Chapter 1: Back to Work

Chapter Text

I have to run.

It was an itch she had to scratch at least 3 times a week. A woman in her late 20s sat within the walls of a large and elegant home in Japan. Olden style with wood and paper walls within an elegant tapestry displayed throughout. The outside just as beautiful with shrubbery and flowers placed just right all surrounded by thick concrete walls to hide it all.

Her clothes were modern, all but a few decorative clothing she came to know in this place had been sold along with anything else of value as the yakuza gang she was married into was slowly dying. Kai Chisakai had come into power soon after marrying her 4 years ago and with little respect from the others, the mafia had begun to fall apart...much like their own marriage, even if it was forced. She was apart of the Japanese government, a secret to the world really, not many knew her face or her name, and once married, she all but disappeared from the world. Her only purpose to keep the peace between the government and the mafia.

At first, she was not allowed outside the walls, the fear of being found out, leaving, or even attacked by some werewolf scared the rest of the mafia, especially Chisakai since it would damage his reputation further. However, this led to her becoming mentally ill as she never saw the sun. Only after failing to take her own life did one of the members, Dabi, chiming in that may be keeping her locked up was a bad idea.

"You should let her out, you don't even make the dogs stay in all the time so why her?" He said.

Kai allowed it finally after over a year into their marriage.

Over time she was allowed to take walks and now jog and exercise by the park close to their property so as long as she kept a phone on her which tracked her location. She was fine with this little bit of freedom even if it meant she had to keep to herself. The mafia caretakers being her only source of company when they were in the same room cleaning and taking care of things.

As for their relationship. It was quiet and nonexistent until Kai needed release. They tried to spend time together at first. Kai even having enough courage to ignore his phobia and kiss her. The woman blushed, but Kai didn't like it or her reaction. They kissed one other time on their wedding day, even consumated their marriage, but that was as far as it went. Most days they were separated. Kai working on his serum to cure his werewolves and instincts while the woman was out enjoying one hobby or another. Kai's only goal to do this, hoping that it would bring about peace between werewolves and humans and furhter his reputation and save the Yakuza mafia.

Days were mostly peaceful until her time of the month. Kai, being a werewolf, would have a horrible bloodlust that clashed with his phobia. He would lock her away in a cell deep underground for 10 days, until it was over completely. Once done she was used for his own needs, her period, and his blood lust unchecked throwing him into a rut. This was when he was the most violent and scary, she was a human after all.

It was the day after said rut she rose out of bed, alone. He had left already to his laboratory. The night before had left her body bruised, sore, and wanting comfort he didn't provide, falling asleep the moment he was spent. The woman whined and stretched trying to get her body back to normal, a shower, that's what she needed. The bedroom was a mess with things thrown off the shelves, the sheets unraveled and tangled everywhere. That would be a servant's job normally, but housework kept her busy and her mind from feeling down. After 4 years of this it was nothing new, a monthly ordeal, she could...no she had to handle it.

She slid out of bed, taking note of all the bite marks and bruises. She hated him marking her up so bad, I can't run now, not that that's a bad thing, I'm still so sore... She rubbed her eyes and slowly made her way to the bathroom. As she undressed there was a knock and then someone entered making their presence known.

"Good morning miss!" A short woman with red hair in pigtails entered the shower room. She was wearing a butler's uniform with poofed-out pants and a heart charm on the bow around her neck. Red ears and matching bushy tail swished behind her back. She was cheerful as she greeted the woman and placed towels on the sink behind her. She looked over the woman's body and held in a gasp.

"I see master is finally over his...well do you need first aid?" She asked

"Yes, please bring the first aid kit so I can bandage up once I'm done." The woman said as she started the shower.

"Sure thing! I mean, yes, no problem." La Brava said with a change in her voice. She left the shower room to get the first aid kit. Finally, alone the woman could tend to herself. The hot water and soap causing her bites and scratches to sting as she scrubbed herself. Once clean and her hair washed she set up the spray on the swivel and just sat on the stool as the water washed over her body stuck in thought from the night before. Despite the rough treatment, her breath came out quicker and core heated from being denied the release of her own over and over again.

