Work Text:
Objectively speaking (because Jeongguk is nothing if not objective in his work) Hoseok is handsome.
It's in the shape of his mouth and the straightness of his teeth. The curve of his jaw and the apples of his cheeks. It's in his lithe frame, tiny hips and solid chest. It's in everything about him. His hands, his neck, the warmness of his voice. Jeongguk well and truly adores Hoseok.
In the morning sunlight of a warm spring day, like this, all gold and shining, Hoseok looks every bit immortal. Nothing could, nothing would dare upset him or cause him harm. Not when he looks like this.
Jeongguk drops his camera and makes a noise in the back of his throat. Hoseok turns around smiling fond and bright. He opens his arms up for Jeongguk and shakes his head, "You're a big puppy, you. So whiny, c'mere."
Two steps and he's there, the place he always wants to be, Hoseok's arms around his neck and his own on Hoseok's waist. Jeongguk huffs, turning into Hoseok for a peck on the lips. Hoseok indulges him (like he always does) with two sweet kisses to his pouty bottom lip and two on his cheeks.
"Thought you said I looked like a bunny."
Hoseok laughs and it shakes Jeongguk's shoulders.
There's another small kiss to Jeongguk's ear and Hoseok pulls away, "Mmm you look like a bunny, look at those cute teeth, but you act like a puppy. Always following me around, so whiny too."
Jeongguk makes another soft noise in the back of his throat and Hoseok shushes him, "None of that. Show me the pictures you took, if they're good hyung'll buy you some lunch, yeah?"
He perks up at that, "Hyung, can I invite Tae? I haven't seen him in so long. So weird not seeing him every day y'know?"
Hoseok chuckles, "Yah! Do I look easy to you? I haven't even seen the pictures."
Jeongguk fusses over his camera, "You already know they're good though. According to you I can't take a bad picture." He mumbles.
Hoseok raises his eyebrows swatting at Jeongguk's chest, "You're getting too comfortable around me, brat!" There's never been a bite to Hoseok's words, just a fond tone that sits warmly in Jeongguk's chest. It's always made him a little more lovesick, a little more desperate for Hoseok's touch. He quickly presses his lips to Hoseok's and intertwines their hands.
"They're good because you're handsome, hyung."
"Flattery will get you nowhere."
Jeongguk scoffs, "We both know that's a lie."
"Yah!"
Jeongguk laughs and Hoseok shakes his head while ruffling Jeongguk's hair. Jeongguk's the happiest he's ever been. He's in a great school, has supportive friends, a loving boyfriend and a family that only wishes the best for him. Jeongguk's content with everything. Looking to his right, Hoseok is there. Golden and invincible. Jeongguk loves him.
__________
Jeongguk couldn't help it, he couldn't. Hoseok was kissing his cheeks and the tips of his fingers whispering everything Jeongguk's ever wanted to hear, everything, everything. He was so overwhelmed, his love and adoration for Hoseok bubbling up out of his chest and spewing out of his mouth, everything was too perfect, everything Jeongguk had ever wanted.
So pretty, baby. You're perfect, Guk-ah. My prettiest boy, huh? Let hyung see you. You're beautiful, Jeongguk.
Jeongguk was so overwhelmed he started to cry, babbling out, "I love you, hyung." Hiccuping, "Hyung, I love you. Hyung. Hyung!"
Hoseok stilled his hips, brushed away Jeongguk's sweat matted bangs and looked into his eyes with so much warmth Jeongguk never wanted him to look away. He leaned down to kiss Jeongguk. Pink lips against Hoseok's Jeongguk grabbed onto anything that could ground himself. The hair on the nape of Hoseok's neck, Hoseok's arm, Hoseok's lips.
"Hyung loves you, Guk-ah. It's alright, baby. It's alright. Don't cry. Hyung'll make you feel good. Wait, baby. Do you wanna stop?"
Except Jeongguk broke out into bigger and bigger sobs because he'd never felt more loved or more cared for. He didn't want to be one of those greasy guys that only said they loved their significant other during sex, but it felt so right, so good. But it was the first time Jeongguk's ever said that to someone that wasn't his parents or his friends, someone he really cared about in such an intimate way. Hearing his boyfriend say it back, for the first time, filled Jeongguk with so much emotion the tears were just a reflex. He couldn't help it.
