Chapter Text
Seattle, Atreides Home; Four years ago....
Paul groaned as he sat down in a corner, hugging his side. He had been feeling off all day and he couldn't figure out why. He also noticed as soon as they arrived, the Harkonnens had been paying extra close attention to him. That was also something he couldn't understand why. “Paul, there you are,” his mother said. “We have guests and you can't....” She stopped in her tracks when she saw the pain her son was in and felt his forehead. “You're burning up.”
“Mum, what's happening to me?” he asked like a scared child.
“Sweetling, I think you're presenting,” Jessica said. “As an Omega.”
“No, no, not now.” Jessica helped her son up and started to discreetly get him out of the hall.
“Come on, it's going to be okay. I have some medicine in my room to help you,” she said. They had almost made it to the door when Paul felt a sharp pain in his abdomen and he groaned. Jessica had no choice, but to call Leto. “Leto.” Paul's father rushed over to help his son up off the floor.
“What's going on?” Leto asked.
“He's presenting, Omega. We need to get him out of here and clear the house of Alphas not related to him,” she said sternly. Paul cried as his father helped him up.
“It's going to be okay, son,” he said. Unfortunately, it wasn't. His scent must of proliferated into the entire room and while most Alphas kept their footing because of who the Omega was, one did not.
“Omega!” Rabban 'Beast' Harkonnen was having a reaction to Paul's scent. He started running toward Paul and his parents, but the security force employed by Leto Atreides tackled him to the floor. “No! Omega! I must have him! He's mine!” Guests were shocked to be witnessing the event before them. An Alpha so taken with a newly presented Omega, he had to have him.
“Get Paul out of here,” Leto said to Jessica. She and her assistant got Paul out of the hall as Leto called out to his security team. “Get him the hell out of here! Every one out!” he demanded. Paul and his mother got up the stairs when there was a commotion and guests were screaming. The assistant had gone up to Paul's room to get it ready and get the medicine that Jessica needed to help her son. The doors to the hall burst open and Rabban came bellowing out, having subdued his guards.
“Give him to me!” he shouted. Jessica, fearing for the safety of her son, hurried to get them into his room. The Alpha was quicker. He wrenched her off Paul and sent her down the stairs. She hit the floor hard and didn't get up.
“Mum!” Paul shouted before the crying out when Rabban bit his neck and then proceeded to undress him. “No, I don't want this!” he tried to scream. It was unclear if Rabban heard him, but once Paul's pants were down, Rabban pinned him against the stairs and proceeded to rape him. “No!! Stop!!

Paul shot up in bed with a terrified gasp as his nightmare faded from memory. He looked around to find him in his bedroom with his husband, Duncan Idaho. He let out a relieved sigh before putting his heads in his hands. He started to cry and that was when his husband woke up. “Hey, hey, you're okay.” Duncan gathered Paul into his arms. “You're safe. I've gotcha, baby,” he said.
“It was just a dream,” Paul cried.
“It was more than that,” Duncan said as he pulled his husband back to gently cup his face. His tear streaked face. “Talk to me, baby.”
“It was half and half. Half memory and half nightmare. I always play it out differently around this time of year,” Paul said and Duncan looked at the calendar on their wall. It was the anniversary date of Paul presenting as an Omega. The day Rabban had tried to claim him by force.
“What happened this time?”
“He broke free of Dad's guards and he..” Paul said, pausing as he cried. "He killed Mum to get me and he raped me on the..."
"Hey, hey, hey, it was just a nightmare, baby," he said and Paul nodded his head. Duncan kissed him softly to get him to settle and wrapped his arms around him. “Just concentrate on my scent, Paul. Let it ease you,” Duncan said and Paul took in a shaky breath before letting it out. “I love you, sweet boy.”
“I love you more,” Paul said and Duncan chuckled.
“Feel like trying to go back to sleep?” he asked and Paul shook his head. “It's fine. How about we just lay here quietly?” he asked.
“Okay,” Paul said. Duncan laid back on the bed, bringing Paul with him. Paul settled on him making sure he could hear Duncan's heartbeat. It always relaxed him.
“I promise to protect you with my life,” Duncan said and Paul sighed out. He felt Duncan running his fingers through his hair as he evened out his breathing. He heard a soft humming and smiled hearing Duncan's attempt at a lullaby.
“That's so cheesy,” he said softly and Duncan chuckled.
“Is it working?”
“Yeah,” Paul said. Duncan continued to hum a familiar tune and before Paul could stop it, rem sleep claimed him again. This time he dreamed of him and Duncan.
Several days later....
The house in Quogue was nice and airy. A weekend in October, you'd think it'd be cold, but the Long Island was experiencing a mini heat wave and was in the sixties when they arrived. “Wow,” Paul said as they got into the house. “This is so beautiful,” he said.