I can't...La Brava will be back any minute. Her hands ghosted over folds taking the edge off enough to turn off the shower and grab a towel to dry off. With a towel around her under her arms, La Brava knocked and entered again and placed the first aid kit down on the counter.

"Do you need help? It looks like it hurts."

"Please, if you could get the ones on my back?" The woman asked.

La Brava agreed and when the woman turned around the assistant turned red at the amount of damage to her back. She shook her head and rerouted her thoughts. The woman winced a bit as antibiotic cream and bandages were applied to the many bites and scratches on her back. Once done she helped the woman bandage her thighs and neck.

"Thank you." The woman said with a warm smile.

"It was no problem. I'm glad to help. I know master can be a bit..." La Brava stopped and bit her thumbnail. She looked away as if embarrassed. The woman wasn't confused by her actions at all. She knew she liked her so-called master. A crush that had formed a few weeks after hiring her. Her once mentor Gentle Criminal in jail her obsession turned to another new man, even if it was Kai Chisakai himself. She took great care of his wife knowing it always meant praise from her crush. La Brava's tail wagged slowly in anticipation.

Once the woman was clean and dressed Kai entered the bedroom. He looked at his wife now looking much better than the night before and then at La Brava. He walked up to her and patted her head. Her eyes lit up and her tail wagged happily.

"Good work, she looks stunning thanks to you."

The woman took little comfort hearing the compliment. She kept her head down during the interaction unless told otherwise.

"My Angel, how are you feeling?" Kai asked finally. The woman looked up, he still kept his distance from her. His ears flicked as if irritated waiting for a response.

I'm sore, I can't run today, you were too rough and you never let me off.

"Fine, I'm fine. Are you-"

"Don't worry yourself with me." Kai snapped back before she could finish asking. La Brava took her to leave seeing Kai upset and the woman shut her mouth. Kai approached her and as he lifted a hand she flinched then calmed as he moved the collar of her shirt to reveal her marks. He removed his mask, "Those marks are too noticeable." He sighed, "You'll have to look for a job once they heal."

Look for a job? She thought. Her brows furrowed and she bit back a question hoping he would explain. Kai took notice of her confused expression and went on.

"Our family is struggling. We've sold off all of our luxury possessions and laid off most of the staff. La Brava and Rikiya and the 2 cooks are all that's left purely out of loyalty. I talked with father and he wants you to get a job to help pay for necessities."

On the inside, she was jumping for joy at the idea of really getting out of the house, but on the outside she kept her compure and nodded in understanding.

"Father is giving you use to the computer to look for a job, see to it that you keep your identity a secret and don't even THINK about running off or we'll have to keep our little tradition," Kai said as his eyes narrowed at her. She knew what that meant, a tattoo. The mark of the crow on her back like the rest of the Yakuza.

"Yes, dear." She said quietly, "Is there anything else I should know about this?" She had to make sure there weren't further rules to follow.

"No, as I said, your name is Angel Kaichi. I'll have the documents ready by the time you find work." Kai responds as he turned to leave. She reached out for a moment, hoping for some sort of physical comfort once again only to be ignored as he left the room entirely. La Brava followed him with a skip in her step and the door slid shut behind them. The woman sighed and sat on the bed to look outside. Spring was coming as the snow was melting and small flowers were starting to imerge along with budding cherry blossoms.

I can't wait to run and watch everything bloom.

Within two weeks she had sent in many online applications under her presumed name, her bruises and bites marks had begun to heal and weren't noticable under the right attire. She had interviews to get to finally and...

She was denied every time. Her small work experience made it near impossible for people to accept her.

