Chapter Text
Detective Duncan Idaho didn't think he would fall in love at first sight, but four years ago, when a dainty sketch artist named Paul Atreides, came off the elevator at his precinct, he fell hard. His scent was gorgeous and he knew right away he was an Omega. The eight year old girl who witness the assault of her mother was deaf, so they were waiting for an interpreter as well. At least until the Omega who knocked his socks off surprised him again and began signing with her.
It took him awhile, but Paul got the girl to open up and describe the guy to a T. “That was impressive,” Duncan said as Paul tore the page from his book and handed it to him. “Wow, you even got her to remember a birth mark,” he said.
“Yeah,” Paul said. “Sweatshirt was red, hat was blue. Wore black pants,” he said, noticing Duncan was just staring at him. “Shouldn't you have written all of that down?” Paul asked and Duncan chuckled nervously as he got out his note pad and wrote what Paul had just said. “Where'd you learn to sign?” Duncan asked as Paul packed up his art stuff.
“My mom taught me. Her mother was deaf and she also teaches deaf kids,” he said.
“Wow, you're incredible,” he said and Paul ducked his head down, Duncan seeing a soft blush come over his face. He looked cute while blushing. A thought went to his head, wondering if the whole body blushes. “Are you free tonight?” he asked.
“Tonight?” Paul asked.
“Yeah, I wanna take you out for dinner,” he said.
“I can't. It's a school night for me. I'm in graduate school,” he said.
“Wait, how old are you?”
“Eighteen,” Paul answered. “I'm somewhat of a prodigy,” he added. It was a humble brag. Paul was a child prodigy. He graduated from high school at 12, college at 16 before going into graduate school. He left Seattle, his home town for personal reasons that he was hoping to keep to himself. He had reasons to come to New York on the other side of the country.
“So when can I take you out?” Paul sighed as he zipped his pencil case up. “Oh, come on. I'm harmless.”
“You're an Alpha,” he said as he put his case into his bag, along with his sketch book. “I have plans for my life,” he said.
“Of course, and what are those?”
“Become an anthropologist and a kick ass artist.”
“Wow, that's...”
“After I'm done with graduate school, I'll be working on my doctorate, hopefully getting my PhD before I turn twenty five,” Paul said.
“Who says I'll stop you from doing that?” Duncan asked causing Paul to look up at him. “Duncan Idaho, homicide detective, NYPD.”
“Paul Atreides, forensic sketch artist, also NYPD,” he said and Duncan chuckled. “You can take me out on that date on Friday night. I have no school Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays.”
“Perfect.” Paul wrote down his number and handed it to Duncan. “Thanks,” he said with a smile. Paul smiled back before taking his bag and heading to the elevator. He heard his phone go off and he got it out of his pocket.
“Hello?”
“Just checking,” a voice said and he turned to see Duncan sitting at his desk with his phone to his ear. “And now you have my number.” Paul chuckled as he hung up and got into the elevator.
One date and fours years later solidified to Duncan that Paul was the one for him. Two years after they started 'courting' as he liked to call it, Paul moved out of his dormitory and into Duncan's brownstone he had inherited from his uncle.
Now they were married, doing it spur of the moment and at the courthouse. Two months since they did and they were fresh in the newlywed phase.
The elevator opened to the forensic lab at 1PP and Detective Duncan Idaho strolled off of it and he made the familiar walk to the office of his little Omega husband. Paul wasn't in his office and Duncan was directed to the bone lab. Paul was hunched over a lit up table, diligently putting a skeleton onto it in order. His little bone doctor was completely focused he didn't hear Duncan come into the room. He did smell him, however. He heard his husband take a deep inhale of breath as he came up behind him. “How is my little forensic artist slash bone doctor?”
“Under caffeinated and I'm not a doctor yet,” he said, not looking up from his work. Duncan produced a coffee he was hiding behind his back and Paul gasped out in surprise. He immediately took a swig through the straw and moaned in delight. “Oh, I love you so much,” he said.
“Me or the coffee?”
“Both, but you more,” Paul said and Duncan chuckled as he put the iced coffee onto the table, away from the bones.
“You got up early this morning,” Duncan said as he wrapped his arms around Paul from behind.
“I swung by the gallery to make sure everything was in place for the opening tonight,” Paul said as he shifted some pieces around before getting a new piece.
“You stress too easily my little Omega,” Duncan said as he buried his face into his neck, nuzzling Paul's mating gland.
“Please don't nuzzle my mating gland while I'm holding the bone of a murder victim,” he said.
“Sorry,” Duncan grunted as Paul placed the bone in the proper place.
