It couldn't find another way to stop them. They were too deep in their grief to think clearly.

It was too early.

Summary
“Rumi! It is you! How are you alive?” Zoey cheered, and Rumi’s head flipped toward the sound, where Zoey and Mira stood at the other end of the alleyway. Both wore all black, and Mira even had a black sunhat with a veil. Zoey moved to run toward her, but Mira’s arm shot in front, keeping Zoey from getting closer.
“I knew it. I knew it was too good to be true,” Mira said, glaring at her with hate and disgust in her eyes. Exactly the way she looked at… well, demons, but dialed up to higher than ever before. “Zo—patterns. That’s not Rumi.”
--Or--
Pre-reveal Rumi takes a hit while fighting on top of a speeding train car—not from a club, but a sword straight through the chest. That should have been the end, but demons revive in the demon realm when killed. Not even Rumi expected that would apply to her as well.

"Of all the women in this stupid village, they had to pick me"
When Mira's name is chosen to be sent to the demon king as his bride, she knew it was a death sentence. Gwi-Ma was known to devour souls, and she knew he would devour hers.
But when she's taken to meet the demon king...
Mira looked up to see his face— "Oh!" For the second time tonight, Mira was startled to see a young woman's face. The demon king wasn't a king at all. She was a demon queen. Her eyes were a soft brown, though when she stepped into the light, they reflected with a golden hue. The tiger striped patterns were on her face and neck too. She wasn't human, that was for certain.
But she didn't seem dangerous either.
OR
Rumi gets sent two brides she didn't ask for and she can't seem to get either of them to go home.

Summary
“Jeez, Mira, we need to stop feasting on those crunchy rolls.”
The joke falls flat in the empty hallway, heard by no one, and Zoey blinks back tears because joking is what she does when she's terrified, and right now she's more terrified than she's ever been in her life. More than by any demon horde they've fought. More than by any stage fright. Because demons and stages, those are things that happen to them. This—dragging her soulmate’s half-dead body through a parking garage at night after they killed their third—this is something else entirely. This is the kind of thing that rewrites who you are forever.
Or
When Mira saw the patterns, she didn't think—she struck. What follows isn't a rescue. It's a reckoning—between two huntresses who can't forgive themselves, a mother who waited too long to claim her daughter, and a girl who has spent twenty-five years learning to be unseen in the spotlight.
Huntrix is broken. The Honmoon is fading. Gwi-Ma is coming. There is a tower in Seoul. A room far away. There’s a hand on a scar. And a dead woman’s song, thrown from the past, to finally drive back the darkness.Three women. One impossible love. And one last chance to hold the world together.

Summary
You probably guessed how I got here.
One odd field trip, a toxic spider and the discovery of great power has all lead up to this, Spider-Rumi.
Well, Spider-Woman.If anyone found out it was me, my entire high school career would be over, not to mention the fact that I'm kind of a wanted criminal? I do not need all that attention on me, I'm already the "orphan chick" or whatever in the halls. No one needs to know, believe me. Nobody can know.
I'm still learning the ropes of this superhero gig, but I'm trying my best...