“Just like you,” Duncan said.
“Okay, you don't need to put on the charm to seduce me into bed, detective,” Paul said as he took off his coat. Duncan chuckled as he gathered his husband up into his arms. “I was going to jump into bed with you anyway,” he added.
“So, what do you want to do first? Straight to bed? Or a nice stroll on the beach?”
“Hmm, a stroll on the beach sounds nice,” Paul said. “Barefoot and maybe some shell collecting,” he added and Duncan nodded. They walked Quogue Beach hand in hand, Paul stopping every now and then to pick up a shell. Or toss a starfish back into the ocean. After an hour of strolling along the beach, with a bag full of shells, they headed back to the beach house. “Dinner next? I'm starving, Alpha,” Paul said and Duncan chuckled.
“Of course,” he said. “Are you in the mood for seafood or your favorite? Italian?”
“Italian, babe,” he said. They cleaned up, got shoes on and got into their rental car. Duncan drove passed multiple restaurants and stopped at one called Salvatores. “Hmm, promising,” Paul said and his husband smiled.
Nearly twenty minutes later, Paul was taking his first bite of his starter soup. “Oh, wow, this is so good,” he stated and Duncan smiled. He married a foodie. Good thing he could cook.
“You know, if I'm going to be cooking ya breakfast and lunch at the house, we're going to need groceries,” Duncan said.
“There's a Stop and Shop.”
“We'll have to see what they got,” Duncan said before sipping his wine. “What does my little foodie Omega want for breakfast?”
“Your sticky buns,” Paul said hopefully and Duncan let out a sigh. “I love your sticky buns.”
“I know you do,” Duncan said. “I'll make two dozen,” he said and Paul let out a giggle as he went back to his food.
“Did we even do an inventory count of what was at the beach house?” Paul asked.
“The host said there is a whole kitchen there,” he said. “I could always buy a second muffin tin to help with my two dozen plan,” he added.
“I love you so much,” Paul said and Duncan chuckled. “I'm glad we got the rental. We wouldn't be able to do anything.”
“You're right,” Duncan said. “Let's eat, get some groceries and then back to home for our weekend. You and me, we're going to be busy for the evening.”
“Are we?”
“Oh, yeah. You. Me. A bed. Lots. Of. Sex.” Paul let out a moan, biting his lip. “You like that?”
“I do. Very much.” Once dinner was done, they headed to the grocery store. The host had gotten back to Duncan about what cooking things were there, food wise. They only needed to get a few things. Duncan did grab a few extra things for their lunches.
“Go upstairs to the bedroom,” Duncan said as they got into the house.
“You'll need help with the groceries,” Paul argued.
“I want you up in bed, naked. Got it, Omega?”
“Yeah, I got it,” Paul said before kissing his Alpha. “Bed. Naked. Want me prepped too?” Paul asked and Duncan let out a groan. “I'll take that as a yes,” he said before skipping up the steps.
Duncan never put groceries away so fast in his life. Once he got the last of it put away, he heard a gasping moan coming from upstairs. “Alpha!” With a deep growl, he hurried up the stairs and went into the bedroom. He was instantly hard at the sight of his Omega with his own fingers up his ass as he brought himself to the edge. “Oh, fuck, Duncan.”
“My sweet boy,” Duncan said. He removed his clothes as he watched Paul on the bed. “Don't finish too soon, baby,” he warned. Paul whimpered as he removed his fingers from himself just as Duncan got naked. “I'm so hard for you right now, Paul. You want to know just how hard?”
“Yes, I do,” Paul moaned before he cried out when Duncan grabbed his legs to pull him to the end of the bed. “Oh, fuck,” he groaned seeing the look on his husband's face. Last time he had that look on his face, he got thoroughly fucked. He yelped when he was flipped over onto his stomach. He felt his husband's cock against his backside as Duncan leaned down on top of him. “Duncan.”
“Omega, I want you to hold nothing back. I want to hear everything out of your mouth. Got it?”
“Got it,” Paul whimpered causing Duncan to chuckle. He moaned into Paul's ear before kissing his mating gland. It gave it a little nick with his teeth, getting a yelp from his husband and mate. Duncan let out a moan before spreading his ass cheeks apart.
“Let me hear ya,” Duncan said before pressing his cock into his husband. Paul let out a moan as Duncan eased into him. He spread his legs open and Duncan moaned as he slid right into his husband. “Oh, fuck, right into ya,” Duncan groaned. He began to thrust in and out of his husband.
“Fuck,” Paul cursed and he received a slap on his ass, causing him to cry out.