“I almost got her together,” he said.
“So, the murder victim is female,” Duncan said as he straightened up. Paul nodded before looking back at his husband. “You okay?”
“The labs tested some substance I found on the pelvic bone. She was pregnant. It was fetal DNA from the umbilical cord,” Paul said and Duncan let out a sigh as eased his mate with his scent. Paul seemed to relax in his embrace. “Sorry, I'm just stressing over the show.”
“You'll do great,” he said. Paul may becoming an anthropologist, but art was a second love that Duncan was not going to squash. A room in his house was a dedicated art space for his very artistic Omega and his first show was happening tonight. “I like the theme.”
“Well, that's what happens when you work at the forensic lab and you get inspired by cases,” Paul said and Duncan chuckled, causing him to relax. “God, it's going to be too dark,” he quipped and Duncan felt him panicking.
“Ah, ah, none of that. It is going to be great. I'll be there right by your side and our friends and co workers will be there,” he said and Paul let out a sigh as he turned around in Duncan's arms. He put his arms around his neck and just stared up at his husband. “And hopefully some respectful buyers will be there.”
“I'm not expecting any paintings to sell the first showing,” Paul said. “I mean, that'd be nice,” he added and Duncan chuckled as he kissed Paul's forehead.
“Think positive, baby,” he said.
“What would I do without you?” he asked the Alpha.
“You'd die,” Duncan joked, causing Paul to chuckle and then smack him on the arm, pushing him away. “Ah, babe, come on.”
“I have work to do, so just....”
“All right, I will leave you to your bones and your coffee,” Duncan said. “I was thinking we could have a big lunch and then after the show, Remy's?”
“Oh, I like that idea,” Paul said with a smile. Duncan smiled along with him and drew in close. Paul was putty in his hands whenever he kissed him and right now at this moment was not any different. The Omega let out a little moan as they softly kissed.
“All right, I'll swing by around 1 to pick you up for lunch,” he said.
“Okay,” Paul said. “Love you.”
“Love you more,” Duncan said as he left the bone room. “Hey, Dr. Kynes,” he said with a smile.
“Detective, calm your husband down? He's been stressed since he came in this morning,” she said.
“I did. Even gave him some coffee to keep him going for ya,” he said and she chuckled. “We'll see you at the show tonight, I hope.”
“I wouldn't miss it,” she said with a smile before heading into the bone room.
Duncan sat down at his desk to finished much needed paperwork and pray no one got murdered for the rest of his day. He thought back to the first day he met Paul and couldn't believe he got the little thing to go out with him. Paul's filled out the four years since they met. Duncan dragged him to lift weights and build muscle on him. He couldn't always be there with him. He even taught him how to shoot. He chuckled at the memory.
<><><><><><><><> Flashback <><><><><><><><>
Duncan handed Paul the gun after he got his safety gear on. “Okay, remember the gun safety I taught ya?” he asked and Paul nodded. “All right, take your stance, like I showed ya,” he instructed. Paul cleared his throat as he took hold of the gun and aimed. He shot, missing the target. “It's okay. I wasn't expecting you to hit the target on your first try.” Paul rolled his eyes and took aim, but he closed his eyes. “Ya know you're supposed to have your eyes open to shot someone, right?” he asked in a joking matter.
“You really want to criticize my shooting while I'm holding a gun?” Paul asked.
“Touche, but you need to see your target to hit it,” Duncan argued. Paul fired and hit the target, but missed the outline. “In the black part, indicating a person.” Paul fired again and hit the target in the groin area causing Duncan to flinch. “Remind me not to piss you off.”
“Noted,” Paul said as he fired again, hitting the assailant in the shoulder.
“Not bad,” Duncan said as Paul smiled. “How about this for a little incentive? You place any of your next three shots in the ten ring and you can pick where we go for dinner tonight?”
“Seriously?” Paul asked.
“Seriously,” Duncan said. Paul changed his stance and looked dead straight at the target. He fired three rounds, all of them going into ten ring, center mass. Duncan removed his safety goggles as Paul put the gun down and smiled. “You can shoot?”
“My dad had his head of security teach me,” Paul said. “And no restaurants tonight. You are cooking for me in this fancy new chef's kitchen that you keep telling me about,” he said and Duncan chuckled.
“I will text you the address,” he said before kissing Paul.
<><><><><><><> End of Flashback <><><><><><><>
“Duncan?” Duncan realized he had been daydreaming when his partner called out to him. “You with us?” Cohen, his partner asked. He sighed out as he put the last of his paperwork for the morning in it's place. “Thinking of your mate again?”
“Still in the honeymoon phase,” Duncan said.
