“Shut off the detonator!” Veronica orders.

J.D. stares at the digits blinking at him, watching the timer. He doesn’t shift his gaze when Veronica shuffles forward. He doesn’t look at her when the barrel of his own gun hits the centre of his chest.

"I did," he confirms. Guilt begins to curl up hot and uncomfortable in the center of Julian's gut. "But I didn't mean-"
"I fucking know what you meant," Ricky interrupts, but there's no heat to his tone. He pulls away, dislodging Julian's hand from around his nape in the process, and he sighs, running his hand down the center of his face.

Lawrence was soaked to the skin by the time he finally turned his key in the front door, stepping into the front hallway. The storm had swept in quickly- he had barely had time to get to his car and drive home before the rain had been heavy enough to hammer against the roof of his car, drowning out Adam’s CD that he had left in the shitty radio. He grimaced at the squelch in his shoes, kicking them off gently and leaving them in the hallway, peeling his coat off and doing the same.

It was pretty immediately clear to Adam when he woke up that the day was not going to be a good one.
Some mornings, it was just like that- whether he woke up spluttering and screaming from a dream where he opened his eyes underwater, the stench of the bathroom hitting him as soon as he took a full breath, or whether he woke up with his skin fitting wrong on his body, his mind latching on to all of the ways his body didn’t match, they were more common than he would like them to be. At least the latter was familiar, he supposed.

Summary
The earring that Hoffman had oh-so-kindly left in Strahm’s apartment, the one that Strahm had almost feverishly shoved through the unbroken, virgin skin of his ear lobe, had infected Strahm’s ear to the point that even the breeze brushing against it as he walked to the corner store and back was horrendously painful. He’d had worse injuries, his throat still killed, but the dull, poisonous throb of his ear was getting to him a little bit. A reminder that he was a horny, lust addled man who split his own skin apart for Mark Hoffman, of all people. It didn’t help that he couldn't stop fiddling with it either.

Strahm can't seem to find himself any place other than within the concentric circles that Hoffman winds around him. But at least his film collection is there to soften the embarrassment and blows.