“Language,” Duncan warned. He thrust harder and faster into Paul, who was finally vocal, just like Duncan wanted. Each thrust procured a moan from the Omega underneath him. “That's it, baby,” Duncan said as Paul groaned and moaned at each thrust of his hips. “Oh, fuck, you're so tight.”
“Language,” Paul quipped. He whimpered when Duncan pulled out of him fast and flipped him back over. Duncan grabbed his husband to move him up the bed and Paul moaned when he slipped back into him. He pulled him into a kiss, wrapping his legs around his husband's waist. Duncan groaned into his mouth as he braced his knees into the bed and began to fuck his husband. Paul gasped out as Duncan slowly dragged out of him before thrusting hard up into him. “Fuck,” he muttered.
“Screw language. You're so fucking beautiful, baby,” Duncan said before swooping in for another kiss. Paul moaned as his husband made love to him. No longer hard and fast. He was going nice and slow, which was nice, but he needed more of his husband.
“Faster, Alpha,” he pleaded and Duncan let out a groan before thrusting harder and faster into his husband. His arms wrapped around Duncan's broad shoulders and he held tight. He moaned with each movement of Duncan's hips. “You feel so good, Alpha,” he said.
“How good, Omega? You ready to come yet?”
“Not yet, but close,” Paul said before moaning out when Duncan changed the angle of his thrusts and he gasped out, grabbing onto his husband. “Duncan.” He reached in between them and grabbed Paul's cock. “Oh, God, that...” Duncan didn't give him time to react as he began to stroke his cock in time with his thrusts. “Yes, yes, right there,” Paul said, feeling Duncan's cock hitting his sweet spot over and over.
“That the spot, baby?” he grunted and Paul nodded as Duncan thrust harder and faster. “Oh, fuck,” he groaned feeling his husband squeeze around him. “Come for me, my sweet boy.” Paul gasped out, eyes rolling up into the back of his head and he let out a cry. His cock spurted in Duncan's hand and onto his stomach. “Fuck, you're so beautiful when you come, Paul,” he said. He thrust hard and fast through Paul's orgasm to get to his own.
“You gonna come, Alpha?” Paul asked and he clenched on the cock pistoning in and out of him. Duncan's thrust stuttered and he gasped out when he came, spilling inside of his husband.
“Fuck,” Duncan said into his neck and Paul giggled.
“Language?” he asked and Duncan growled before lifting them up. Paul let out a shrieking laugh as Duncan walked them to the bathroom. After a quick shower, Duncan carried Paul back to bed and they settled in for the night.
It was late at night, around two when Duncan heard an alert on his phone. Paul was in his usual position in bed, sleeping half on and half off him. He had to carefully reach for his phone on the bedside table. He found his readers to put on and brought up the notification page from their doorbell cam. Someone was at their house at two in the morning and he didn't look like he was friendly. Duncan carefully got out of bed so he didn't disturb Paul and pressed the call button. “You better have a good excuse for being at my door at this hour,” he said. It startled the man and he leaned back, only to fall down their steps. “The police are being notified.” The man got up and ran. Duncan let out a sigh as he made sure Paul was still asleep before pulling on some pants and headed downstairs to call his partner.
“Duncan, the guy didn't even have time to do anything when your doorbell cam turned on.” Tracy had been on duty when the attempted break in happened and she hurried over with some uniforms.
“He went towards Central Park West Street,” Duncan said.
“And he didn't look familiar? Like a certain Alpha who wants your Omega?” Tracy asked.
“No, it wasn't Rabban. Plus, I easily spooked the guy. It's not like our doorbell cam is stealthy,” Duncan said.
“Well, who ever he was, he's long gone, but he left in such a hurry, he forgot his bag. I'll give it to the CSU techs and call you in the morning with results.”
“I'm on vacation.”
“Yeah, but some random dude just tried to break into your home that you share with your Omega. I'm calling in the morning,” Tracy said.
“Thanks,” Duncan said before hanging up.
“Duncan?” He looked up to see Paul coming down, wearing his white shirt. “What's going on?”
“Nothing. Some mook tried to be goofy at our door and set off the camera. Tracy was just calling to verify someone was there, but they didn't even get to try to get into the house.”
“Wow, I'm glad we had Chani watch Emil at her place,” he said as Duncan came up to him. “It was just some guy, right?” he asked his husband.
“Yeah, promise.” He gave Paul a kiss on the forehead and playfully smacked him on the ass. “Go back to bed. I'll be there soon,” he said and Paul nodded before heading back up to bed. Duncan triple checked all the locks on the house before heading back upstairs. Paul was fast asleep when he got into the bed. He plugged his phone in, put his readers down and let Paul curl up next to him.
