Chapter Text
George closes the door and sighs, kicking his shoes off and stripping off his hoodie as he makes his way through the living room, tossing it onto a box.
It had been a long day, and he was really exhausted. He had stayed a bit later after recording today to tweak some things, knowing it was going to be more productive than trying to work on unpacking.
He'd moved into his new place over two weeks ago, and has yet to make much of a dent in unpacking boxes.
It's this kind of odd, but charming cottage-style house that he fell in love with the moment he saw it. The exterior is stone and dark wood, and the inside has some unique and interesting characteristics. It was definitely designed and built by someone who was a little quirky, maybe having a poor attention span even.
George loves it, finding it creative and unlike any other places he looked at.
Plus it wasn't too pricey, so it was an obvious choice in multiple ways.
He's still not eager to unpack, knowing that once he starts, he will have a terrible time taking a break until the whole house is perfectly decorated and furnished the way he wants it.
Knowing he has a few days to himself soon is promising.
For now, he eats leftover takeaway from the other night as he watches the end of a random noir film, feet propped on a box, before showering and heading to bed.
His sleep is a bit rough, waking regularly, though he can never tell what wakes him.
Matty hates this.
He knows he has no right to object to someone else moving into his house, but he is powerless to stop his emotions.
After the accident, watching all of his belongings be moved out of the house, all his furniture and art that he carefully chose… gone.
He doesn't even know where it wound up. Maybe his mum or Louis took some of it? Who knows.
Oh, god. Seeing his parents and his younger brother come by to sort through things with Adam… seeing his mum start crying the moment she came through his front door, Louis trying to comfort her. His dad looked like he was doing everything he could not to break down as well.
He wished he could have reached out and touched them, reassured them.
He tried to.
When his parents were preoccupied with sorting things, he saw Louis sneak up into Matty's room, and followed quickly.
Matty watched as Louis found everything in his room that he knew Matty wouldn't want his parents finding- not that they would be upset, but it's better if Louis does it.
When Louis opened the bedside drawer and Matty smiled.
'Good lad.'
Adam wandered into the bedroom just as Louis was checking under the bed.
A smirk had passed Adam's lips and he stepped into the room, toeing Louis' leg gently.
Louis looked up in a panic before smiling at Adam.
Adam rolled his eyes and started helping Louis go through Matty's stuff before they sat on Matty's bed and had a really touching talk that made Matty feel proud he was friends with Adam.
When John arrived later to help, and Matty watched the sweet conversation John had with his mum, he felt a similar longing to go back and tell his friends that he loves them to bits.
Now, though, someone else's things were being placed in his room by strangers.
Matty's not even sure who is moving into his home, as he had basically hidden the entire time potential buyers had been coming to look at his home, not able to deal with the situation yet.
It had been quiet for almost a month after, so he knew it was sold, and someone would eventually be making this their home.
Now that he's had time to come to terms with the situation, he finds he wants to know who this person is.
What if they're awful? Can he find a way to drive them out?
He's not sure if he even would at this point. He's so lonely.
It's quite dull being a ghost.
