And Lance knows it’s his fault. He started it, after all, but at least the biting term of endearment made sense when he was the one doing it. Keith had been talking to him like they were some old married couple. The kind who’ve been married too long and don’t love each other anymore and gripe over meaningless shit, only managing to piss each other off even further.
That’s why Lance called him dear. Because it made sense in the situation. It was a calculated insult. A strategic jab.
Keith, on the other hand, is weaponizing the term of endearment without any rhyme or reason, simply to get back at Lance.
Or: Keith and Lance have gotten into the habit of using pet names as condescending insults. They're not really terms of endearment.

"can you see me now?"
this fic was such a moment! i think of it and i can almost feel the december '25 atmosphere: the chill in the air and the hope in my heart for canon byler. recommended this to anyone who'd hear me. the writing conveyed everything so effectively: the learned distance slowly cracking as unnatural, the yearning that had gone dormant reawakening as the ice hiding a once unbreakable bond began to thaw, the uncertainty of intention and reality remaining through it all. the make out scene hit like crack every single time. i could not get enough of this fic and i probably will come back to it a lot more. truly deserving of the hype, in my eyes forever. -

“Looks like I bit you.” Will tilts his head to get a better look. All Mike can do is stare at him. His fluffy hair at the front, clumped pieces at the back where he’d slid his fingers in a mere few minutes before. His pretty green eyes that look hazel or even brown in this light, the dark circles he gets when he drinks framing them like intricate paintings. A satisfied, bloody smile.
Mike isn’t satisfied. He swallows thickly, choking down the words 'don’t you want more?'

Summary
Keith and Lance unknowingly inhale an alien aphrodisiac during a simple resource retrieval mission. But unlike the common aphrodisiac, this particular one reactivates under certain unknown conditions, later leaving them craving in situations that don't necessarily present them with many options. Keith tries to work through it, concerned with the sudden lack of control of his body, until he realizes the same thing is happening to Lance. So...great. How are they supposed to deal with this, keep it a secret, AND tend to the thousands of other responsibilities that come with defending the universe? (Together, of course.)

lance was getting on my nerves in this one ughhh. big big fan of the love bug/sex pollen as a plot device, it's genuinely one of my favorite things lol sorry. keith recklessly hooking up with a rando out of hurt and spite is sooo familiar to me #beentheredonethat i get him so bad he literally is just like me. also love that they keep getting into ridiculous situations because, sex pollen or not, keith and lance are always still keith and lance. all in all super fun and sexy (and a little frustrating) read.

i remember being so hesitant to read this one due to the premise but i'm so glad i gave it a shot. the angst of lance letting keith believe their prophecy was the same and therefore being unable to oppose his decision to wait it out -even though he thought himself marked for death- was so yummy. the yearning too. the reveal that their separate prophesies actually were one half of a whole left me gob smacked; genius writing, truly. the ending isn't my favourite (knowing you loved someone but being unable to feel it/ becoming a stranger to someone you so love), but i have faith they were able to rebuild. also, shout out jilliancares for having amazing team dynamics outside of klance, goated author for a reason.