When Paul got up the next morning, there was no Duncan in bed. He probably got up early to start making the sticky buns. He pulled on some sweats and pulled on an NYPD sweatshirt of Duncan's that he literally swam in. “I have got to get you one of your own NYPD sweatshirt,” Duncan said when he came downstairs to the kitchen.
“Why? Yours is so comfortable,” he stated as he sat down at the breakfast table.
“Sticky buns got another five minutes,” Duncan said as he poured his husband a mug of coffee.
“Oh, thank you,” Paul said as Duncan sat down. “So, the attempted break in last night was nothing?”
“Right. It was nothing,” he said as he glanced at his phone.
“You keep staring at your phone,” Paul said before sipping his coffee.
“Tracy said that they printed the door way and what not in case he touched something. She was going to get back to me in the morning.”
“It's seven. She's probably still sleeping,” Paul said.
“She probably slept in the dorm,” Duncan said and at his husband's confusion he chuckled. “It's where we detectives get a few hours of sleep while on a case.”
“If it will make you feel better we can always go back home.”
“No, we're on vacation this weekend,” Duncan said. “We have a wine tasting at Duck Walk Vineyards,” he added and Paul perked up at the prospect of drinking wine. Now that he was old enough to drink, he enjoyed going to wine tastings with Duncan.
“You just want an excuse to get me drunk to have your way with me,” he said as a buzzer went of signaling the sticky buns were ready. Duncan got up from the chair and scoffed.
“I don't need to get you drunk to have my way with you,” he said as he pulled the sticky buns out of the oven. Paul chuckled as he got some butter and plates out of the cupboards. “After the wine tasting, then it's on to Montauk for their Autumn festival, dinner there and then back here for more sex.”
“Wine tasting, Montauk Autumn Festival, dinner and then sex. You sure know how to treat me right,” Paul said and Duncan chuckled.
“Anything for my husband,” he said and Paul smiled as Duncan put the sticky buns onto a platter and then brought it to the table. “Breakfast is served,” he said before planting a soft kiss on Paul's lips.
“Thank you,” he said before taking a few buns off the platter and putting them on his plate. “I love your sticky buns,” he said before taking one apart and Duncan smiled.
After their breakfast, they got into their rental car and drove up toward the vineyard. Paul gasped out seeing the farmer's market across the street. “Oh, oh, can we got there instead?” he asked and Duncan chuckled. “We can get wine later,” he said. “Please, please. There's apple picking and pumpkin picking.”
“Okay, okay. We will go there first,” he said. “Winery doesn't open for another hour anyway,” he said.
“Yes, yes,” the Omega chanted and Duncan chuckled at his husband. “We need pumpkins for carving and apples for apple butter, pies and just plain eating.”
“Right,” Duncan said. “They got other stuff, too.”
“Oh, this place is so cool,” Paul said as Duncan parked the car. Needless to say, Duncan and Paul never made it to their wine tasting. They had four bags of apples, two pumpkins for their carving and some hard cider to makeup for not doing their wine tasting. They even got some kettle corn and cupcakes. “Wow, that place was so cool,” Paul said as they drove toward Montauk. It wouldn't be ideal to leave everything in the car, but it was cool enough and it was overcast. Plus, they had some coolers in the car, so their perishables were sitting nicely. Hopefully they would be okay.
“That was a nice day,” Duncan said as they drove back from the festival.
“Yeah, it was,” Paul said. “We need more days like this,” he added and Duncan smiled.
“Yeah, we do.”
“Do we really have to back to the city tomorrow?” he asked and his husband let out a sigh.
“Unfortunately, we do,” he said.
The whole day, Duncan realized that Tracy hadn't gotten back to him about the evidence left behind by the would be intruder. While Paul was reorganizing the fridge to put their apples in it, he sent her a quick text, which she replied back to call her. “Hey, what's going on, Trace?” he asked.
“Duncan, the guy you caught snooping, he's got pictures of you and Paul on his laptop.”
“What?”
“They look like candid photos mostly, like he had been following you two,” Tracey said.
“For how long?” Duncan asked, already seeing red.
“At least a couple of weeks,” she said. “We're tracing where we might find the computer's owner. It's possible we can find him that way,” she said.
“Okay, uh, let me know. Paul and I are going to be heading back home in the morning,” he stated.
“Okay. Safe trip home,” Tracey said before hanging up. Duncan hung up the phone and headed into the kitchen.
“I don't know how I did it, but I got all of the apples and other perishables into the fridge,” Paul said as he closed the door. He looked up to see his husband with a worried look on his face. “What's wrong?”
“Uh, you should probably sit down,” Duncan said.
“Okay,” Paul said as Duncan guided him to a chair. “Babe, what's wrong?”