Saturday afternoon with a heavy heart but trying to put a spring back in her steps she put on her jogging outfit, laced up her shoes, and went out for a jog. The spring air was refreshing and the snow had completely melted, everything coming to life made her feel more alive after being cooped up most of the winter. She rounded the corner bouncing on her toes with earphones into her music. She took the normal route. From the house to the park, to the exercise place within the park, and back after a 30-minute workout. She never really ran into anyone on her way or back all but the random walker at the park so she wasn't nervous of encounters.

As she got closer to the excerise spot at the park she noticed someone with bright red hair already there and working on the weight machine. Bright long red hair tied in a messy ponytail, a black t shirt was tight on his muscly form and white and blue jogging pants. No tail or ears, a human. The woman kept to herself and when she got to the area as well she chose the push-up bar and began pulling herself up.

The man on the machine stopped and looked at the woman and when he got up and tapped on her shoulder she lost her control on the move and dropped to the ground. She pulled out her headphones to yell at him.

"Whoa whoa, sorry." He said with a laugh, "I didn't mean to mess you up. It's just, you were doing it wrong and I thought you could use help."

She glared at him for a moment then got to her feet, "What do you mean?"

The man moved her aside and jumped up grabbed the bar underhand and lifting up, "Underhanded. Gives you a better. Grip." He said between pull-ups.

She watched him and found she wasn't just watching, but REALLY watching as his muscles contracted and retracted with his moves. She shook her head and followed along. She jumped up and grabbed underhand and sure enough, it was easier.

Once done they both dropped down and the man swung his arms for a moment then extended a hand, "Hi, I'm Kirishima, it's nice to meet you."

She took his hand and shook it with a smile, "Angel."

"Cute name-" Kiri noted the wedding ring and backed down, "Oops, I didn't know you were..."

"It's fine. So Kirishima right? Do you come here often?" She asked.

"I think I'm supposed to ask you that." Kirishima chuckled. He turned to the sit-up bar and looped his feet under and began lifting himself up, the woman took the weight machine and continued to talk.

"I do. I took a break because of the snow. I'm glad to be working out again though."

"I just learned about this place. My boss doesn't want me using the gym to work out anymore so I come here instead."

The woman perked up at the word 'boss'.

"Where do you work at?" She asked.

"Katsuki's Training. Bakugo manages the place but I own it. It's really cool." Kirishima did one last sit up and stopped and unhooked his feet. He walked up to her and handed her a card. She took it and sure enough it was labelled Katsuki's Training.

"Weird how he doesn't let you use your gym to work out." She said.

Kirishima scratched the back of his head, "Well it's kinda my fault...I can be a bit too strong sometimes and I keep messing up the equipment. I get lazy because I know it's mine ya know?"

The woman tried to hold back a laugh but failed. Once calmed she said, "So...uh...I know this is a little awkward but are you hiring?"

Kirishima lowered his head to meet her gaze and looked her up and down suspiciously, "Are you a mind reader?"

"N-no, I'm really needing a job is all." She said.

"Well then, yeah we are. There's been way too many werewolf attacks lately so a lot more women are showing up to our defence class. Uraraka is the only one handling it right now but we need a second woman to help teach...but...do you know how to defend yourself?"

The woman stood up, "Of course I do-"

At that moment Kirishima leaped to attack her. The woman was thrown off the machine and onto the ground with a thud with him on top of her. She kneed him hard between the legs and rolled out of the hold. Kirishima recovered and this time went for a punch, she dodged, spun, grabbed him used her feet to twirl him around and onto the floor with her pinning him. She grinned and got up only to sit on his stomach hard. The wind knocked out of him.

"You. You got moves." He choked out. The woman stood up and held out a hand to help him up. Once up she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear trying not to blush from the compliment.

"Thanks."

"Why don't you come to the gym Monday when we're open? I'll have you meet Bakugo and Uraraka and we can see about hiring you." Kirishima said as he dusted himself off. The woman's face lit up.

"Really!? Thank you so much!"

I wish I could hug you. Wait, no I don't. You're married to keep the peace. Stop it.

She waved good bye, turned back on her music, and began to job back home.
