Summary
Shelby Goodkind is getting her PhD in queer studies, but her parents don’t know that yet. Then she meets Toni Shalifoe, a PhD candidate who’s in her GSS seminar. When they continue dominating class with their (frankly, pedantic) arguments, their instructor presents them with a punishment: they have to co-write the final seminar paper worth 80% of their grade. Feelings come to the surface, and Shelby has to face her family’s disapproval more directly than she ever has before.
OR: the AU where Shelby and Toni are grad students who hate each other but love each other, and Shelby learns how to deal with her family trauma for real.