“The guy who was tried to break into our house, it looked like he was hired by someone. He ran off without his computer and Tracy found pictures of us, from the past two weeks,” Duncan said.
“Someone's been following us?” Paul asked. “Did they follow us here?”
“No, I think he decided to try to break into the house for something, but our doorbell cam stopped him,” he said.
“That's why you got up in the middle of the night. Your phone went off.”
“Yeah, and he left, but seeing as he's a private investigator and he's following us,” Duncan said.
“Someone hired him,” Paul said. “It wouldn't have been Dad,” he added quickly.
“I know that,” Duncan said.
“How?”
“Because your dad called me to warn me about Rabban,” Duncan said.
“What about Rabban?”
“A few weeks after he got back to Seattle, your dad called, saying that he had a visit from Rabban. He formally asked to be your mate,” Duncan said and Paul scoffed. “Yeah, well, your Dad told him it was impossible and showed him the wedding picture you sent him of the two of us. Leto said he got agitated and well, didn't seem to take the rejection well.”
“He didn't tell him where we were, did he?”
“No, he didn't, just told him who I was and that his imaginary claim he thinks he has over you is null and void.” Paul let out a sniffle and Duncan eased closer to his mate.
“He can't have me, right? You claimed me and married me. He can't take me from you,” Paul cried.
“He's can't, by law, but that's probably not going to stop him. So, I'm going to have to lay down some ground rules until he's dealt with.” Paul let out a sigh of disgust. He hated rules. “You carry the pepper spray and you are taking self defense classes at my gym.”
“Self defense? With a guy as big as Rabban?”
“Just humor me, baby,” Duncan said.
“Okay,” Paul said.
“I will protect you from him, Paul. He's not going to lay hand, even a finger on you.” Paul nodded his head before sniffling. “Hey, come here.” Duncan pulled Paul over in his chair and picked him to place him on his lap. “You're safe with me, baby,” he softly said, kissing his head as he held him tight.
“I know,” Paul said as his husband rocked him back and forth. “I always am,” he added and Duncan chuckled. He kissed Paul on the head before getting up with him in his arms.
“It's been a long day. We should go to bed and just sleep. We have a long day of driving ahead, especially if you insist on stopping at your favorite places in Brooklyn.”
“I do insist,” Paul said and Duncan chuckled as he carried his husband upstairs.
Paul let out a relieved sigh seeing his home in view. It was even better that they got a parking space right in front of their house. “This never happens,” Paul said as Duncan parked the car.
“No, it does not,” Duncan said. Once the car was parked, they got out to unpack it. Paul put the pumpkins from Hank's Pumpkintown on their steps. “They held up well,” Duncan said and his husband smiled. He carried their bags up the steps as Paul got his bags of apples and cider.
“I'm glad we went to that farm instead of the winery.”
“Me, too,” Duncan said as he opened the door and went in. Paul headed up the stairs with the bags from their shopping in Montauk and the farm.
“It's good to be home,” Paul said as he sat the bags onto the floor. He giggled when Duncan gave his ass a little smack.
“When's Chani getting here with Emil?”
“Soon. I texted her when we were driving back into the city,” Paul said as he headed back out. Duncan nodded as he redid the code on the alarm system and turned up the heat. His little Omega didn't like being cold. “When does the car go back to the rental company?” Paul asked.
“I was going to take it back tomorrow in the morning.” They were getting the last of their things out of the car when Paul heard a bark and he looked up.
“Chani, hey.” Chani smiled as she walked down the street with Emil, in the cutest little sweater. “Oh, God, that's so cute,” Paul said as he put his bags down and Emil came running over to him. “You got here quick. Were you already walking to the house when I text you?”
“I couldn't wait to show you guys the cute little sweater I got Emil,” she said and Paul chuckled.
“It's adorable, but you didn't have to,” Duncan said.
“Are you crazy? I'm his auntie. Of course I have to spoil him,” she said and Paul chuckled as he picked up his dog.
“I tell you he got me Emil for my birthday?” Paul asked, gesturing his head to his husband.
“Really?” Chani asked as she helped pick up bags and carried them into the house. “Big Alpha giving his Omega a little companion,” she said and she caught a blush going over Duncan's face.
“Are you staying for dinner?” Duncan asked.
“Only if you're cooking,” she said with a smirk and he chuckled.
“I guess since I married your best friend I get you, huh?” Duncan stated.
“Yep,” she said.
Paul wanted to get the apples started for apple butter, so Chani helped him peel and core the ones marked for applesauce to make it. “This is a lot of apples,” she said and Paul chuckled.
