Chapter 12: Chapter 11

Summary:

Peter gets emotional with everything going on.

Chapter Text

The sound of Peter practically tumbling in the living room seemed to wake Rhodey from his nap.

"Mom its ruined!" Peter cried holding up a cardigan about 3 times too small. "They'll be here in 10 minutes and I don't have anything to wear!"

"Okay baby. Lets take a deep breath." Tony spoke as he stood up. A side of The faded oversized Black MIT T- shirt stolen from Rhodey was tucked into the red flared Yoga pants Tony favored.

Bucky and Bruce followed. "Sam baby pause the movie please." Bucky spoke up.

As the older omegas led peter to his bedroom Peter tried to hold in his sobs of frustration. It seems like everything that could go wrong today is going wrong.

First his catering order got cancelled. Apparently the caterer double booked. Despite Rhodeys' confusion as to why a group study session for 6 people needed to be catered, he still helped peter find a same day caterer. Sushi was the only suitable option they could find, but it was a solution. Then when they were picking up the cupcakes from the bakery, The cashier dropped them. SO he had to go for grocery store cupcakes.

The party supply store didn't have the streamers he wanted. They got home just as Steve was leaving with the rest of his things and while Bucky can accept the fact that Steve decided to leave, Its a little harder for Peter.

Steve may be a dick but he was an uncle, and family. And he wasn't Always a dick. He'd take peter out for ice cream after he won awards, and sometimes they'd spend their Saturdays in the park sketching away. Steve was the uncle Who he could sit in silence with. He used to build forts in the living room whenever it thunder stormed.

They even have a football trick where peter would use his body to shield the ball and Steve would run past everyone carrying him like a loose sack of potatoes because NOBODY had the balls to even try to tackle him if he had peter.

Now his outfit is ruined, and he's just about at his breaking point. Tony and Bruce went into Peter's closet to try and find a top to match his outfit. Bucky led Peter to the bed.

"Okay." Bucky spoke up. "Lay it on me kid. You aren't the type to freak out over dropped cupcakes, party streamers, or your outfit. You are always the most level headed in chaos which is impressive for a 15 year old by the way. So how about we figure out the real issue before you freak out and scare your friends from ever coming over again."

Peter took a shaky breath and looked at Bucky. "I understand why you broke up." Peter sniffled. "But why'd he have to leave. I thought..."

Peter was interrupted by a sob he couldn't hold back. It broke Bucky's heart. Yeah Steve hurt him. Steve always finds a way to break him. The majority of the adults only mildly tolerated Steve because of Bucky and Sam. But Peter had his own relationship with him. Just like the kid has his own relationship with everyone in the pack.

Tony of course is mama bear, Rhodey is his dad. Bruce is the person to go to for advice, and in a crisis. Thor and Clint are the goofy fun uncles who pull pranks on every one, they are more likely to pull the kid out of school and take him to a theme park. Natasha is the aunt who will always help him out of any situation, no matter how bad it is. She's like the rich aunty who doesn't have any kids but will take it to hell when it comes to Peter.

Pietro and Wanda are his cool older cousins. The see his dark and sneaky side. And they will bail him out of things that he genuinely doesn't need the adults to find out. They manage to get him what he needs or wants when grounded and nobody really bats an eye because he needs that village, trust and relationship.

Sam.. is Peter favorite uncle. He's the father figure when Rhodey is not around. Sam is Peter's godfather. Bucky is the equivalent to Peter's godmother. Bucky and Sam are the ones who will spoil him rotten. Bucky is the one Peter can come to with a pregnancy scare, or to get advice about a boy he likes. Bucky will most likely be the trusted adult who Peter comes to when he has his first kiss. Bucky is the person who would make sure that Peter is safe in any and every situation and relationship, because he's a teenager and teenagers do dumb things.

Steve he's the dotting uncle. He managed to keep Peter grounded. He was the person that would build forts during thunderstorms, when Peter was scared. Peter had never really realized that Steve was fighting his own demons too. Peter had a way of making Steve feel human. And Steve had a way of teaching Peter how to stay grounded and tactful. He would help Peter strategize and analyze any situation. Steve had his moments where he would say or do something stupid. But the kid really loves him.

"I thought we were family." Peter cried. "How could he just walk away from his family."

"Kiddo..." Bucky whispered as he softly pulled Peter in. The young omega let out the sobs he'd been holding in as Bucky held him. "Sometimes.. people just can't accept that they can have a village who will love them unconditionally. Steve he.. he didn't have what you have, he didn't have a family that loved him, or cared enough about him, and for him... it's weird. He has a way of messing things up because he feels like he's undeserving. It doesn't matter what lengths you go through to try and prove otherwise... as long as he feels that he is undeserving, he will always fuck up the good he's got in his life cause he just can't accept it. It's not anything you did, or I did or anyone in this house did. He's got issues that he needs to work through. He probably just needs time to take a step back and handle it. He knows... even though we aren't together anymore, he will always have family and a home here."

Peter only cried in response. There was a knock on the door before Rhodey opened it. "Uh Peter your..." Rhodey started.

"He will be down soon. We are just having a little heart to heart. Why don't you find a way to keep them entertained until he's ready to come down." Bucky spoke up.

Rhodey nodded making sure to close the door behind him. Eventually Peter calmed down and Bucky helped clean his face before they joined Tony Bruce in the walk in.

As Bruce immediately showed Peter his options, Tony looked over at Bucky. "Thank you." Tony mouthed. Bucky only gave him a smile in return. It turned out the fuzzy cream colored oversized cardigan Bruce found went better with Peter's leg warmers.

The young omega had on a fitted lilac tank top body pantsuit suit. With cream colored Gucci sneakers. They were double laced with cream and lilac shoe strings. The fuzzy cream leg warmers stopped mid calve. Peter had a a lilac headband, with lilac colored star shaped earrings.

He's cute and comfortable. The three adults omegas helped him fix his mascara and signature bubble gum lipgloss before letting him go down stairs with his friends.

"Are you okay?" Tony asked Bucky.

"Yeah... just when I think I can't possibly hate Steve anymore... I somehow find another reason." Bucky sighed. "Peter should not have to deal with the fallout of this and I'm so sorry..."

"What are you apologizing for?" Tony asked. "You didn't hold a gun to his head and make him walk out the door. You didn't tell him to pack up his shit and leave for no reason Bucky. I have watched this man treat you like a revolving door since we we're Peter's age. He breaks you down, and then as soon as you pick up the pieces he comes and breaks you down again. There is only so much a person can take and you took more than you should've. Peter is going to be okay. I hate that he's hurting, I hate that he's sad. But he was going to have to learn at some point that things happen, people walk away sometimes for no good reason at all. He's still got a village, and you do too. You deserve more buck. You deserve the world because you are an amazing person. Like you said earlier... why keep holding on to the past when you've got someone ready and willing to give you everything you want and need now. You are choosing yourself for the first time in a really long time and I am proud of you. You do not need to apologize for standing up for yourself."

Bucky looked at Tony through his tears. "Goddamn tones, you tend to be emotionally closed off sometimes.. but god when you've gotta be there for someone you sure as hell know exactly what to say." Bucky sniffled.

"It's a gift." Tony teased. "Come on. Let's go continue our movie day."
