Forelsket

Summary:

When you fall in love, a red tally mark appears on your wrist. If they love you back, a red tally mark appears on their wrist as well. But if you both fall in love, and you’re soulmates, then the marks turn black. If a person you loved has died, that tally mark fades into a scar. Some people fall in love easily and they have a million red marks. Others have perfectly clean wrists.

Yoongi has a scarred mark and a red mark.

Jungkook has no marks at all.

Jungkook took a deep breath and knocked on the apartment door in front of him. He waited a few seconds before frowning and checking his phone again. “He said he’d be home.” He muttered under his breath.

He was about to call his brother, Seokjin, before the door opened and someone shorter than his older brother was standing there. Yoongi stiffened as soon as he saw Jungkook. “What’re you doing here?” He snapped.

Jungkook’s frown deepened at the harsh treatment. “Yoongi hyung, don’t be mean to me.” He pouted.

Yoongi’s eyes softened but he was still stiff. “Sorry, Guk, I just didn’t expect you. Come in and you can explain why you’re here.” He stepped aside, holding the door open.

Jungkook grinned and bounced past Yoongi happily. He was pretty close with him since he was his brother’s best friend and don’t tell Seokjin but Jungkook had been harboring a little crush on Yoongi for a while. It obviously wasn’t love though because Jungkook’s wrist was still unmarked. “I’m here to stay with Jinnie hyung for a few days!” He said as he explored the kitchen for a snack.

Yoongi shut the front door and then leaned against the doorway to the kitchen, watching the younger boy fondly. “Ah, okay. Well, I’m his roommate now. He won’t be back for a couple of days.”

This time, Jungkook stiffened. He gulped and turned around slowly. “He won’t be here? But he told me I could stay in his apartment for a few days while my plumbing is being fixed. Since when are you his roommate?” Jungkook couldn’t handle the thought of living alone with his long time crush for an entire weekend.

Yoongi raised an eyebrow, but he was also visibly uncomfortable at the idea. “I moved in almost two weeks ago. He should’ve told you that.”

Jungkook leaned back against the counter, gripping it tight. “If you don’t want me to stay here, I can find someone else to stay with. It’s no problem!” He almost wanted Yoongi to kick him out so he wouldn’t have the chance to embarrass himself.

Yoongi shook his head quickly. “No, no! Guk, it’s fine. Jin hyung said you could stay, so you can stay.” He gave a small smile to reassure the taller boy.

Jungkook bit his bottom lip and nodded. “Thanks, hyung.” He pulled the sleeves of his sweatshirt down over his hands and fiddled with his fingers.

Yoongi had to tear his eyes away from the cute sight. “Do you have any bags you need to bring up?” He asked, staring at the counter.

Jungkook nodded again. “Just a backpack but I’ll get it later when I go back down to my car.”

Yoongi shoved himself off the door frame, needing something to do. “I’ll get it, where are your car keys?” He held his hand out.

Jungkook stared at the hand. “Uh, no, hyung, really, it’s fine! I’ll get it later!” His eyes widened when Yoongi just stared at him, moving the hand out further. Jungkook sighed and handed over his car keys. “Fine. You’re the worst.” He mumbled.

Yoongi grinned and ruffled Jungkook’s hair with his free hand before disappearing around the corner.

Jungkook waited until he heard the door slam shut before he groaned loudly and fell into an anxious heap on the kitchen floor. “I can’t do this.” He whispered, clutching his head in his hands.

Jungkook was barely back on his feet by the time Yoongi walked back in with his backpack. He immediately ran to grab it because he felt bad enough that Yoongi had gotten it in the first place. Yoongi kept a tight hold on the giant backpack. “I’ll put it down in Jin hyung’s room since that’s where you’ll be sleeping.”

Jungkook chewed on his lips and nodded. “Sure, hyung. Thank you.” He mumbled, following him at a distance.

-

The first night went just fine, as did the next day. They stayed in their respective rooms most of the time, only saying greetings when they ran into each other in the kitchen.

The second night, Yoongi knocked on Jungkook’s door. “Guk, what do you want to eat? I’m ordering takeout.” He called.

Jungkook grinned at the thought of food and raced to the door, practically ripping it open. “Lamb skewers!” He said immediately.

Yoongi raised an eyebrow at the younger boy and nodded. “Sure thing. I’ll call you when it’s here.” He rubbed the back of his neck and walked right back into his room.

Jungkook left the bedroom door open and flopped face first onto Jin’s bed. He giggled softly to himself and then slapped his face when he realized. “Jeon Jungkook, you are not a school girl with a crush. Stop it.” He whispered into the pillow.

As soon as the food arrived, Jungkook shot out of the room and into the kitchen. “Hyungie! What do you want to drink?” He asked when Yoongi walked by with the bag of food.

“Soju.” Yoongi muttered, walking into the living room.

Jungkook nodded and grabbed two bottles before sitting down beside Yoongi on the couch. “Thanks for the food!” He smiled shyly.

Yoongi just nodded and slid one of the boxes over the coffee table in front of them. They ate quietly for a few minutes before Yoongi motioned to the remote with chopsticks. “Wanna watch something?”

Jungkook nodded and grabbed it, turning on the first movie he saw. It happened to be a romance movie that neither of them had seen so they left it on as background noise.

Jungkook got sucked into the plot soon enough and Yoongi did too, no matter how much he’d deny it. Jungkook was open about the few tears that slipped down his cheeks but Yoongi will hit anyone who mentions he was also sniffling into his sleeve.