“He got this glint in his eyes when this place came into view,” Duncan said and Chani chuckled. “We got apples for pies, apple butter and just plain eating,” he said.
“”So, you guys got married, spur of the moment?” Chani asked. “What was the event that made you drag him to the courthouse?” she asked her best friend gesturing to Duncan.
“Oh, don't look at me,” Duncan said. “It was him who made the suggestion that we get married as soon as possible,” he said.
“Really? What made you jump the broom, so to speak?” Chani asked Paul.
“Just a feeling I finally had. We've been living together for a couple of years and I just felt that he was the one,” Paul said and Chani smiled.
“I knew he was the one the day I met him,” Duncan said.
“Shut up,” Paul said causing his best friend to laugh.
“It's true. He wandered off the elevator, brand new, fresh face from the crime lab with his sketchbook. He knew right away the little girl was deaf and he started signing to her. I sat back and watched him interact with her. Fell in love.”
“He asked me out on a date that night,” Paul said and Chani chuckled. “I was a little apprehensive,” he said.
“That's an understatement,” Chani said. “Rabban Harkonnen nearly raped you that night.” Paul let out a sigh, putting the apple he had in his hand down. “I was there,” she said to Duncan. “It took six guys, including Gurney to hold Rabban down as his mother got him upstairs. They had to drag him out of the house. I ran upstairs to help with Paul.”
“Are you...?” Duncan started to ask.
“I'm Beta, but I had Omega friends and knew what he was going through. His temp spiked so bad though a couple days later. I almost lost my best friend,” she said. “He got better though and was on the mend.”
“Until a month later when father mentioned about a marriage contract being drawn up for me with Rabban.”
“I don't blame you for running away, but would it have killed you to keep in contact with me?” she asked.
“I'm sorry, Chani. I couldn't risk my parents using you to find me,” he said.
“You went dark on your social media accounts. How the hell did you survive?” Chani asked and Paul chuckled.
“Turned out getting off social media did me wonders,” Paul said. “I only post momentous events in my life on my private Instagram account.” Duncan watched his husband interact with his best friend. It was like he was seeing a whole other side his little Omega.
“Tell me tall, dark and handsome treated you perfectly on your first date?” Chani asked and Paul chuckled.
“He did.”
<><><><><><><><><> Flashback <><><><><><><><><><><>
Paul checked himself in the mirror one last time, making sure his hair was down and tamed. He hated his curly hair. Girl hair was what he called it. He cleared his throat as he pulled on a jacket. It was the nicest thing he had with him. He let out a sigh as he laid himself out on the bed. “I have to be crazy, doing this. I left Seattle to get away from an Alpha,” he said to no one in particular. Why did he agree to this date? He let out another sigh as he got up from the bed. Phone, keys, wallet. Paul made sure he had them before leaving his dorm room.
“Hey, Paul, there's a really big Alpha outside of the building,” a dorm neighbor said. Paul lived in one of the few dorms that was designated Omegas only, females and males. No Alphas. Especially male ones. Paul was one of very few male Omegas on campus and most of his neighbors in the building were females.
“Yeah, he's here for me,” Paul said with a chuckle. Leaning against the decorative wall outside of his building was Duncan. “He's a detective. You don't have to worry about him,” he added before heading out of the building. Duncan straightened up seeing Paul coming out of the building.
“Wow, you clean up nice,” he said and Paul smiled.
“I can say the same thing about you,” he said. Duncan was very well dressed. He was dressed similar to how Paul was dressed. Comfortable jeans, shoes, nice shirt, sports jacket.
“You ready?”
“Yeah, I am,” he said and Duncan smiled as he led Paul off campus.
“Lived in New York since the police academy. Know all the good spots,” he said.
“I'm going to hold you to that,” Paul said.
“You like Italian?” Duncan asked him.
“I, uh, don't know,” Paul confessed. “College meals are more quick and effective. I haven't really been out to a date,” he said.
“Prom?”
“I was 12 during my prom. Didn't really have anyone to go with,” Paul said, shamefully.
Duncan took Paul to an Italian restaurant. He opened the door for him, pulled out his chair and let him order his own food. Paul instantly loved their mushroom ravioli. “Wow, this is so good,” he exclaimed as Duncan sat watching the Omega in front of him discover a new taste.
“You've never had ravioli?” he asked.
“Just the Chef Boyardee kind,” Paul said. “It's nothing like this,” he stated and Duncan chuckled.
“Well, I am going to have to introduce you to all kinds of things,” he said. Paul smiled as he ate some bread. “I have a feeling you're running away from something and your views on Alphas is limited to us being big, bulky controlling men who want to keep their Omegas locked up. I'm not one of those. I was raised by a single mother over in the Bronx after she fled my abusive father.”