“You'll be in the honeymoon phase for at least a year. Especially with an Omega like Paul,” he said, causing Duncan to look up at him. “I'm just saying.”
“Right,” he said. “I was thinking about him. What time is it?”
“Almost one,” Cohen said.
“Shit, I gotta go and get him for lunch. Want to make sure we have a full stomach for the show.” He stood up, hooking his gun onto his belt and getting his jacket.
“Say hi for me,” his partner said and Duncan chuckled before heading back out to get his husband.
Duncan and Paul wound up at their favorite Italian restaurant. They always get good food here and they got their favorite table. Paul having turned 21 last year, proudly showed off his ID when the waiter asked for it. “Feels, good, huh?” Duncan asked and Paul chuckled.
“Yeah,” he said as he looked at the menu. He didn't know why, he always got the same thing. “I got class after this, so I'm just going to go home and relax before the show.”
“Okay,” Duncan said. “Hey, I was thinking about something.”
“What?” he asked.
“We never went on a honeymoon when we got married. I think we should go somewhere for like a week, before the holidays come around.”
“Oh, did you have an idea on where we could go?”
“I've been looking on Airbnb and there are some promising places, not too far from here,” he said and Paul chuckled.
“I would be happy with a week at the Plaza,” he said.
“Oh, no, honey, I'm not talking about a hotel honeymoon. I'm talking a week in the Hamptons or Cape Cod.”
“Oh, that sounds good,” Paul said and Duncan smiled.
“Maybe we could go to Seattle,” he said and Paul's demeanor immediately changed.
“No, I'm not going back that city,” he said and Duncan frowned. “I can't go back.”
“Okay, no Seattle,” he said and he reached across the table to grasp his husband's hand. “Hey, sorry I brought it up.”
“It's okay,” Paul said and Duncan gave him a wink. “I love you, Duncan Idaho.”
“And I love you more, Paul Atreides-Idaho.”
“If it's okay, I'm going to keep using Atreides when I get my doctorate,” Paul said and his Alpha husband smiled.
“I expect nothing less from you,” he said and Paul chuckled. He brought Paul's hand up to his lips and kissed his knuckles. “I'm starving, let's eat.”
Paul let out a sigh as he came back from his afternoon class to his home with Duncan. He punched in the alarm code, resetting it after closing the door and locking it back up. He was an Omega home alone. Duncan wanted him safe. A sharp bark drew his attention to their Frenchie. “Emil, there you are,” Paul said as the cream colored Frenchie came running up to him. “Oh, did you miss your Daddy?” he asked as he picked him up. Emil kissed him with his tongue getting him to laugh before he put him down. “Oh, Daddy's gotta relax before his big night, so let's go,” he said as he climbed the stairs.
The brownstone in which Duncan and Paul live was inherited by the former. Duncan's uncle suddenly passed away and with no children, save for his nephew, it was passed to him. His husband had said when he first got the house, it was in complete disarray and needed remodeled in every room, on every floor. At first Duncan was just going to put it up on the market and let someone else deal with it, until he was completely broadsided by the rest of his inheritance from his uncle. Duncan had no idea his uncle was so rich. Over the course of four years, since he inherited the house, Duncan, doing most of the work himself, renovated the whole house, while living in it.
Paul entered the master bedroom and took off his coat, scarf and shoes. Emil went over to his dog bed against the wall and left Paul to his relaxing. He let out a sigh as he walked into the bathroom and reached up for his lavender bubble bath. He uncapped it and took a whiff. He let out a soft sigh as he seemed to start relaxing already. He plugged up the tub, started the water and poured some bubble bath into the tub. He began to undress, glad that Duncan got the central heat figured out for the big house. He pulled his hair back with a headband and sunk down into the water with a sigh. “Oh, yeah, I needed this,” he said to no one in particular. He leaned his head back against the back to the clawed bathtub and raised up his foot to turn off the water.
Omegas enjoyed baths more than showers. Sure, Paul took showers when he was in a hurry, but always enjoyed a good soak. The way Duncan designed the bathroom was perfect. The clawed tub that Paul was currently residing in was the original one. The shower was interesting. Paul wasn't sure what inspired his husband to design it that way until Duncan said that he liked the way Harmon Rabb's shower in JAG was and he chuckled. Paul found himself pressed up against the glass wall numerous times since it's completion. Paul let out a sigh as he found himself remembering his first night in Duncan's house. It was the night he lost his virginity.
<><><><><><><><><> Flashback <><><><><><><><><><
Duncan stepped aside to let Paul into the house. “Wow, this place is huge,” he said and Duncan chuckled as he closed the door and locked it. “You inherited this from your uncle?” he asked and he nodded.
