His knee jumped involuntarily and sent whatever was sitting next to it to the floor with a loud clatter, snapping Izuku’s attention to the present and his focus to his mother’s slender face as it looked at him with worry.
“Oh, honey, I’m sure it’ll be alright. Being quirkless isn’t such a big deal.” Her smile wavered again, her heart not exactly where her words were.
Izuku’s mind shut off.
