Chapter Text
Before he knew it, George was off the bleachers and walking back the bench, where Karl was sitting with a sly grin.
"Came back, huh?" He put his hand on George's shoulder and George brushes it off, acting moody.
"God shut up..." George lets out a small grin and leans on the back of the bench, finally being able to let out a long, calming exhale. It had been a while where he had gone through a lot of practice without being, well, bullied, and it felt good.
His moment was doing perfectly fine until he saw #3 walking up to him. He snaps out of his good mood and back into action.
"Hey Waterboy!" He says, in a mocking tone. His smug grin was drilling into George.
"Hey Quackity," George is cautious of his words, not wanting to anger him. "Need some water?"
Quackity shoves him and George stumbles over. He quickly gets back on his feet, cheeks glowing red.
"Yes, you are literally the waterboy," He sneers. Karl turns around, but Quackity had an innocent grin on his face.
"Thank you!" He exclaims, looking George in the eye. Hard. He smiles a smile that just screams Crest-3D-Whitening-Toothpaste-Artic-Fresh- 4.1-oz but George knows better than to make fun of him for it. Quackity stands still, swallowing the water, when he sits down on the hot turf.
Sapnap pops up from laying down on Karl and starts to groan. "God, it's so hot..."
"You are literally wearing a hoodie." Quackity points out the obvious. Sapnap just wanted to stay benched the whole time so he could, well, sit with Karl.
"I know but," Sapnap turns around and stares at George. "Could you get me some water George?"
George nods and walks over to him, squirting the Gatorade bottle into his face. But to his surprise, it nails Sapnap in the face. The water drips across his face, onto his gray hoodie, and makes his waist and up completely wet.
"Shit, shit, I'm so sorry.. I didn't mean- I didn't try- I-" George was cut off by Sapnap grabbing his face and forcing George to look him in the eyes. Before George could react, Sapnap's eyes flash red in fury.
"WHAT THE FUCK GEORGE!" George winces at the sudden yells. "YOU COULDN'T JUST DO SOMETHING RIGHT? YOU COULDN'T JUST.. Y'KNOW.. PUT THE BOTTLE OVER MY MOUTH?"
The way he stumbles over his words just ALMOST made George laugh, but instead it unlocked something he didn't know he had. He whispered-screamed, as if the entire team wasn't staring at him already.
"Fucking hell Sapnap, everyone makes mistakes. You think I do this on purpose?" George had a pleased smile, but it didn't quite reach his eyes. Instead his eyes were full of fear. Sapnap didn't take the hint. He continued to scream at him, looking like a kid in a toy store when their mom didn't let them buy something. When Sapnap finally goes silent, George turns around. To his surprise, everyone is staring at them. Including the SBI Inc, including the weird teen, including Karl.
But one person was more important than the others- Dream. He pulls his helmet off and runs up to Sapnap and George, his expression reading no other two emotions than anger and concern.
He puts his hands on Sapnap and George's backs, making George flinch and Sapnap gives him a weird look, noticing the odd movement. Dream stands still, both of his hands still on them, waiting for them to calm down. He also waits patiently for everyone to scatter around and the sounds of shouts and giggles are heard once again.
Dream lowers his voice to a whisper when he speaks next. "Okay, now that everyone isn't paying attention, what the fuck happened to you two?" His words are a bit sarcastic, but his face was serious. He looked both Sapnap and George in the eyes, looking for an answer.
"Nothing happened.." George spoke softly, averting his glance. He could feel the fire coming out of Sapnap's glare, but he ignored it.
"Okay, I trust you George." Dream grabbed his chin and pulled him closer to him so George was looking him in the eyes. "Seriously." George looked away, feeling guilty. He was greeted with Sapnap's confused face. But while he made eye contact with Sapnap, he noticed that the look was something more. Not only was it confusion, it was amusement.
"Waterboy." Sapnap said his name and George tiled his head, a new habit he had just picked up from being the waterboy. "Can I talk to you?" George felt the back of his neck going hot, he didn't want to fucking die while he was alone with Sapnap.
"Uh... I guess?" George shrugged as if he didn't care, but in reality he was completely full of panic.
"Dream?" Sapnap asked for approval. Dream watched the two of them very carefully for a moment, then made his choice.
"Fine." He rolled his eyes. "Just don't kill each other.. or something. I don't know!" He joked around, but he noticed George's nerves. It was almost like he read his mind.
Sapnap grabbed George's arm and ran across the field, making George's heels drag against the hot ground. He ran faster than George could even say "I love you Dream!" which was quite impressive.
He pulled George inside the school and into the hallway, leaving the door open.
"You can trust me man, see, I left the door open." Sapnap let go of George's arm, which appeared to be bright red.
"Uh, shit okay." George turned bright red when he realized he had cursed again. Another nervous habit.
