December 26th 1998
Dear Diary
I had the best Christmas ever!!! I was so sleepy last night that I couldn’t pick up my pen and write so I’ll fill you in before me, mum and nani go to see Levi and his mum.
WHAT I GOT FROM SANTA
- A rock polisher!! This was on the top of my list to Santa and he really got it for me. I’ve been so good this year! I only got detention FOUR times and grounded TWICE this year. I’m so happy
- Books – the new Harry Potter one, the new Merlin one and loads of Goosebumps ones
- Greek myth ensyclopedia
- English – Greek Dictionary
- Chemistry set
- Candy Factory
- Spirograph
- Sea Monkeys!! I asked for more because my old ones died
- Bug’s Life pyjamas
- 5000 piece puzzle. It’s got the nine planets on it!
- Alex got Crash Bandicoot for his playstation but he promised I can have a go on it so it’s basically my game too
- Lots and lots of chocolate and fruity candy canes.
- Barbie horse computer game for the new computer. I did not ask Santa for this.
Dad bought a computer for everybody to use. He said it has all kinds of games like chess, and you can play against the computer. It’s basically a robot that knows exactly what moves to make so it can be quite hard. Zack got a game called Flight Simolatore Simulator, which is where you pretend to fly a plane. I want to have a go on it too – Zack better not hog it! Aunty Alexandra always sends me a drachma as a present and she didn’t forget this year! I put it in my drachma box along with the rest.
There were some things on my list that Santa didn’t get me. I asked him for any one of these pets.
- A puppy – any kind.
- A kitten – any kind.
- A bearded dragon.
- A snake – anaconda or king cobra.
- A venus fly trap.
Mum said Santa thinks I cant look after living things because I let my old sea monkeys die. I didn’t LET them die. They just died on their own. It was sad and me and Levi gave them a proper funeral, so it’s not like I didn’t care. But there wont be a funeral this time, because I’ll look after my new ones really well and santa can see I’m good at it and maybe next year I’ll get a dog. Zach made fun of me and said the only thing I can look after is a polished rock. That’s not true at all! I told him that I kept my Tamagotchi alive for ages but he kept saying that I lost it. he doesn’t know that they stole it from me at school.
But the best present of all was the one I got from Levi. He made me a big poster with all the xmen on it. I think his mum helped because Levis not THAT good at drawing. I love it anyway and I’ve already stuck it up on my wall.
I hope Levi got good things. There was only one thing on his Christmas list and that was a pair of new trainers. I told him that he should ask santa for more because he gets really good marks in school and hes never in trouble and santa likes that. But he said there wasn’t much he wanted except for those.
Anyway Levi is lucky because his birthday is on Christmas day too, so he gets DOUBLE presents. I gave him two things. A monkey beanie baby for his beanie baby collecsion collection. And some moon shoes. Mum thinks moon shoes make a silly present but I kept telling her that Levi loves going on my ones so it was only fair that I got him some of his own. I paid for all of these with my pocket money. It took a whole year of saving but I did it.
I almost forgot to say! My secret santa at school got me a deck of cards. Alex is going to teach me how to play games with them.
Just got back from Levis flat.
I love going to their flat. I don’t go a lot, but when I do his mum always gives me a big hug and something nice to eat. She had red lipstick on and tinsel in her hair. she looked like christmas. Today she gave us gingerbread men that she made with Levi. They looked SOOOOOO cute. Each one had an icing sweater on!!!!! I licked each sweater off. I was allowed to eat as many as I liked because she made too many for just her and Levi. I’m still full from Christmas dinner yesterday but I ate four anyway. Mum told me off for that.
We brought Levi and his mum some snacks from home. Nani makes the best samosas so we brought a whole tub. Mum brought some of dad’s baklava and she took some biscuit boxes from our house. I tried to stop her, but mum got so many from her patients as gifts so it was only fair that we shared them.
LEVI LOVED HIS MOON SHOES SO MUCH.
I knew he would. he showed off them off but he wasn’t allowed to jump properly because it would bother the neighbours downstairs. When he wears them he is a bit taller than me!! As soon as the weather gets better I’ll take him hopping around the park. He also loved his new beanie baby. Levi has a small beanie baby collction but I know he wants to have a huge one like the ones we see in magazines.
Then he showed me what he got from Santa. He got the trainers he asked for, but they were LIGHT UP TRAINERS. How cool is that? Every time he takes a step, the lights flash red and blue. It’ll look super cool when he’s running. I CANT WAIT TO SEE IT.
Levi was soooooooooooo good this year that he got things from santa that he didn’t even ask for. I told him he’s amazing so it only makes sense that santa brought him Cluedo and some books. He also got a new football top with Beckham on the back. So cool for him! He’ll look like a proper football player now. I wish I could kick a ball.
His secret santa got him a big chocolate bar. Levi doesn’t like chocolate very much, so he gave it to me instead. MORE PRESENTS FOR MEEEEE
Anyway its so cool that Levi is finally 8 like me. There’s only two years to go until we can take the mensa test!!
Just found out santa isn’t real
Im shaking as I write this.
I heard them all laughing about it, even dad.
So whats the point of sending him letters and leaving milk and cookies out for him??? WHO EATS IT
Whats the point in being good all year???? I tried so hard.

WHY DOES EVERYBODY LIE TO ME
Got off the phone to Levi.
Told him about santa being a lie.
he was really calm, he said he had a feeling santa was a lie because every year his mum does extra shifts at the salon around Christmas. It made sense, I think, because if santa really gave out free presents for kids then his mum wouldn’t have to do that.
Levi said its more about baby jesus, sharing things with people and spending time with family. Then I felt bad because he doesn’t have lots of family like me.
He is right, it all makes sense. I feel a bit better about being lied to now. And anyway, I share all my things with Levi!!!! I always have and I always will! So he doesn’t have to worry about only having a mum.
Whats mine is his, forever. and next year i'll make christmas even better for him