“Every single floor needed redone. It was a mess. It's still a mess,” he said. “Can I take your coat?” he asked. Paul seemed taken aback, but Paul let him take his coat and put it on a hook by the door. “So, you want a home cooked meal?”
“I do,” he said.
Paul found himself wandering around the living room as Duncan worked his magic in the kitchen. He loved to cook and apparently Paul loved to eat. “So you're working your way up with your renovations?” he asked.
“Yeah, everything needs done. New floors, new trim. This whole kitchen was too retro for me,” Duncan said and Paul chuckled as he looked at the photographs Duncan had around on his mantel.
“Is this your Mom?” he asked looking at a picture of his boyfriend and a woman. Footsteps came up behind him and Duncan chuckled.
“Yeah, that was the day I graduated from the police academy.”
“Your hair is so short,” he said and he chuckled. “Yet you can have long hair now?”
“As long as I keep it out of my face, my captain doesn't mind it,” Duncan said. “I had short hair since joining the Navy and becoming a SEAL. I had to keep it short while I was on patrol, but once I became a detective, I got an undercover assignment. Started growing out my hair and this is what you got.”
“I like the long hair. Don't ever cut it,” Paul said and Duncan chuckled.
“Dinner's almost ready.”
After dinner, Duncan took Paul on a tour of the rest of the house. Paul found his way around himself and Duncan followed him. He lead them toward the third floor. “There's more bedrooms upstairs. Trying to make it so that there isn't just one bathroom up there.”
“What's in here?” Paul asked, opening the door. It was obviously Duncan's bedroom. A massive king size bed sat against the wall.
“My room,” Duncan said and Paul smirked at him.
“Obviously,” he said as Duncan closed the bedroom door behind them. “You didn't go with hardwood floors in here,” he said. The carpet was a soft gray and was also soft from the feel of it on his socked feet.
“No, I didn't. Carpet is nice on feet from the cold floor in the bathroom.” Paul was looking at the wall facing the bed before he got a puzzled look. “What?”
“Is this room smaller than is should be?” Paul asked and the Alpha chuckled as he walked over to the mirror on the wall. He pushed it and a secret door popped open. Paul's eyes widened as he walked over to the secret room. “Wow, what is this?”
“They call it a panic room or safe room,”Duncan said. “Concrete walls, separate phone line. Security system through the whole house. I'm going to upgrade it with a better system eventually. I mean, it's not like I need it, but I decided to keep it.”
“I like this,” he said. They entered it and he chuckled. “It has it's own bathroom.”
“Yeah, my uncle was paranoid. He's got this place stocked with enough supplies he could stay in here for a month.”
“Cool,” he said. “I could probably have a heat in here,” he said and Duncan bit his lip.
“You could if you want.”
“I'd only have a heat if I go off my suppressants, detective,” he said.
“Right,” he said before watching Paul look around. He glanced over at the button to close the door and on a whim he hit it. Paul gasped out when the door shut, closing him in with the Alpha. Duncan walked toward him and he found himself back into one of the crates of supplies. Duncan pressed their hips together and Paul swallowed nervously before his mouth was captured in a deep kiss. He moaned into the kiss as Duncan pressed even more against him and he clearly felt the erection of the Alpha. He wrapped his arms around Duncan's neck to hold him place to kiss him. Duncan's hands moved around his body and he gasped out when they moved down and cupped his ass.
The Alpha trailed his lips down the Omega's neck, the opposite side of his mating gland.
“I'm not losing my virginity in a safe room, Detective Idaho,” Paul stated. He heard Duncan growl against his neck and he cried out when the Alpha suddenly picked him up, throwing him over his shoulder. Duncan smacked the button to open the panic room door and he pushed the mirror door open. Paul giggled as he walked them over to the bed and then shrieked when the Alpha tossed him onto the bed.
“You serious?” Duncan asked causing him to look up at him. “You haven't done this before?”
“Well, I've laid in a bed before.”
“I'm serious, Paul. You're a virgin?” he asked and Paul nervously nodded his head.
“I haven't done this with anyone, let alone an Alpha like you,” he said.
“I'll be gentle then,” Duncan said before taking off his shirt. Paul stared at a shirtless Duncan Idaho in amazement before he removed his shirt as sell. He wasn't muscle bound like Duncan, but the Alpha was determined he not be a little stick anymore. “Gorgeous,” Duncan stated and Paul blushed. “Your whole body blush when complimented?”
