable. Finally under the canopy of the trees at the edge of the forest, Snape turned his head towards the sky. The bare branches swayed gently, strangely gently given the ferocity of the wind.