Hoseok sat up, pulled Jeongguk to his chest and rocked him softly, "Why's my baby, crying huh?"
Jeongguk was crying and smiling, "B-because it's dumb."
"What's dumb."
Jeongguk whined, pushing his face into Hoseok's neck kissing him there and scratching his fingernails softly over Hoseok's tummy, "It's the first time we're doing this,” and a little more embarrassed and soft, “the first time I’m ever doing this and I have to cry like a baby and tell you I love you. I'm so dumb, this is so dumb."
"You're not dumb, baby. Don’t say that about yourself okay? It’s alright, baby, I promise. I said I loved you too right?”
"Do you really?"
Hoseok kisses Jeongguk softly, shy touches of tongue and gasps, "I love you, Jeon Jeongguk." Jeongguk's eyes are sparkling with tears as he kisses Hoseok again with even more fervor. Hoseok kisses him playfully, hands on Jeongguk's waist.
They share breaths and gasps, bodies moving together, till the world falls into place and Jeongguk falls asleep on Hoseok's chest.
__________
The fifth floor studio is Jeongguk's favorite for a lot of reasons.
First of all it looks like a loft. Jeongguk spent a summer doing an internship with his uncle’s photography shop in New York when he was 16 and he'd fallen in love with his uncle's loft from the moment he stepped in it. The studio has the same exposed brick, big modern black beams and floor to ceiling windows as his uncle's loft, allowing for all the sun to stream in through the panes of glass.
Second of all it's placement on campus allows for the afternoon sun to illuminate everything in it, bathing everything in gold and light.
Third of all only a handful of students are allowed access up here which is a miracle in and of itself. Of course Jeongguk’s never had any trouble charming his teachers and his art teacher was no exception. Jeongguk was the only one with a key. He and Hoseok had the whole loft to themselves for the afternoon.
Hoseok’s curled up by the glass wall, macbook, textbook and several small notepads balanced on his lap. His red hair looks stunning, illuminated by the afternoon sun.
Jeongguk finds himself dazed once again.
He’s caught in a trance, staring at the elegant slope of his boyfriend’s nose, his pretty heart shaped mouth. Hoseok’s delicate fingers holding the pen. Jeongguk could look at him forever.
Hoseok looks up and Jeongguk’s been caught. It’s funny because it feels just like that first day. Jeongguk is shy, quiet, blushing red and looking away quickly.
“Are you staring at me?”
Jeongguk sputters for some reason. His brain malfunctions and all he can do is bring his textbook up to hide the dusting of red forming on his cheeks and ears. He’s smiling though because he’s been caught, blushing like this, like they haven’t been dating for months
“You’re so fucking pretty.” Jeongguk groans.
Hoseok laughs and throws a piece of paper at him, “Shush you’ll inflate my ego.”
“It’s not inflating your ego if you really are handsome.”
Hoseok shakes his head and turns his attention back to his notes. For some reason Jeongguk can barely stand it.
“Hyung?”
Hoseok finishes jotting down something before humming and looking up, “Yes, baby?”
Jeongguk doesn’t wanna be whiny, but he’s always so used to getting his way, "I love you. Gimme a kiss.”
Hoseok pulls him in by his jacket, he smiles when their faces are inches apart, “You’re so whiny, like a baby. My big baby.” It doesn’t really matter though when Hoseok is kissing him and laughing into his mouth.
__________
Jeongguk is so far gone.
It’s not an exaggeration when he says that Hoseok is the love of his life. Jeongguk may be young but that doesn’t stop him from knowing. And he knows. Maybe he’s always known. Maybe he knew that spring day when they met. But he knows it in the deepest parts of himself that Hoseok is the love of his life.
Jeongguk just knows that he wants to do everything with his hyung. There’s not a thing in the world that he doesn’t want to do as long as Hoseok is at his side. There isn’t a thing in the world that Jeongguk wouldn’t do for Hoseok. There’s isn’t a thing in the world that could stop Jeongguk from loving him.
All Jeongguk knows is that he was born to love Hoseok.