“She ran away from her mate?” Paul asked. “That was brave of her,” he said.
“She died a few years back,” Duncan said. “Cancer.”
“Sorry to hear that,” Paul said.
“Her brother, my uncle, recently passed a few months back. I inherited this massive house that I have no idea what to do with,” he said.
“You could sell it.”
“That's easier said than done. My uncle's brownstone, well, it's mine now. It needs a lot of work and I've found it theraputic to renovate. So, that is what I am doing and when I am finally done, I'll decide what to do with it.”
“What are you working on right now?” Paul asked.
“Oh, God, the kitchen is a mess. I've been eating mostly take out while renovating into a chef's kitchen,” he said.
“A chef's kitchen? Do you cook?” Paul asked.
“I do, actually. Being raised by a single mother had it's benefits. She didn't want her little boy to go hungry.”
“Little boy?”
“Hey, I wasn't this massive 6'4” Alpha, ya know?” Duncan said and Paul giggled. “Laugh now, but when I'm feeling it, you will see pictures of me when I was this scrawny ten year old who didn't peak until he turned 19,” Duncan said.
“Scrawny? Like me?”
“Well, not like you,” Duncan said. “I was bullied and I was a late presenter,” he said. “I presented during senior year and everyone laughed when I presented as an Alpha. I really came into my instincts when I went to college, then the Navy.”
“Bet you were fun at the ten year reunion,” Paul said and Duncan chuckled.
“Oh, yeah, I was,” he said. “Flattened a former bully on his ass in front of all of his friends,” he said.
“Nice. Wish I could have done that to my bullies,” Paul said and Duncan looked at him with a serious look.
“Point them out for me and I'll do it for free,” he said and Paul laughed.
After dinner, Duncan took Paul to a late movie before taking him straight home. “I, uh, had a really nice time,” Paul said as they came up to his building.
“They going to let you back in for being out so late?” Duncan joked.
“I've got a key card,” Paul said. “Thanks for a really great time, Duncan. I needed this.”
“It warrants for a second date?” Duncan asked and Paul smiled.
“Maybe,” he teased and Duncan chuckled as they stopped at the door. “This is my stop,” he joked. The big NO ALPHAS sign was on the door. “I'd invite you up, but,” he said, gesturing to the sign.
“Got it.”
“I gotta do something before I lose my nerve,” Paul said before raising himself up and kissing Duncan's cheek. “Thanks for changing my mind about Alphas. At least some of them,” he said before using his key card to get into the building. He smiled as the door closed and waved. Duncan waved back and he chuckled as he watched Paul get into the elevator.
He was walking back to get the subway home when he got a text from Paul.
Best first date ever.
Duncan chuckled as he let out a sigh. “Gotta love him.”

Paul finished getting the last of the dishes done. Applesauce was put into containers. Dishes were done. He looked around the kitchen and smiled. Duncan had plans to sell the brownstone when he was done with the remodeling, but now it had become their home. Their safe haven. He let out a sigh as he went into the living room to see Duncan asleep on the sofa. He picked up the remote and turned off the TV, causing his husband to grunt. “I was watching that.”
“No you weren't,” he chuckled. “It's past ten. We should head up to bed. I have early morning classes before lab work and you get to go on your first double shift since taking the weekend off.” Duncan groaned as he stood up from the sofa. “Come on. I'll let you carry me up the stairs over your shoulder,” he singed. Duncan let out a growl causing Paul to shriek when he lunged for him. Paul managed to dodge him with a giggle. “Of course, you'll have to catch me first,” he said before taking off up the stairs. Duncan glared after his husband before taking off up the stairs as well. Paul barely made it to the second floor landing when Duncan caught up with him. He let out another shriek before crying out when Duncan heaved him over his shoulder.
“Why do you always run, Omega?” Duncan asked.
“I like making you run after me,” Paul said before gasping out when Duncan smacked his ass. He climbed up the stairs to their bedroom and deposited onto the floor standing.
“I always catch you,” Duncan said.
“That's the fun part,” Paul said before pulling his husband into a kiss. They moaned together as Duncan pulled off Paul's shirt and then his. He brought his husband up against him and kissed down his neck, playfully nipping his mating gland. Paul let out a moan, he responded with a kiss to his pulse point just below his ear. His knees buckled and instead of just catching him, Duncan went with him all the way down to the floor. “Alpha,” he whimpered.
“I know, Omega.” Duncan undid Paul's jeans, pulled them and his underwear down to his knees, freeing his cock. Paul let out a moan as his husband licked his lips at the sight of it half hard, leaking precum. “Fuck, you are so gorgeous right now,” Duncan stated and it caused his mate to blush profusely. “Don't hold back.”