“Want to find out?” Paul asked and Duncan smirked before removing his pants, prompting Paul to remove his as well. Paul giggled when the Alpha reached up to remove his pants for him.
“Turn over,” he said. Paul did what he said and he felt Duncan's hands on his hips. He sat up on his elbows and glanced back to see Duncan reach for his underwear. “Lift.” The Omega in his whined as he lifted his hips and Duncan slowly pulled off his underwear. “So perfect,” Duncan whispered and Paul hid his face behind his hands. “You are and don't let anyone tell you other wise.” Paul watched through his fingers as Duncan reached up to pull his own underwear off and he gawked at the cock before him.
“Is that going to fit in me?” he asked and Duncan chuckled before getting on the bed with him. He gasped out when the Alpha loomed over him, nuzzling his neck, kissing his gland before pressing his mouth to his ear.
“I'll make it fit,” Duncan whispered softly and Paul moaned in anticipation. “I do anything that makes you uncomfortable, you let me know and I'll stop, okay?”
“Okay,” he said before Duncan started to kiss the back of his neck, moving slowly down his spine. He sunk into the bed, holding onto a pillow. “Oh, fuck,” he muttered. Duncan peppered kisses all the way down the crevice of his ass and he moaned feeling his tongue lick just at the spot before his crack began. He let out a whiny moan when Duncan lifted himself up from and he groaned out.
“Not ready for rimming just yet,” Duncan quipped.
“Yeah, I want your cock in my ass, not your tongue,” Paul said and the Alpha let out a hearty laugh as he reached into the bedside drawer. He pulled out condoms and lube.
“First things first. Gotta get you ready for my cock,” Duncan said as he popped the cap open and spread some lube onto his fingers. Paul let out a nervous breath as he pressed his face into the pillow. “Ah, ah, I want to hear everything that comes out of that mouth of yours,” Duncan said as he put the lube down. Paul moaned feeling the first finger breach him and he clenched around it. “Don't fight it, baby.”
“Oh, fuck,” Paul gasped out. A burning sensation spread through him and he groaned as Duncan's finger wiggled into him. “Oh, God, Duncan.”
“Easy, baby. That's just one finger. Not nearly enough to get you open for my cock.” Paul groaned feeling a second finger join the first. He felt himself spread his legs a bit and Duncan chuckled. “That's it. Take my fingers, baby.” Paul's eyes rolled up into the back of his head as Duncan pumped his fingers in and out of him. He let out a startled moan when they touched something.
“Fuck, wha,” he gasped out and Duncan chuckled.
“There it is,” he said. “Let's see if I can hit it again.” A third finger joined the other two and Paul was blithering mess as Duncan found that sweet spot in him that he never been able to find with his own fingers.
“Duncan, babe,” he said. He felt Duncan press a kiss on his head.
“You ready for my cock, Omega?” he asked and Paul found himself nodded his head fast.
“Ready, Alpha,” he moaned. He whined at the loss when Duncan took his fingers out and he heard him get a condom open to roll on his cock.
“Unfortunately, I won't get a knot because we're not in a heat and rut, but I'll still make this enjoyable for you,” Duncan said. Paul gasped out when Duncan turned him over onto his back. “Fuck, you are just as gorgeous from the front as you are in the back,” he said and Paul smiled, blushing profusely. “Wow, that blush really does go through your whole body.”
“Shut up,” Paul giggled. Duncan chuckled as he got on top of Paul, covering his body with his and he kissed him, hard. Paul moaned into the kiss as he reached up. He undid the little man bun Duncan had and let his hair fall down onto him. He ran his fingers through Duncan's hair as he kissed his mating gland softly. It made him whimpered as Duncan got his legs open and he hitched up his hips.
“I'm going to go slow first, because it's going to hurt. You want to stop, you have to let me know, okay?”
“Okay,” Paul said, nodding his head. Duncan was practically on top of Paul as he guided his cock to his hole. Paul winched at the first breach as Duncan's cock pressed into him. “Fuck, that's...”
“Okay?” Duncan asked, stopping.
“I'm okay. Keep going,” he said. Duncan continued to ease himself the Omega who was a panting hot met as his girth spread him out. “Oh, Duncan.” Eyes rolled up into the back of his head and his mouth hung up as a long breathless moan escaped him.
“Easy, take it all in, Omega. It's what you were made for,” Duncan said and Paul moaned as he eased up to let the Alpha's cock into him. “Fuck, you feel so good around my cock,” Duncan said, before pressing a kiss onto his neck. He let out a sigh as he was fully seated into Paul. “Fuck, you feel so good,” he said.
“Duncan, please move,” Paul pleaded.
“Patience, baby boy,” he said.