"Listen, I'm going to ask you a few real fucking questions and I want you to answer FUCKING honestly, you hear me?" Sapnap whispered-screamed. George nodded, unsure of what he was getting himself into.
"Dude... are you and Dream like.." Sapnap cringed at the same time George did. "Together?"
George couldn't contain his surprise.
"WHAT?" He screams and Sapnap shushes him. "No we are not.. what? Where did you even get that idea from?"
Sapnap smiles at him and before George could squeeze in another thought, Sapnap grabbed his chin. It took George a minute to realize what he was doing before Sapnap pulled his face to him.
"Oh George... Oh kind George.. Oh pretty waterboy! Please don't hurt my best friend Sapnap... Oh George! You are so pretty!" Sapnap does a ridiculous Dream impression, making George look away. George felt the pink rise to his cheeks.
"Am I right or am I right?" Sapnap pushes George away and smirks, looking satisified with himself.
"You aren't right.. and why do you need to know anyways?" George asks, one upping him. The shift in the mood was fast and the world seemed to be topping over by the way Sapnap's confidence changed. He fiddled with his hoodie strings and struggled to answer. Did he like Dream too? George was too close to being lost in thoughts before Sapnap spoke up.
"Before you ask... I have a crush on a GIRL, thank you very much. And I was just concerned, because you looked really uncomfortable in front of him. Like completely red, not looking him in the eyes, like you were hiding something. Like you were trying to hide the fact that you two were dating on the side or something." Sapnap rambles on, touching the back of his neck while he speaks. He clearly felt stupid, and George took this to his advantage.
"No! No! I was just hot.." George lied right to one of the boys he barely knew before this practice. George looks Sapnap in the eyes, scared to move a muscle. But before George could say another word, the slight flicker in Sapnap's eyes was pathetic. The lightbulb was not only forming above Sapnap's head, it was powering up. Way to fast. Sapnap jumped out of his stance and doubled over, uncontrollably laughing.
"GEORGE-" He was hysterically laughing, almost as if he was a physcopath. George blinked twice, not knowing what was even going down. Sapnap got back up and whispered, so low that George wouldn't hear if he hadn't been paying attention to his every word. "George.. are you gay?"
To these words, George snickered. He didn't deny it, but he wasn't gay. He was still questioning. How was he supposed to know? Sure, he had found boys attractive, but he had never had a crush on a boy since Dream.
Shaking his head to get rid of the thoughts of sexuality, George keeps snickering. Soon him and Sapnap are on the floor, giggling like five year olds. The slight pitter-patter of rain was heard from the pavement outside, but the two boys ignored it.
Once the laughing died down, Sapnap and George got up. To their surprise, there was Dream, standing in the doorway.
"Care to share what is so funny?" Dream smirked, knowing that the boys would be great friends. "It's late. Practice is over. It's six pm."
George scrambled to his feet and grabbed his phone out of his pocket, afraid of the texts his mom had sent him. He was greeted with a ton of messages, all asking where he was. He was supposed to be home at 5:30! George winced at his own thoughts of what he was going to ask, but he did it anyways.
"I'm so sorry but.. could one of you drive me home? It's just my mom, she-" Dream cut him off.
"Of course! We drive home together, so, you are welcome to join." George ignored the look Sapnap was giving him and thanked Dream. They left the building in silence, except for the sound of the rock Sapnap was kicking around.
"George, it's raining, take my jacket. Seriously." Dream stopped in the middle of his tracks in the parking lot and pulled the jacket with the #1 on it and handed it to George. Waterboy held it awkwardly in his hands before Dream yelled at him.
"Well, what are you waiting for! Put it on!" Dream smiled when George put the varsity jacket over his body. George stared at Sapnap, who was clearly giving him a very... suggestive look.
George hopped into the front seat of Dream's car, which seemed to have lots of stuff in the backseat. The empty coffee mugs, grocery bags, and empty Munchin boxes were littering the backseat. Ignoring them, Sapnap pushed them to the side and scrolled on his phone before wiggling his eyebrows at George.
Dream pulled the windows down with his control, because although it was raining, all the boys were extremely hot. It was completely silent the whole time, except for when Dream asked for George's address. George face-palmed himself in his mind, but still answered truthfully.
When they pulled up to his house, Dream started to speak again. "Do you want me to walk you up?" He asked, clearly looking a bit concerned for George's safety.
"I'm fine..." George looked embarrassed, but he still hopped out of the car. While walking up the steps, he heard the faint voices of Sapnap and Dream.
"I gave him my jacket! We didn't kiss or something.." Dream has a faint annoyance in his voice. Sapnap was too quiet to hear, but Dream was loud and clear. "No! I don't have a secret diary where I write about how pretty Waterboy is!"
George kept quiet about what he had heard, but when he got inside his house and slammed the door, he laughed his ass off.
