Shigaraki wondered if he looked like a pervert. Now mind you, this wasn’t a thought that he would normally have. But standing in hobby shop, browsing through different figurines with his hood up and sunglasses on might make others wonder. It didn’t help that he had his hands stuffed into the front pouch of his hoodie as he looked at the different top Pro-Hero figurines that the shop had to offer either. There were various figures of All Might, Endeavour, Best Jeanist and Hawks. Many of the more popular heroes as well, including Midnight in various stages of her ever-evolving outfits. Lower down on their shelves they even had some figures of Stain which kind of pissed him off. He ignored those in favor of the All Might ones. They ranged from cartoonish to damn near realistic.
“Can I help you find something?” A young woman decked out in All Might apparel approached him. Just the sight of her made Shigaraki’s skin crawl. The woman continued to smile as she waited for him to respond, but it was clear to anyone that looked at them that her smile was forced. Shigaraki shifted awkwardly, considering for a moment of sending her away but he knew he needed help.
“Yes, I’m looking for an All Might figurine for my boyfriend.” The woman’s expression changed, going from forced to shocked to finding that to be the sweetest thing she has heard all day. A darker part in Shigaraki just wanted to decay the case and take them all without having to continue to deal with this horrible place. Sadly, knowing Midoriya he would just make him take them back and maybe even pay for the damage that he caused. Not that he would. Pay that is. Take them back, of course, but it would have been their own fault for annoying him so much.
“Oh? Any specific one you were looking at or one that he wanted?” She inquired, turning her attention towards the case in front of them.
“Uh, no. This is kind of a surprise for him.” Shigaraki also looked at the display case and looked at all the different prices for the figures. They seemed to be reasonably priced which potentially meant that Midoriya had them. Ugh, this was going to be a lot harder than he thought. Maybe he should have paid more attention to the ones that Midoriya already had. “I’m not sure which ones he already has but I want to get one that he doesn’t.”
The woman, who’s name plate said ‘Yui’, frowned. “Well that makes this a little bit tougher. In this case here we have some of the more commonly found figurines out there for All Might.” Shigaraki hummed, before shaking his head.
“I have a feeling he has these. Do you have any more exclusive figurines?” Yui’s face lit up at the question and Shigaraki immediately regretted asking it.
“Follow me.” She motioned further into the store, making Shigaraki cringe internally. He didn’t want to be in this store any longer than necessary, but this fangirl worker didn’t seem to care about his discomfort. “Here is where we keep the more exclusive figures.” She walked around a glass counter that had more figures of different heroes. Soon she started pulling out more and more boxes of All Might figurines. Each one seeming to have been there for some time. “Do any of these figures look somewhat familiar to you?” Yui asked, smiling brightly at the villain.
Shigaraki scanned the boxes and only recognized one or two of them. There was one box in particular that stood out to him. It was an older figurine, but it looked rather exclusive and spendy. It was perfect. “I only recognize a few of them but that one.” He pointed towards the one he spotted. “I don’t think he has that one though.”
Yui looked surprised than smiled. Oh god. He was going to hear some lecture about the uniqueness of this figure and how it related to All Might wasn’t he? Sure enough, Yui started going on about how it was part of a small collection created just after All Might started his agency. Shigaraki was gratefully to have his sunglasses on at a time like this. He rolled his eyes as he started to zone her out, thinking about what else to get Midoriya. New shoes? No, his were perfectly fine. Perhaps a nice shirt? No, no. He didn’t really care about clothes. Snacks! That would be perfect with this figure, whenever this damn fangirl would stop talking about All Might.
“What do you think? Still interested in it?” Yui asked with a bright smile. Shigaraki looked down at the figure than back at her.
“I’ll take it.” Yui’s eyes widened once more. Why? Who knows, she probably explained it during her ramblings about All Might. Their new god. He laughed to himself a little as she put back the other boxes. She gave him a confused look which he just waved off. Nosy woman.
“Was there anything else I could get for you?” Ah, such a classic retail line. Shigaraki shook his head and Yui began to lead him over to the register she had been manning before he had shown up. She probably had left it not to help him but to find out if he was indeed a pervert or not. He wasn’t!
When Yui rung up the figurine he realized why she must have been so surprised. The price higher than what he assumed that a casual fan of All Might would be willing to pay for it. Mentally he gagged at the thought of wasting money on some piece of plastic for the hero, but this was for Midoriya and nothing was too spendy for him. Yui was chattering away at him as she bagged the figure, stating how luck his boyfriend was. If only she knew it was an apology gift. Oh well. Next time Midoriya wanted something like this he was just going to give him money and let him get what he wants.
“Thanks.” He grunted, snagging the bag from the still smiling woman. Guess she was convinced he wasn’t a pervert than. Just really weird and quiet. Whatever. Shigaraki pretty much rushed out of the store, taking a deep breath of fresh air once he was out. Yup. He was pretty sure he was going to have nightmares about All Might figures for next year to come.