“Yeah, I don't have that,” the Omega snapped. Duncan chuckled as he got Paul to wrap his legs around his waist and slowly eased out. Paul gasped out when he pulled out and then slowly eased back in.
“Okay?” Duncan asked and Paul nodded his head before pulling his head down into a kiss. He braced his knees into the bed and began to thrust in and out of his lover. Paul tightened his legs around Duncan's waist, getting a deep growl from him. “Oh, fuck, you feel so good.”
“You said that already,” Paul quipped with a smirk. Duncan jutted his hips up, getting a sharp moan from the Omega and he started to vigorously thrust into Paul. “Duncan,” he moaned, grasping onto the Alpha's shoulders. Duncan swooped down for a kiss and they moaned into each other's mouths. Each thrust Duncan gave to Paul procured a moan from the man underneath him. He peppered kisses down Paul's neck to hear the fleeting moans coming from his mouth. “Duncan. Alpha.” He growled against the neck, taking a little nip of the skin. Paul let out a moan, his legs tightening around his waist.
“Are you close?” he asked.
“Yes, yes, I am,” Paul said and Duncan reached down to grasp his cock. “Duncan,” he moaned as the detective began to pump his cock in time with his thrusts. “Yes, yes. Like that,” he moaned. He began to move his hips with Duncan, trying to bring himself off faster. “Oh, fuck,” he gasped out.
“That's it, baby. Let me here ya and just come as hard as you want,” he said. As soon as he said that, Paul let out a sharp cry and he came hard. He clenched hard on the cock inside of him and Duncan let out a groan. He chased his orgasm as Paul had his and he came in a deep guttural groan. “Oh, fuck,” he exclaimed.
<><><><><><><><><><> End of Flashback <><><><><><><><><>
Paul opened his eyes to see his husband standing in the doorway of the bathroom. “Hey,” he said.
“Hey, beautiful,” Duncan said.
“When did you get home?” Paul asked as he sat up in the tub.
“Couple of minutes ago,” Duncan said as he walked over to the tub and sat on the edge. “Want some company for a bit?”
“What time is it?” he asked trying to see the clock in the bedroom.
“Almost five. Show starts at seven,” Duncan said.
“Eh, why not,” Paul said and Duncan chuckled as he started to strip. Soon he was in the tub with Paul settled between his legs.
“Were you able to relax?” Duncan asked as Paul settled his under his chin.
“Some,” he said, fiddling with Duncan's fingers as his husband kissed his temple.
“How was your class?” he asked.
“Good. I took a short nap in the tub,” Paul said and Duncan chuckled knowing that when his husband said that, he meant he went into REM sleep and dreamed about them. He always dreamed about them.
“What did you dream about?”
“The night you took my virginity,” Paul answered and Duncan let out a low moan.
“That was a perfect night for virginity taking,” he said and Paul chuckled. He bit his lip feeling Duncan's cock twitch underneath him. He turned around in the tub and straddled Duncan's lap. He kissed his husband, getting a deep growl from him.
“Take it again, Alpha,” he whispered. Duncan deepened the kiss as Paul sat up on his knees. Both of them work Paul onto Duncan's cock and the moaned as he sunk down onto it.
“Fuck, why are you always so tight?” he asked.
“Only for you.” Duncan chuckled as he grabbed his mate.
They didn't care if they got water on the floor, which they did. Once satisfied, they got out of the tub and started to get ready. Paul came out where his dark suit and Duncan found himself contemplating taking Paul to bed. His husband seemed to catch on. “No, I have a show,” he said as he got some shoes on. “We can have sex after we get Remy's and come home.”
“Seriously? With you looking like that all night?”
“The tub sex isn't going to stave you for a few hours?” he asked and Duncan chuckled as he walked over. He kissed Paul softly. “We seriously need to get going if we're going to make it to the gallery on time,” he said.
“Okay.”
Paul let out a sigh as people started piling in. Most were coworkers of his and Duncan's. Some were people he didn't know. “See, all these people are here for you.”
“We know most of these people,” Paul said, looking at his husband. “They're here for the free booze,” he added and Duncan chuckled. He wasn't wrong.
“You're not wrong about some of them on that,” he said and Paul chuckled. He smiled as people came in and waved to him. “Speaking of, you want something?”
“Anything red for now,” Paul said. Duncan gave him a kiss before heading to the bar.
“Paul Atreidies!” a very familiar voice called out. He looked and gasped out in shock. Running towards him was his childhood best friend.
“Chani!” The two hugged each other, not having seen each other since Paul ran away from home. “Oh, my God, I can't believe you're here,” he said and she laughed.
