Work Text:

Tomorrow is the day George flies over to visit Dream, for the first time ever.

He was surprisingly calm about it, actually no, scratch that, he was extremely nervous. He was going to see his best friend face to face instead of talking online!

George could feel his heart speed up in his chest at the thought of seeing Dream in person. He has been waiting for this moment for so long and now it's happening. George couldn't help but softly smile to himself.

He was actually going to see Dream.. He was going to see him tomorrow. He is going to spend two weeks with Dream, oh yeah and Sapnap too-

George shook his head to get rid of his train of thoughts, knowing that if he got too lost in his head he would lose all his time that was meant for packing.

As he walked around his room aimlessly, he glanced down at his wrist, he couldn't stop looking at it, the weird initial permanently inked on his wrist. It made him confused, it made him wonder about the whole soulmate thing.

He couldn't believe it was real, but it was.

He thought it was all a joke until he saw it for himself, at the age of eighteen, the permanent mark just popped out of nowhere the morning he woke up.

Surprisingly, things were going normally, everything was just the same.

Everyone went with their day as if it was just an ordinary day.

George groaned to himself, rubbing the spot where his initial was hoping it would rub off like pen stains but, sadly, it didn't.

George covered his wrist with his hoodie sleeve, ignoring it, putting all the thoughts about it to the back of his mind. He decided it was time to start packing, after procrastinating the whole day, he was leaving tomorrow morning and yet here he is at 8pm with an empty suitcase!

He stared at his opened suitcase, waiting to be filled with clothes and items. He wondered to himself what he should put in it, yes clothes but what kind? He has never been to Florida. Is it hot? Should he bring shorts? Is it cold there? Should he bring warm clothes?

George groaned once more, he ran his hand over his face, not knowing what to pack.

Maybe he could call Dream and that could save him from his drowning thoughts.

He picked up his iPhone, quickly dialed up Dream's phone number, now waiting for Dream to pick up.

Hearing and seeing that Dream has picked up, George was the first one to speak.

" Dreaaaam. " The chocolate brunette spoke to the phone, putting his phone on speaker while speaking.

" Yes? That is my name. "

" I need help with packing. . . " George mumbled, almost groaning, yet again.

" You- No you're messing with me, right? You couldn't have left the packing until now, isn't it like, what, 8pm over there?! " Dream spoke loudly through the phone, shocked that George hadn't packed yet for the two week trip.

" Yes it's 8pm and just, I couldn't find myself doing it. " George came up with a random excuse.

" Geoooorge. You're going to be tired tomorrow but you can sleep on the plane. "

" I don't like sleeping on planes. " George slumped down on the floor, with his phone on the bed.

" Mh. Well you're gonna have to be fast at the packing then. "

" What should I bring? I don't know what to bring. Lost track of time while thinking about some things. "

" The soulmates thing again? " Dream sighs before answering George.

" I-. . . Yes, but- " George stuttered a tiny bit, Dream knew him so well but that's kinda normal since they've known each other for almost ten years.

" Don't worry about it, okay? It's not important at the moment. Think about the present and me. "

" Ha- funny. You're so funny, Dream. " George scoffed, almost laughing at Dream's words.

" I know, I know, I'm very funny. " George could hear the smirk in Dream's voice which caused him to roll his eyes and smile.

" But bring what you usually wear, you'll be here for two weeks and anything could work. "

" Okay, thanks. " George got up from the floor, stretching his legs and arms a bit, he walked over to his closet, opening it and looking at all the clothes he owned.

" No problem, no problem. "

Time to pack, let's go.

After half an hour or so, he had folded all his clothes neatly into one suitcase, even if Dream didn't speak to him, the silence was comforting.

Dream was probably busy with something, judging by the sound of fingers typing on a keyboard going through the phone. George really doesn't want to pack, it's a pain in the ass, it's so stressful because it’s really easy to forget anything and then regretting not remembering it.

George flops down on the floor completely, his back touching the cold wood, he sighs heavily, looking up at the ceiling, procrastinating again.

" George don't leave it ‘till the last minute, you'll regret it. " Dream butt in as he definitely heard George sigh.

" Shut uuuup. "

Dream chuckled softly. " You can do it, come on now. "

George sat back up with a huff and continued his packing, it took another half an hour until he had his essentials tucked into the suitcase, the suitcase looked rather neat and definitely looked like it had everything he might need or want to use.

Even if he did forget something he could just probably buy it in the shops near Dream's house.

No biggie.

" I think I'm finished. " George said, dragging out the ' I '.

" That's great. "

George closed the suitcase, it took a bit of time as the suitcase didn't really want to close even if everything was neatly folded.

" Dream? " George was hesitant to ask him something.

" Yeah? What's up. " Dream stopped what he was doing as George could hear the typing had stopped.

" Have you found your soulmate yet? "

There was a long pause, George regretted asking Dream that as he knew it was a sensitive subject to bring up, he didn't know why but he could sense it from the dirty blonde boy.

" No. I haven't. " His voice was monotonous, it kinda surprised George, it was kind of weird to hear that kind of tone from Dream as he was usually upbeat and a bit loud.

" I, I'm sorry, I know you find this subject sensitive. "

" I never said that but it's fine don't worry. "

George bit his bottom lip, getting up from the floor and onto the bed, he rubbed the back of his neck, feeling nervous and a bit awkward.

" George, you have to get up early for your flight tomorrow, I think you should sleep, we can talk later, okay? "

George looked at his alarm clock on his bed, Dream was right, it was kind of late and his flight tomorrow was at 7am.

" Oh, you're right! "
