Chapter Text
Winter had hit Japan. Cold but not too bitter yet. A woman wearing a puffy jacket and furred hood walked through the park. It was late, the lights had come on and were lighting her way for safety as she was trying to get back home. Her feet hurt from the shoes she wore and the skirt wasn't helping shield her from the cold. Stupid dress code! She shivered and picked up her pace, heels tapping loudly on stone. Then she heard it. Another set of footsteps. She was speed walking, her hands coiled around house keys in her pocket. The steps got closer and she spun around to see...
Nothing.
A single bird looked at her from the sidewalk then flew away. She sighed and turned back to continue on home. One-step and she felt her body pulled off the path, hand over her mouth, and pinned to a tree. Her head smacked the trunk hard.
"I knew I smelled blood!" It was a male werewolf, she could tell from the furred ears on the man's head and tail bristling out behind him. He held a knife to her throat.
"You smell so good I could just eat you!" He licked her throat and she shuddered in fear. He aimed the knife at her throat and she shut her eyes fearing the worst. That was when she heard another sound, someone cursing and punching the attacker in the face. His body sailed across the ground and he landed in a heap at the edge of the pathway.
"Get the fuck outta here! You want fresh meat, go to the market!" He shouted, spat on the ground, and watched as the man got up and scrambled away like a frightened animal, "Yeah you better run!" He then looked at the woman, "And YOU!"
He was also a werewolf. Sandy blond hair, ears, and matching tail in the back. An army green coat with a furred hood over him. His blood-red eyes stared her down. She shrunk under his yelling and recoiled, preparing for another attack. Only this time he helped her get steady on her feet and walked her back to the pathway.
"Are you ok? Did he bite you?" He asked his voice cold despite trying to be nice.
"No...no. I'm ok but-"
"You're such a dumbass! Didn't anyone teach you not to wonder about when you're on your...your..." His voice got quiet and he sniffed the air again, "Don't go out at night when your on your period." He growled at the word and turned his head away.
The woman looked at him, confused, "But I'm not...uh..." Dread spread across her face and she patted her backside carefully only to be met with warm wetness. It wasn't large but definitely there.
The werewolf growled, "Could you be any more stupid! Don't you women usually track that stuff!?" He angrily removed his coat and had her hold it for a moment. Under that was a black sweatshirt that he stripped off leaving nothing but a white tank top. He gestured to give the coat back and handed her the black shirt.
"Tie that around your waist, it'll mask the smell from other wolves." He instructed angrily. The woman stammered but did as told wrapping it around her skirt under her coat.
"I uh..." She couldn't find words to express her appreciation.
"Don't worry about giving it back, just don't make the same mistake again." He turned his head away as if embarrassed, "Now get home before another wolf smells you."
She turned and was about to leave but then asked, "What's your name?"
"Why do you care?" He asked shoving his hands in his pockets.
"I wanna know who saved me."
He tsked and sighed, "The names Bakugo Katsuki, what about you?"
The woman said her name and with that, he turned, the anger in his face slowly vanishing into just deep thought, and walked off. She did as well, walking quickly to get home. It really was late, I'm going to be in trouble...
Now at her apartment, she took off the sweatshirt and stuffed it in her purse then opened the door. The house was quiet, dark. She breathed a sigh of relief and went straight to the bathroom to shower and change. On her way, she spotted her boyfriend sleeping in bed. Another sigh of relief. Once clean and dry she was surprised to see her boyfriend sitting up in bed. Anger all over his face.
"Why were you late!?" He demanded. The woman tensed.
"I was attacked by a werewolf, I'm sorry." She said quickly. His face softened.
"Are you hurt? Should I call the police?"
"N-no. I'm ok, he ran off."
His eyes narrowed again, "He just...ran off? Werewolves are dangerous creatures, bloodthirsty, they don't just 'run off'." He got up out of bed and approached her, "What were you really doing?"
"I told you!" Her voice raised and she took a step back, "I was attacked. I didn't know I started my period, that's why he attacked me. Another wolf attacked him and I took that moment to leave!"
Her boyfriend's eyes went over to the pile of clothes by the bathroom. He walked over and looked them over. Seeing the blood, convinced, he set them down.
"I'm sorry. Dinner is on the table if you're hungry." He said simply as he hugged her. The woman accepted the hug and left to eat. Her heart though racing and she tried to steady her nerves. It was like that often. The accusations, the names, he hated werewolves even though she was half one herself. Bloody thirsty, evil, mean, heartless, she heard it all and every time it hit her hard. He loved her, needed her, but hated her. Once done with dinner she curled up on the bed next to him.
The next day she awoke, her boyfriend had left for work a simple love note left for her on the table explaining how sorry he was for earlier. She threw it away and prepared for her job. Then she remembered the shirt in her purse. She froze, "Dammit...what am I gonna do with this?" She looked around. Nowhere to hide, couldn't throw it away or he could see it. She grumbled and looked about the apartment. She then counted the cash in her wallet. It was decided, dry clean it and hope to run into Bakugo again.
She dropped it off and as she went to enter her workplace she saw the bobbing of sandy blond hair walking into a fast-food place. She still had 30 minutes before her job started so she followed. Sure enough, Bakugo was sitting at one of the tables alone. She ordered her food and casually walked by.
"Are you stalking me or something?" He asked as she walked by. She smiled.
"No, mind if I sit here?" She asked. Bakugo was dumbfounded by the question and agreed.
"I feel like I didn't thank you properly, so thanks!"
He scowled childishly, "Yeah no problem, just don't do it again."
She tried to open a conversation, "So, I'm on my way to work and I saw you walk in here, do you eat here often?"
He took a bite and chewed, "Yeah, it's the only place that serves steak biscuits."
Bakugo was right, the other place that did was a 20-minute drive out of town. There were werewolf friendly eateries but they were usually expensive.
"I have to be at work soon, um how about you?"
"Yeah, I work at the gym as a personal trainer. Who knew a werewolves' strength would be so inspiring to you humans?" He boasted.
The woman paused and looked down, "Um..." She pulled the hair that covered her ears behind her to reveal pointed ears, "I'm a hybrid."
Bakugo went into a slight panic and apologized, "I-I'm sorry I had no idea. I uh..." He flailed with words, "You're the first hybrid I've seen so..."
"I know. Not many wolves and humans get together." She said simply. She yawned and downed her coffee. The glint of fangs could be seen and the sun hit her hair making it almost sparkle and Bakugo felt his heart skip for a moment. He stopped it by gobbling down the rest of his sandwich.
"Sorry, did I say something wrong?" She asked seeing him act strangely. Bakugo almost choked, he hit his chest a few times and shook his head.
"No, I just need to get to work is all. It was nice talking to ya." He grabbed his jacket and left.