“I wasn't going to miss your first show,” she said.
“I'm glad you're here,” he said with a smile. “There's so much to tell you.”
“Really?” she asked. Duncan took that time to come up with Paul's drink.
“Here ya go, baby.”
“Thanks,” Paul said taking the glass of red wine from his husband. “Duncan, this is my best friend from childhood, Chani.”
“You came all the way from Seattle?”
“Well, I'm going to graduate school at NYU now,” she said.
“Shut up. Are you serious?” Paul asked and she nodded. “Wow, you gotta give me your number to we can stay in touch.”
“Not until you tell me about this tall, dark handsome Alpha standing next to you,” she said and Duncan chuckled seeing his husband turn pink.
“Chani, this is Duncan Idaho. He's my husband,” he said and Chani gasped out.
“Husband? You got married?”
“Two months and counting,” Paul said, showing off his wedding ring.
“Oh, my God!” she exclaimed before wrapping Paul into a hug. “Oh, it's wonderful to meet you,” she said, hugging Duncan's middle.
“Yeah, you too,” he said and she chuckled.
“I just, before Paul left Seattle in the night, he was adamant about not settling down. No husband. No Alpha,” she said looking at Paul.
“I changed my mind,” Paul said. “Duncan can be very persuasive,” he added and Duncan smiled. It was his turn to blush.
“Your parents never stopped looking for you,” she said and he let out a sigh. Duncan put an arm around his husband.
“I regretted leaving, but it had to be done. Duncan is completely different from that Harkonnen guy that my dad was trying to get me to marry.”
“You never told me that your parents were trying to force you to marry,” Duncan said.
“I don't like to talk about it. I've only started communicating with my mother again,” he said. “She found me on Instagram,” he explained.
“It's fine,” he said and he smiled while his husband gave him a kiss.
“Wow, you guys are sickly sweet,” Chani said and Paul chuckled. “So, your mom knows about the show?” she asked and Paul nodded.
“She hadn't gotten back to me if she was coming,” he said.
“If she's coming, then your dad is probably coming, too,” he said.
“Does she know about him?”
“He's on my Instagram, but she doesn't know we're married,” Paul said. He happen to glance up and see a familiar face. “Oh, shit,” he gasped out.
“What?” Duncan asked, looking at the door.
“Oh, shit,” Chani said.
“What? Who is that?”
“That's my dad's head of security, Gurney Halleck.”
“Meaning?” Duncan asked as Paul sighed out. Gurney made eye contact with him before going back outside.
“Meaning my parents are here,” he said. Moments later his mother stepped in. She was as beautiful as the last time he saw her before he left. She smiled when she saw Paul and waved. He smiled back at his mother and waved. His father was right behind her and he had a stern look on his face.
“That's your dad?” Duncan asked and Paul nodded. He chugged the wine in one gulp and gave the glass to Duncan. He let out a sigh as he walked over to his parents. “Should I be worried about my husband?”
“Just know that if you had any plans for after the show, his parents are now part of it,” Chani said. Duncan let out a groan as he watched his husband hug his mother. So much for sex after Remy's.
Paul smiled at his mother as he came up to her. “Paul,” she said.
“Hi, Mum,” he said before hugging her.
“You got a little taller I think,” she said and he chuckled. “Hi, Dad,” he said.
“Hello, son. So, this is what you do?” he asked. “You paint?”
“I do more than that, Dad. Painting is one of my passions. I finished graduate school at NYU and now I am working on my doctorate,” he said.
“To become what?” Leto asked.
“Darling,” Jessica said.
“I'm becoming an anthropologist, Dad.”
“Oh, that's...” Leto started to say before Paul looked over at his mom.
“Mom, there's someone I want you to meet,” he said, taking her hand and brought her over to Duncan. He noticed his husband straighten up as he brought his mother over, his father trailing after them with the head of security walking behind them. “Mom, you remember Chani?”
“I do, how are you dear?”
“I'm good,” Chani said with a smile. “I'm getting a drink.” Duncan moved to go with her, but Paul grabbed his arm.
“Mom, Dad, this is Duncan,” Paul said, holding his husband's arm in place.
“Nice to meet you, Duncan,” Jessica said.
“And you, ma'am,” Duncan said. “It's nice to finally meet you in person,” he said.
“Who are you to my son?” Leto asked.
“Dad!” Paul snapped.
“I'm his husband,” Duncan stated to his in laws.
“Husband?” Jessica asked and Paul lifted up his hand to show his ring.
“We got married two months ago,” he said and she giggled, looking at her husband. Leto's mouth was hanging open and she closed it.