Towards the end when the food was set aside and Jungkook let out a rather loud sob, Yoongi scooted down the couch and wrapped an arm around Jungkook. They both froze for a second at his actions but then Jungkook just collapsed onto his chest, holding onto his shirt.

Yoongi hummed softly and let him cry. “You’re okay, Guk. It’s just a movie.”

Jungkook nodded but he couldn’t breathe. He normally wasn’t this affected by movies but for some reason, seeing the couple on screen finally be happy together, he couldn’t hold back the tears.

The movie ended and the screen went black but they both stayed where they were, holding onto each other like they were about to die. “I’m sorry, hyung.” Jungkook whispered after a while.

Yoongi shook his head and ran a hand through the other boy’s hair. “No, you’re fine. Don’t apologize for having feelings.” Yoongi voice was almost too quiet.

Jungkook pushed himself up and the second he looked Yoongi in the eye, he felt something flutter in his chest. Yoongi’s eyes were teary and his cheeks were pink. His black hair was almost covering one eye. Jungkook gasped every so slightly and he felt something burning his wrist. His heart plummeted. He knew what it was. He was getting his very first mark. He was falling in love.

Jungkook scrambled off the couch and landed on his ass. “I-I have to go.” He choked out, fresh tears falling down his face. He couldn’t let Yoongi see the mark. He would know.

Yoongi tried to follow him but Jungkook slammed the front door as he ran. He couldn’t breathe. Everything was hurting. Jungkook ran for a couple of minutes before he fell down on the sidewalk, holding his chest tightly. “Fuck.” He whispered.

His rapid breathing stopped the second he actually saw his wrist though. It wasn’t red. It was black. He had fallen in love with his soulmate. And his soulmate loved him back.

Jungkook let out another strangled cry before darting to his feet and running all the way back to the apartment.

Yoongi was sitting in the hallway outside, his head in his hands. His shoulders were shaking.

“H-hyung.” Jungkook called, panting loudly.

Yoongi’s head shot up and he wiped at the tears on his cheeks. “Jeon Jungkook, you had me worried beyond belief!” He scolded, standing up.

Jungkook laughed but he was still crying so it sounded more like a sob. “You asshole.”

Yoongi froze. “What?”

Jungkook laughed again and took a step forward. “You asshole. That red mark on your wrist. It’s for me, isn’t it? You’re in love with me?”

Yoongi started shaking. “Wh-why would you say that?”

Jungkook stepped forward again and grabbed Yoongi’s wrist. “Look at it.”

Yoongi gulped but he did. He inhaled sharply and his eyes shot back to Jungkook who was holding up his own wrist. They had matching black marks. “Soul-” Yoongi started before his voice caught in his throat.

“Mates.” Jungkook finished for him, smiling wide.

Yoongi fell in love all over again, seeing that smile. “Soulmates.” He whispered, licking his lips nervously. “It took you long enough to fall in love with me, you idiot.” He joked.

Jungkook chuckled softly and placed both of his hands on Yoongi’s shoulders. Yoongi’s hands went to Jungkook’s waist. “I know. You’ve had that mark since last year, when we met.”

Yoongi smiled at the memory. “Yeah. It appeared within the first day I met you. Practically love at first sight. I couldn’t help it. You have that bunny smile and those adorable eyes.”

Jungkook blushed and looked down at their feet. “Shut up, hyung. You’re going all soft on me.”

Yoongi just shrugged. “I’ve always been soft for you. Seriously, the others are about ready to strangle me because I never shut up about you.”

Jungkook blushed even more red at the confession. “Yeah, same for me. All the hyungs hate me because I talk about you so much.”

Suddenly, Yoongi’s jaw dropped. “Oh my god. Jin hyung. He left us here alone on purpose, didn’t he? So we’d have to confess our feelings.”

Jungkook snorted and laughed loudly. “Oh my god, he did. That’s exactly what he did! He’s gonna die for this.”

Yoongi shook his head quickly and pulled Jungkook closer to him. “No, I think I’ll let it slide. After all, we know we’re soulmates now. Without him, we probably wouldn’t have figured it out for a long time.”

“Oh. Yeah.” Jungkook mumbled shyly. “What happens now?”

Yoongi leaned forward until their foreheads were touching. “Well. Jungkookie, will you be my boyfriend?”

They both broke into wide grins and giggles. “Yes, hyung. Of course I will.”

Yoongi backed them up so Jungkook’s back was against the door. “Can I-?”

“Yes!” Jungkook blurted before turning bright red again.

Yoongi placed a hand on Jungkook’s cheek before he closed the distance, pressing their lips together softly. “I love you.” He whispered softly, mouth still connected with Jungkook’s.

Jungkook’s grin stopped their kiss for a second but they kept their lips together anyway, neither of them wanting to separate. “I love you too.”

After a few seconds of soft kisses, Yoongi pulled back like he remembered something and groaned. “Guk, please tell me you brought a key with you when you left.”

Jungkook frowned at the loss of kisses and shook his head. “No, I just ran out. Why?”

Yoongi’s head fell forward onto his shoulder. “I might’ve ran after you without grabbing a key as well.” He mumbled.

Jungkook sighed and closed his eyes. “Oh no. That means we’re gonna have to-”

“Call Jin hyung.” They ended the sentence together, both dreading it.

“We’re never gonna hear the end of this story.” Yoongi muttered.

Jungkook giggled softly and lifted Yoongi’s face to see him better. “Well this story has a pretty nice ending so I’m okay with that.”

“Maybe we can call Jin hyung in a minute.” Yoongi whispered before kissing him again.