Paul gasped out when his husband engulfed his cock before his eyes rolled up in the back of his head as he felt Duncan hollow his cheeks as he sucked his cock. He let out a deep, hearty moan, his hips bucking up into his husband's face. He felt no shame in fucking Duncan's mouth. He whined out when he felt Duncan's hands grab his hips to keep him still. “Fuck, Duncan,” he moaned. Duncan's head bobbed up and down on his cock. He felt himself getting closer and closer to climax.
Right at the moment when he was making the moaning sounds of what Duncan had described once as a bitch in heat, the mouth on his cock disappeared. He opened his eyes, blinking up at his husband. He barely came into the focus before he was turned around onto his stomach. He heard Duncan undo his jeans before feelings hands on his hips again. He was pulled toward Duncan's cock and he gasped out feeling it against his ass. “Paul,” he heard the soft whisper of Duncan's voice in his ear. He moaned in anticipation feeling Duncan pull one of his ass cheeks to the side. “I adore you,” he stated before pressing his cock into him. Paul was still well loosened from the weekend, but this was the first time he was physically taking him without prepping. “Don't worry. Your body should produce what we need. Provided you're turned on enough,” Duncan said and Paul let out a moan. His Alpha's cock pressed into him and while there was a burn to the intrusion, he relaxed enough that it soon turned to fullness.
“Fuck,” he whimpered. He tried to spread his legs open for him, but between his jeans around his knees, Duncan's legs were on either side of his legs, enclosing him. He couldn't move. Once he was sure Paul was adjusted, Duncan pulled his hips back, slowly. Paul let out a whimper, feeling the cock drag out, before pressing back into him.
“I love you,” Duncan said before slowly snapping his hips against Paul's ass. Paul let out a string of moans as his husband fucked him. Slow at first, but Duncan got faster and harder. He managed to get his hands from underneath his chest, but Duncan growled and brought them over his head. “I love you, but you move too much,” he said before snapping his hips hard. Only a gentle hand on his hip kept him from fighting back and using a safe word they had in place since they started having sex.
“Duncan, please,” he cried. His husband grunted when he clenched around him and then groaned out. He removed his hand from Paul's wrists and braced himself on the floor. Paul moaned into the carpet, his cock trapped between his body and the carpet. It's soft, but rough edges against his cock was enough. He could feel himself approaching as his husband literally fucked him into the floor. “Alpha,” he moaned. Each thrust was hard into him and he felt Duncan's cock hitting his special place inside of him now. “Fuck, I'm going to come,” he said before crying out as he came, his cock spurting onto the floor. Duncan fucked him through his orgasm, chasing his own. He came in a deep, low moan as he came inside of his husband.
Both were out of breath, panting to catch it. Duncan finally pulled out of him and let him turn over. Paul had a smile on his face. “Why do you make me chase you like?” Duncan asked him. “You know it riles me up,” he said.
“Exactly,” Paul stated and Duncan huffed at him before getting him up from the floor.
“Well, you are cleaning the carpet later,” he said. Paul got out of his jeans and into the bed. Duncan removed his jeans the rest of the way. He got into the bed with Paul and pulled him close. “I'm not kidding. You're cleaning the carpet,” he said.
“I know,” Paul said before resting his head on Duncan's chest.
In a hotel room, Rabban Harkonnen was looking at the pictures of Paul that his private investigator had sent. He looked even more gorgeous than four years ago. It looked like he was on a campus. Other pictures he was in a cafe, reading or working. He seethed at the pictures of Paul and Duncan. Always walking close with each other, hand in hand. Paul would sometimes be hugging his arm as they walked. He also wanted his PI to follow Duncan too. Most of the pictures of Duncan were on a crime scene. The gun and badge visible on his hip. He had a female partner.
“He does leave him alone most nights, especially when he's on a case,” the PI said. “They were away for the weekend and I couldn't follow them. I tried their house, to see if they could get in, but I was nearly caught.”
“Caught?” What an imbecile. He wasn't paying him to get caught.
“They have a doorbell cam. Their security for their love nest is very state of the art.”
“So, he has your face on video?” he asked.
“Unfortunately. I've been laying low until I can get another chance. They are back from their weekend trip.”
“No, no, your services are no longer required,” Rabban said. “You have done more than enough.”
“I have?”
“Of course, you got me closer to Paul than I could ever imagine,” Rabban said. It was true. He was in New York City now. Closer to his mate than ever.
“He's still off limits to you. Even if you kidnap him, his Alpha will come after you.”
“Send me your location, so I might give you your final payment in person,” Rabban said. The PI sent him an address and he headed towards it. If he knew one thing about homicide detectives, they worked long hours, especially when they had a case.