“That's unbecoming, dear,” she said before hugging her son again. Then Duncan found himself in one of her hugs. “I didn't think my son would settle this young,” she said.
“Yes, last I knew, you thought marriage to an Alpha would stop your plans,” Leto said and Paul looked to his dad.
“Duncan is letting me pursue my dreams. Beast Harkonnen wouldn't have done that,” Paul said.
“What the hell kind of name is Beast?” Duncan asked Jessica and she shrugged. A man came through the crowds. It was the gallery owner, Jamis.
“Paul, there is someone interested in one of your paintings,” he said.
“Really?” Paul asked.
“Hey, that means you get to...” Duncan started to say but Paul silenced him with a finger.
“Don't finish that sentence or you're sleeping on the couch,” he said. Jamis chuckled as he took Paul to the buyer, leaving Duncan alone with his in laws.
“So what is it you do, Duncan?” Jessica asked.
“I'm a homicide detective,” Duncan said.
“Wonderful, an Alpha who can protect my Omega son,” she said.
“I'd die for your son, ma'am,” he said and she smiled.
“Hopefully it doesn't come to that,” Leto said. “We would like to take you two out after the show.”
“Uh, well a fancy restaurant wasn't our plans. We kind of filled up at lunch,” Duncan said.
“What were your plans?” Jessica asked.
Duncan and Paul sat in a booth across from Jessica and Leto. They ordered burgers, fries and shakes. “Oh, wow, this is good,” Jessica said when she took a sip of her shake.
“Yeah, Paul loves their shakes,” Duncan said.
“So how did you woo my son into marrying you when he was adamant about not marrying?” Leto asked.
“I didn't woo him. I courted him before asking him to marry me,” Duncan said. “And I didn't treat him like an Omega. He had plans for the future and dreams. I let him pursue those dreams.”
“So you paint while you're getting your doctorate?” Leto asked.
“Actually, I work in the ME's office as her assistant. She's my professor,” Paul said. “I take classes and then do work in the lab for credits.”
“He's just a semester away from getting that doctorate and he'll be Dr. Paul Atreides, anthropologist,” Duncan said and Jessica beamed.
“Not taking your husband's name?” Leto asked Paul.
“No, I'm not.”
“And you're okay with that?” Leto asked Duncan.
“I am.” He put an arm around Paul who smiled before popping a fry into his mouth. “So, my husband fled to avoid a marriage?” he asked.
“Rabban Harkonnen was his intended groom.”
“Twenty years my senior, Dad,” Paul said.
“And how much older is this new husband of yours?” Leto asked.
“He's twelve years older,” Paul answered. “Duncan is different from Beast.”
“His name is Rabban,” Leto said.
“Not according to everyone at the company,” Paul said. “So what happened to dear old Beast?” he asked.
“The merger didn't happen you flaked on your end of the deal,” Leto said and Paul chuckled.
“It's a deal that I didn't have a say in, Dad. You went ahead with it the second I presented. Rabban Harkonnen wanted me, Dad. He didn't care about the merger. He just wanted me in his bed.”
“Caladan Industries still strives thankfully,” Leto said and Paul scoffed.
“And it will without an Artreides at the helm, Dad. I didn't want that life. I have my own life,” Paul said and Leto let out a sigh. His son clearly loved the man sitting next to him and vice versa. “I ran away because I knew I couldn't reason with you and didn't want to put mother through what I had planned if I had been forced to marry the Beast,” he said.
“What are you talking about?” Jessica asked.
“I was going to kill myself if I had been forced into the marriage,” Paul said. Duncan looked over at his husband in shock.
“I didn't know that,” he said. “You never told me.”
“I didn't need to. I ran away from his plans for me,” he said, pointing to his dad. “My dreams were that important. They are still important,” he said.
“Exactly,” Duncan said. “He sold a painting tonight. One of many firsts,” he said before kissing his temple. “I'm proud of you, babe,” he said.
“Thanks, honey,” he said.
“Aw, you guys are so cute,” Jessica said and Leto chuckled.
“When do you guys fly back to Seattle?” Paul asked.
“We fly back tomorrow. Our flight leaves at 10,” Leto said.
“Think you can take a later flight and come to the house for brunch tomorrow?” Paul asked. “Duncan makes really good french toast.” Jessica looked over at her lover and mate to see Leto contemplating the offer. “We could show you around our house, show you wedding pictures,” he said, looking at his mother. “Introduce you to your granddog,” he added and she chuckled.
“I would like that,” she said. She nudged her mate with her elbow who let out a sigh.
“Sure, that sounds nice,” he said.
End of Part I
